Neurontin and vicodin

Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin and vicodin

neurontin

Avatar f tn I'm detoxing from vicodin and norcos that I've been taking for about a year now. I was taking 7-10 a day. Its been 2 days without and my main side effect it anxiety. I wanna know if it will even go away and if so what is the normal time for it to last?
483757 tn?1208481255 D and Tramadol) The only thing she will allow me to take is 1/2 to 1 tab of Vicodin 10/500mg a day even though narcotics have NEVER worked for my pain and she knows that- and I hate Vicodin. At every appointment, I tell her that my pain is worsening and unbearable but her only suggestions have been more narcotics and warm water exercise. I have even tried safe essential oils, herbs, vitamins and massage.
Avatar n tn t get in to the neurologist for another 3 weeks. I have already been on Neurontin so they added carbamazepine. She gave me some Vicodin for two days worth while the carbamazepine builds up... but so far, I'm still in constant pain that the Vicodin only barely relieves.
Avatar f tn I stopped taking it suddenly after my detox because of the same issues you are having and never had a problem - and my dose was twice yours and I was taking for a much longer period. You should not have a problem.
Avatar f tn I have diabetes, peripheral neuropathy, chronic bronchitis, COPD, hiatal hernia, GERD, restless leg syndrome, arthritic cervical spondylosis, alergies, ADD (my primary care dr says), but have never been diagnosed with it. It makes sense, however, as when in school and even now, I will be talking about one subject and will constantly go off on another completely different subject. My attention span is very short and always has been.
Avatar n tn Thanks so much for your response. Yes, I am on a bi-pap machine; however, the sleep apnea I think began well before I gained the weight, and I have read where it can actually cause weight gain (a chicken or the egg debacle). I woke up with headaches so bad I had to get up to take the pressure off my head against the pillow. That was 100 pounds ago. I thought it was just migraines, but always found that getting up and moving around cured the headache more often than not.
Avatar f tn I just want people struggling with the debilitating side effects of vicodin withdrawal know that they don't have to suffer. Ask your doctor for neurontin or gabbbapentin. I am a 3 year severe (20-30) norco addict and I decided to stop the maddness but was afraid of the muscle pain i've felt before. With neurontin I have none of those spasms cramps or depression and mood swings. It also gives me no "high" feeling at all so its not a temptation for abuse or addiction.
Avatar m tn I know most of this stuff will subside and it will just be about staying away from the Vicodin that takes the edge off. Neurontin has been suggested and seems less dangerous than Suboxone. Can anyone give me an opinion on this? I can't go through these withdrawals again. I am begging for help.
Avatar f tn I have taken neurontin for withdrawals from vicodin and it helped tremendously. I was originally prescribed neurontin for nerve pain due to sciatica but it didn't help with that. I read about it on the net and found it is used in some detox facilities for withdrawals. When taking it the only symptoms I felt were the chills, a tad bit of anxiety, and a little lack of energy. I have went cold turkey in the past without anything and can say that when I used neurontin it made a huge difference.
Avatar n tn thanks for all your suggestions. to answer your questions: 1. polly08: yes i have been on neurontin and topomax(those actually didn't help my head and made me gain 70lbs which was horrible..finally lost it after i stopped taking it)! 2.flmagi: haven't tried the oxygen mask idea...it's a possibility and i'd love to get a special mattress made but because of my health issues i'm on temporary disability and can't afford one..
Avatar n tn if i quit cold turkey and just take the gabapentin (neurontin) will that be enough to help with withdrawals? or should i taper myself down on the vicodin and xanax a little bit, and then do the gaba therapy (i don't want to go in and have ANY doctor do anything)... help...?
507619 tn?1211845850 uhh hi im 16 and addicted to perocet and vicodin. im on day 7 of going cold turkey and have naseua, fatigue and my upper back and shoulders are killing me... i was taking up to 5 percoet 7.5mg or if had vicodin id take like 6 7.5 a day.i had realized that when i went to school in the morning if i didnt take any pills i get withdrawls in school and we all know there no fun my question is when will the withdrawls stop.
Avatar n tn I have nerve pain, primarily in my lower legs, and have been put on Lyrica, Neurontin and soon will start on Cymbalta to see if I get a better result with the pain. In addition, I am taking baclofen before bedtime for the pain. The good thing about baclofen is that it helps relax the muscles spasms, but doesn't do anything for the numbness/tingling. Thats ok though because the numbness and tingling are not my main concerns anymore.
Avatar n tn Endodontist said nothing is wrong with my teeth and he thinks trigeminal nerve is involved in some capacity and should probably see neurologist. Saw PCP and was put on Neurontin again and as of today the pain is much reduced. PCP said no need to refer to neurologist at this time unless Neurontin doesn't seem to help as it just seems like I only get issues from dental work and nothing else at this point and it clears up once I take the Neurontin.
Avatar f tn Hey Gizzy how are you?I am doing ok.I have a problem with these darn tramadol's and want to put a end to it.I used neurontin for the vicodin w/d's a long time back and they worked pretty good.I slept,no body pain or rls.It has been a while since I used it.I remember not feeling like 100% but it was way way better than going cold turkey for me.I remember it making me feel drowsey some what and I remember my feet would tingle but other than that it worked well for me.
Avatar f tn I have recently been prescribed to Robaxin, Vicodin and Gabapentin for back pain/sciatica. Anyone have experience with these meds?
Avatar m tn On the outside, starting at the hip and going down to the kneecap. After a few visits to the doctor and different tests he's narrowed it down to either some nerve compression in the leg itself from some benign cysts that have been there since I was a kid or from a case of sciatica. I'm set to see a specialist on this, but don't have the appointment for like a month and a half.
Avatar m tn If a person has been taking hydrocodone for over 5 years and specifically 6 500/50 hydrocodone/apap per day for at least the last 7 months, will there always be withdrawal symptoms? There was no tapering, only a brief two week change to Nuerontin (low dose) for two weeks and then that was increased for another two weeks. After the nuerontin for a total of a month it was cold turkey.
Avatar m tn Hi all, I just discovered this forum, and am hoping you can help. I have been treated w/Vicodin for awhile now for chronic pain. I have now moved from the US to India, where it is not available. Any recommendation for alternatives? I can't take codeine long term, and take Effexor, neurontin and metformin daily, w/Soma PRN as well. I can have scripts shipped here if need be, but wold prefer to avoid the hassle/expense.
Avatar n tn In addition, the vicodin only works for about 2 hours, and then I have wait another 2 hours before I can take it again. I see my doc this week, and want to ask him about medications for nerve pain (Neurontin or Lyrica). It seems like everybody on this forum is taking narcotics for pain, but I want a different option. Can anyone give me advice?
Avatar n tn Hi...my history is this: 8 years ago had terrible back injury and since have had 6 surgeries. Over the years I've taken different levels of vicodin, oxy, morphine, percocet, percodan, neurontin...and muscle relaxers, sleeping pills, anxiety meds... Right now I'm doing the best I have since my injury. Currently I'm taking vicodin 7.5--4/day, neurontin 600mg--6/day and avinza 30mg--2/day.
