Neurontin overdose side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin overdose side effects

neurontin

Avatar m tn People need to carefully research safe doses and possible side effects..the amounts a doctor is willing to prescribe usually far excedes safe amounts. I'm glad it helped you. Everyone wanting to use this drug must be cautious. It can actually cause people to go 'off the deep end' almost into psychosis. IF it works for you great.
Avatar f tn I see others here have had the same prescription, but no one comments if it had side effects. Aside from this, I also had (have) ringing in my ears, aches, pains, feeling miserable all the time, poor memory, mentally dull, lethargic. I never started taking the big-dose Vitamin D, and in the meantime another doctor diagnosed a tick-bite disease and I'm on antibiotics for that, feeling better enough to think about taking the Vit D tabs.
Avatar n tn He said there was a mention in the side effects but it was so rare he did not think the rash was a side effect to Zoloft. I took myself off of it to see if the rash cleared. It has been about three weeks and the rash has decreased a lot. I would like to know more about weight gain being on Zoloft and what happens to the gain after the drug is entirely out of your system.
Avatar f tn As it turns out, I've had to cut down to 300mg twice a day due to sudden severe vertigo, and I'll continue at this dose until 1) I can talk to my doc about switching to another med, or 2) I have nasty side effects at this dose, whichever comes first. I have heard of neurologists prescribing up to 5400 mg a day to some people.
Avatar n tn They may be seen in cases of overdose and sometimes even with normal doses.
Avatar m tn Side effects of gabapentin can be short- or long-term, lasting for hours or for several weeks or longer. Some side effects of gabapentin can be fatal. Discuss with your doctor any and all side effects you experience after taking gabapentin." http://www.ehow.com/about_5453074_longterm-effects-gabapentin-usage.
Avatar n tn My husband (we are now both disabled and got thru social security disability on the 1st try w/o attorneys) has taken klonopin for over 8 years and stops cold turkey without any complaint of side effects. I took klonopin with methadone, vicoden, ultram and even opana (a new extended release morphine) it didn't hurt me and I recommend to try a little at a time. We call them blues, which is the color of the larger dose and it takes away the anxiety of the pain.
Avatar n tn i'm looking it up now... i have a bottle just sitting in my drawer, and i stop meds tomorrow...
198154 tn?1337790865 This is not a first line med for insomnia OR depression for that matter and it does carry with it a host of negative side effects. Effective dose 25-100mgs taken at night. 5.Pamelor(Nortryptiline)-is a metabolite of Elavil, therefore it tends to have similar effects, but with less pronounced side effects. About 25mgs should do the trick, any more than 100mgs and you may need to get blood tests on a monthly basis. 6.Vistaril-hydroxizine is a powerful antihistamine.
Avatar f tn I'm on 60 mg Cymbalta for pain, 100 mg Lyrica, 30 mg Remeron for sleep but also take a sleeping pill. The ringing is so bad in the night and in the morning think it makes the pain worse. Also on 2 1/2 mg Ativan but have been trying to come off it as the anxiety is much less. I did quit smoking and have started again but not very much. None of the Dr's can explain.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately they also have a list of side effects a mile long, and typically it takes 3-6 months for the body to adapt and for side effects to fade. NNT is around 4 to 6. Narcotics and opiates are the next level. These are prescription only and are tightly controlled, which makes using them a real hassle. For morphine you may be required to get it at one pharmacy only and can only get a small supply per script. It makes travelling quite difficult.

