Neurontin dosage range

Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin dosage range

neurontin

Avatar m tn I am currently taking 60mg of Nortriptyline a day for neuropathic pain. It hasn't been effective so I am planning to switch to Neurontin. What is the average dose of Neurontin for pain management? More specifically, with a chronic pain level between 5-7. Is there a database for Neurontin dosage? I will be ramping to 300mg of Neurontin per day but am wondering if that's too conservative.
600857 tn?1230057770 Please do not worry about Neurontin. I have taken it for a long time and at twice the dose your at. I have not had one problem from it and it does work on my nerve pain. I have had absolutely no side effects even from the increases I've had. In my opinion, it is a completely safe drug. If you have any douts about it then Google "Neurontin Side Effects" it should give you a really good indepth look at the drug.
620877 tn?1282764097 For those of you who take Gabapentin (Neurontin): Just curious what side effects you have experienced (and at what dosage), and how long they lasted? I just started this last weekend, 300mg once a day at bedtime. I am having a really hard time waking up in the morning and for the first half of the day I feel a little "loopy" or my head feels "swimmy"....if that makes any sense.....
Avatar f tn My doctor is starting me on Neurontin. Has anyone had any luck with it or had any side effects?
1207048 tn?1282174304 Neurontin has a huge dosing range with the maximum recommended dose being 3600mg per day. Most people feel relief by 1800mg per day or so. I would have to look it up to see if it works by establishing a level that must be maintained. If that is correct, then once a day would not likely be effective. I suggest you discuss this with your pharmacist. It truly sounds like he is using it as a sleep aid for the discomfort.
1855076 tn?1337115303 I'm just curious if anyone is hearing that Neurontin is being abused? I was given this for nerve pain but couldn't tolerate it as it caused serious slurring of my words to the point people thought I was intoxicated. I also had trouble word-finding on it. But I didn't think it was something anyone abused. (Though I slurred my words, I didn't feel high or intoxicated with it; I sort of felt locked in ... I knew in my head what word I wanted but couldn't get it out.
Avatar m tn From your test results your Free T4 was a bit lower than we normally suggest, which is middle of the range, at minimum. Your Free T3 is even lower in its range, which shows that your body is not converting T4 to T3 very well. Free T3 is the thyroid hormone that correlates best with symptoms. Many members say that symptom relief required Free T4 at the middle of its range, and Free T3 in the upper third of its range, or as necessary to relieve symptoms.
Avatar f tn I take 300mg 3 or 4 times a day and have been at this dosage for about 9 months for bulging C6/7. I'm scheduled for surgery in a few weeks and I want to stop the neurontin. My body starts aching horribly, and my mood really goes bad if I'm late for a dose. I'm on day two of eliminating the mid day dosage and I'm doing so-so. Does anyone have any advise for me?
Avatar f tn Looking for people's experiences with Neurontin 1) in general and 2) specifically if its helpful for withdrawal. The poll is for people's experiences using Neurontin during withdrawal - not necessarily FOR withdrawal but just if you used during. lso let me know if you feel like it, what it actually helped with. If you have other experiences with it, please comment on this post and let me know. I was prescribed it weeks ago for facial pain, but I havent filled it.
Avatar f tn We all need to find our optimal range and not just a normal range. Shoot for a lower TSH and a higher free t3 (will probably have to have t3 added in to get there) with a mid range freet4 and see how you feel? If your doctor will not check the freet3 level, then find one who will.
Avatar f tn I saw a Neurologist on Monday, a Physiologist on Tuesday. Together between these doctors we have developed a plan to treat me & to continue trying to find out what's wrong. I finally feel like I'm being treated, and someone wants to find the cause. The physiologist is great. I was put on Neurontin & Darvocet for the pain. I've taken darvocent before, so I know how it affects me - no problems there.
Avatar f tn I just started Neurontin (gabapentin). I'm on 100mg this week and next week I go up to 300mg. The 100mg is making me SOOOO dopy. Is this normal? What are other side effects? How bout the liver and kidneys?
172023 tn?1334672284 If you are a self pay patient, you know how expensive Neurontin (gabapentin) is. My dosage is 600mg twice a day. CVS wanted $218 for a thirty day supply (60 tablets, 600mg each). Walmart wanted $110. But get this...the curious pharmacy tech looked up the price of 300mg capsules....$13 for a thirty day supply, 300mg, two capsules twice a day (equals one 600mg tab taken twice a day). Can you freaking believe that???? $110 for the 600mg, $13 for 300mg.
564491 tn?1320360393 I have tried almost every medication and procedure recommended. I am now taking Neurontin, and am wondering if anyone takes Neurontin, what dosage has been helpful, and if it has made a difference in the condition of your headaches/migraines. Thanks so much.
Avatar n tn I went online to check my lab results on 4-26-13 B12 542 range (211-946) on 10-14-13 4.98 range (211-946) TSH 9-5-12 1.39 range (.27 -4.2) on 9-25-13 TSH 5.5 range (.27-4.2}. All that was done was the TSH. The only one who did a tsh and free t4 was the renal doctor on 10-25-13. I reduced it from 112 mcg to 100 mcg.
Avatar n tn t apply to everyone) is that FT4 should be about mid range and FT3 should be in the upper 1/3 of its range. Your FT4 is only at 36% of the range and we have no idea about FT3, so we don't know if you are converting the FT4 to FT3 adequately or not. You should ask for the FT3 test, next time you get TSH and FT4; if she refuses, you should probably find another doctor, because one who refuses to look at FT3, and/or doses based on TSH, will keep you very ill.
Avatar f tn I took Neurontin for nerve problems also but it made me nutty so the doctor gave me Gabitril. I don't know if it can help in your situation but it would be worth asking a doctor about. Hope that helps.
Avatar f tn Is there anyone on here that would be able to answer a few questions for me regarding Neurontin? I did read a few of the older posts and articles on here which actually lead me to have more questions. I'm kind of wondering if maybe I am under dosed based on what I have read. (I have had this issue with other meds with my neuro). I also have some questions regarding missed doses and I can't seem to find any clear answers in the literature. Thanks.
874521 tn?1424116797 I've been on 1800 mg neurontin for 4-5yrs now...but its no longer working as it once did..and I have been using 2100mg (on my own) for a few weeks now but think I need even higher dose...so will mention to my doctor when I get rx refilled. My question is: Is there anyone that has been on this med for a long time and at a high dose? And what are the side effects of long term high doses? (other than the generically silly ones they give on some sites)...I want PERSONAL experiences..
681148 tn?1437661591 I read your response on the other post as well. I hope that you do ok with the Neurontin. At least, with this dosage, you can build it up if necessary. I'm glad to hear that taking the pain meds. earlier helped out. Take care and feel better soon.
1415174 tn?1453243103 How do you taper off of Neurontin? I have gone so far from 900 mg a day to 500mg a day. 200 per week then 100 a week now. Is that too slow? I have gotten insomnia, anxiety and general not feeling good and even increase in back pain. Is the last few hundred much harder?
