neurontin dosage

I am currently taking 60mg of Nortriptyline a day for neuropathic pain. It hasn't been effective so I am planning to switch to Neurontin. What is the average dose of Neurontin for pain management? More specifically, with a chronic pain level between 5-7. Is there a database for Neurontin dosage? I will be ramping to 300mg of Neurontin per day but am wondering if that's too conservative.

Please do not worry about Neurontin. I have taken it for a long time and at twice the dose your at. I have not had one problem from it and it does work on my nerve pain. I have had absolutely no side effects even from the increases I've had. In my opinion, it is a completely safe drug. If you have any douts about it then Google "Neurontin Side Effects" it should give you a really good indepth look at the drug.

My doctor is starting me on Neurontin. Has anyone had any luck with it or had any side effects?

I'm just curious if anyone is hearing that Neurontin is being abused? I was given this for nerve pain but couldn't tolerate it as it caused serious slurring of my words to the point people thought I was intoxicated. I also had trouble word-finding on it. But I didn't think it was something anyone abused. (Though I slurred my words, I didn't feel high or intoxicated with it; I sort of felt locked in ... I knew in my head what word I wanted but couldn't get it out.

I take 300mg 3 or 4 times a day and have been at this dosage for about 9 months for bulging C6/7. I'm scheduled for surgery in a few weeks and I want to stop the neurontin. My body starts aching horribly, and my mood really goes bad if I'm late for a dose. I'm on day two of eliminating the mid day dosage and I'm doing so-so. Does anyone have any advise for me?

For those of you who take Gabapentin (Neurontin): Just curious what side effects you have experienced (and at what dosage), and how long they lasted? I just started this last weekend, 300mg once a day at bedtime. I am having a really hard time waking up in the morning and for the first half of the day I feel a little "loopy" or my head feels "swimmy"....if that makes any sense.....

Looking for people's experiences with Neurontin 1) in general and 2) specifically if its helpful for withdrawal. I saw a Neurologist on Monday, a Physiologist on Tuesday. Together between these doctors we have developed a plan to treat me & to continue trying to find out what's wrong. I finally feel like I'm being treated, and someone wants to find the cause. The physiologist is great. I was put on Neurontin & Darvocet for the pain. I've taken darvocent before, so I know how it affects me - no problems there.

I just started Neurontin (gabapentin). I'm on 100mg this week and next week I go up to 300mg. The 100mg is making me SOOOO dopy. Is this normal? What are other side effects? How bout the liver and kidneys?

If you are a self pay patient, you know how expensive Neurontin (gabapentin) is. My dosage is 600mg twice a day. CVS wanted $218 for a thirty day supply (60 tablets, 600mg each). Walmart wanted $110. But get this...the curious pharmacy tech looked up the price of 300mg capsules....$13 for a thirty day supply, 300mg, two capsules twice a day (equals one 600mg tab taken twice a day). Can you freaking believe that???? $110 for the 600mg, $13 for 300mg.

I have tried almost every medication and procedure recommended. I am now taking Neurontin, and am wondering if anyone takes Neurontin, what dosage has been helpful, and if it has made a difference in the condition of your headaches/migraines. Thanks so much.

My doctor has suggested I try neurontin (or I guess the generic version). I'm not very fond of taking medicine (I know, I'll have to get over that real quick if I get diagnosed LOL). I will most likely try this. I think my sleep is being interrupted after a few hours sleep because I'm uncomfortable. Not in pain so much, but sore and achey.

I took Neurontin for nerve problems also but it made me nutty so the doctor gave me Gabitril. I don't know if it can help in your situation but it would be worth asking a doctor about. Hope that helps.

Is there anyone on here that would be able to answer a few questions for me regarding Neurontin? I did read a few of the older posts and articles on here which actually lead me to have more questions. I'm kind of wondering if maybe I am under dosed based on what I have read. I've been on 1800 mg neurontin for 4-5yrs now...but its no longer working as it once did..and I have been using 2100mg (on my own) for a few weeks now but think I need even higher dose...so will mention to my doctor when I get rx refilled. My question is: Is there anyone that has been on this med for a long time and at a high dose? And what are the side effects of long term high doses? (other than the generically silly ones they give on some sites)...I want PERSONAL experiences..

How do you taper off of Neurontin? I have gone so far from 900 mg a day to 500mg a day. 200 per week then 100 a week now. Is that too slow? I have gotten insomnia, anxiety and general not feeling good and even increase in back pain. Is the last few hundred much harder?

I am taking a strong dosage of neurontin and I have the same effects as described. I can sit for up to 5-7 minutes before a flow begins. Not sure if it is the neurontin or a pain medication. I have nerve damage and need both medications.

He prescribed neurontin which I started taking last night. He said to take 1-3 but I took one until I know how my body will handle it. He ssaid it would help me sleep and help the weird sensations I'm feeling. I know it will take a while to get in my system I'm sure, but boy did I feel odd this morning. I was prescribed Neurontin for what they are thinking are overactive nerves. I had an injury 2 years ago and am still in pain and they think it's from the nerves not having settled or still being irritated. The doc said this was the safest med he prescribes. I don't like medicine.

I've asked this same question before about Neurontin, and now wondering the same thing about Lyrica, specifically, is it preferable to divide dosing twice or 3x daily? I am taking 150mg morning and again at night. I am wondering if anyone has better effect from taking this med morning, afternoon and night? BTW, so far, it seems to be working better than Neurontin. I am still weaning off Neurontin and down to 300mg 3x per day (down from 3600mg daily).