293157 tn?1285877039 When I was started on Lyrica I had some wicked side effects after 5 doses of 75mg each...he wanted me to take 75mg three times a day (but that was part of the overdose problems I had with this doctor). I would call your pharmacist first because the odds are you are going to get a better answer from him as they know the drugs as a rule better than the doctors do. He/she will be able to tell you if you should stop the medication or if it is a normal side effect to start off or not.
363110 tn?1340924019 Although you have not misused these medications in anyway they can have personality altering side effects. Speak to your doctor about this and what could be potential replacements. As for sleep, Rozerem is a sleep aide that works like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle but is safe and non addictive. I don't know if that can be taken during pregnancy. You could ask your doctor about that. The hormonal alterations during pregnancy could bring back any tendencies you have towards depression.
620048 tn?1358021835 It gives me modest relief and only marginally better than Neurontin and Elavil, so I may soon discontinue as the side effects are worse than these other meds. The first dose I took was the worst; it made me very stoned and gave me the munchies. Not good.
438383 tn?1204667562 A popular drug for the use of nerve pain is Neurontin. I was on Neurontin for the pain in my heels and legs however the side effects for me outweighed the pain relief. It, of course is not the same for everyone. It seems strange to me that any doctor would prescribe a narcotic to someone struggling with addiction. The doctor that prescribed these meds to you, is she just your pcp/gp or is she a specialist of some sort?
1684282 tn?1505701570 I am becoming somewhat frustrated with the way a lot of my colleagues practice medicine. Disenchanted, angry would be the other words that could be used. We all get ostensibly that same training and all of us are supposedly in it to help our patients. So, how come have I been getting so many letters lately on my addiction forum from desperate people unable to quit taking the tramadol pills that their own kind doctors have so freely prescribed for them?
1349329 tn?1276988802 Powder from a crushed tablet should not be inhaled or diluted with liquid and injected into the body. Using this medicine by inhalation or injection can cause life-threatening side effects, overdose, or death. What is tramadol? Tramadol is a narcotic-like pain reliever. Tramadol is used to treat moderate to severe pain. Tramadol extended-release is used to treat moderate to severe chronic pain when treatment is needed around the clock.
Avatar f tn it isn't all good news though as any strong drug can have side effects(like concentration and memory issues). however, with the pro's/con's weighed up I am very happy to be on this medication. it isn't the demon it is potrayed to be but I would caution against its use to anyone who hasn't thoughly exhausted other options 1st. I would point out that i consider it only for people in constant severe pain.
Avatar n tn She had been taking high prescribed doses elavil(amitryptiline) for many years to treat manic depression, as well as a mix of other medications. The last drug she was on, neurontin, had such awful side effects that she discontinued it, I believe cold turkey. I myself took small doses of paxil (about 5 mgs) after she died to help me cope, as well as had therapy. Paxil did help me sleep and stabilize.
Avatar n tn it messes with you mentally by raising anxiety and heart rate and blood pressure. all those mental side effects puts soo much stress on you body. i had a friend who was doing it all day put some on marijuana, and when he smoked it he went into cardiac arrest. i had to give him cpr, which the emt told me saved his life. i dont want to give out any false advice so dont take this into consideration but i would like a physician to correct me if im wrong or praise me if im right.
Avatar n tn I've tried most of the usual medicines - they either did not touch the pain or the side effects kept me from functioning. My boss is wanting me to go on long-term disability - I really cannot perform like before. I don't know what to do. The pain gets so bad and nothing seems to stop it. I have had some temporary success with Dr Max King in Abilene, Tx, but he treats all pain like trigeminal neuralgia, not what I have. But I have had alot more "good" days since seeing him.
Avatar f tn The other thing is after being on narcotics and benzo's for extended amounts of time, the side effects of the medications are not as noticeable because your body has become used to having those medications in your system. Looking at your medications you do need to be EXTREMELY CAREFUL!! You are taking two benzo's (xanax and klonopin) that are strong by themselves. You.
6726276 tn?1421130268 By the time I was referred to a neurologist, at least a year into therapy, my meds had changed to 250mg Lamictal, 15mg Abilify, Topomax, 2400mg Neurontin, 1 1/2 mg Klonopin...I had been on those since I stopped the Lithium due to side effects after 6 months. My weight came down, I had no other side effects, but my headaches were still raging after 1 1/2 yrs. of therapy. I knew it wasn't the meds, because even as I changed them, my headaches still followed.
Avatar n tn //www.theacpa.org/documents/ACPA%20Meds%202007%20Final.pdf Pain Types & Chronic Pain Classification Acute pain is distinguished as being of recent onset, transient, and usually from an identifiable cause. Chronic pain can be described as persistent or recurrent pain, lasting beyond the usual course of acute illness or injury or more than 3 to 6 months, and which adversely affects the individual’s well-being. A simpler definition for chronic pain is pain that continues when it should not.
460948 tn?1232305722 he said the neurontin is safer and the lyrica can have some side effects...my friend takes it and she gets loopy from it as well...I have some samples but have never tried it...be safe in whatever drugs you take from now on if you have had an addiction problem...
Avatar f tn As far as the drunk feeling maybe a little but I can still work hard during the day. I am willing to take these side effects for 4 days. It's always a choice.
Avatar f tn and does it make you gain weight a lot or have any other major side effects? it may sound strange...but i've had experiences with horrible side effects...
Avatar f tn These are common side effects and symptoms that your Dr does'nt necessarily disclose. I'm sorry that I don't have a good story to tell you r/t mmt. Be safe.
