Neurontin and panic disorder

Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin and panic disorder

neurontin

Avatar f tn I take neurotin because i also have RSDS which is a nerve disorder. I also have to take pain meds, stomach pills and a nerve pill because of my panic attacks. So, I do not think neurotin helps with panic attacks, well not for me.
2097395 tn?1333262190 Neurontin should not be prescribed for panic disorder. It is classified as an anticonvulsant and commonly prescribed for nerve pain and seizure disorders. It does have sedetary properties however not thought to have addictive qualities. Maybe you have developed a psychological dependence based on the sedating effects. This is a medication that should not be stopped abruptly to prevent seizures. I encourage you to talk to your doctor about taking a medication that is specific for panic disorder.
Avatar f tn I have constant ringing in my ears. sometimes it is worse than others. I have had bad anxiety and panic attacks for 6 months.
Avatar f tn I am on Neurontin for Panic Disorder. When I first started taking it, it felt like I was kicked in the head. It took about a week for the initial dosing side affects to wear off. Also each time I increased the dose I got the same feeling for about a day or so - hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Thank you guys for your input. I left this out, but I'm on Lamictal & Lithium for BP & Clonazepam & Buspirone for panic & anxiety disorder. The combo of these drugs with Gabapentin (Neurontin) is what really screwed me up more than I already am. The Gabapentin really knocked me for a loop. It gave me the shakes, made me dizzy & really screwed with my cognitive skills. I think this is why my shrink wants to keep me away from this class of drugs.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with episodes of rapid heart rate (from 150+) that after being tested from cardiologist was diagnosed as panic disorder. My shrink had me on most recently Neurontin and Xanax and Inderal to help slow my heart rate down which makes me panic even more. The Neurontin and Xanax weren't very effective and we just switched over to Klonopin since I need to take this every day and it's safer than xanax daily (supposedly). I also went back to Prozac.
Avatar f tn Hello...I have been having strange symptoms coming and going (about 2-3 times a year) for 3 years. Diagnosed with anxiety disorder (cause I don't know what these "feelings" are) and panic attack disorder (cause I get scared of my symptoms). :) Finally this year (a month ago) I had another "flare=up" of symptoms which include; extreme fatigue, weakness in arms and legs (can't pick up a milk jug or walk very well), confusion, clumsiness (breaking dishes...
1134609 tn?1269272200 However, I adapt to the dosage quickly and when I do so, each dose gives me a ripping panic attack. I am used to panic attacks and can usually put them down with CBT, but, over the past week, they have been friggin TERRIBLE. I never take my Ativan and I have been taking it nearly every day for a week now. I have nearly doubled the amount of Neurontin over the past year and it getting old in a hurry.
1029865 tn?1252418538 I was taking 1 mg of xanax 3 times a day now i take 1200mg neurontin, 1mg klonopin, 20mg lexapro in the morning and 600mg neurontin, 1 mg klonopin in the eve... If I was you and you need it I would ask for it twice a day. Because that will wear off by the eve. I have major depression, general anxiety, panic disorder and social anxiety.

459325 tn?1274755074 The Dr diagnosed me with BPD and anxiety disorder with panic attacks. My irritability is somewhat better, but I still feel easily annoyed by others. If anybody could share any experience that would be wonderful. These disorders run in my family a lot, but all this is new to me and I thought I had some other medical condition. Thanks!
1689696 tn?1305819097 I am going to see my primary doc on 6/13/11 for severe anxiety/ panic attacks. I would like to know what anxiety meds I should AVOID while taking the neurontin? Thanks to all who answer.
Avatar m tn Everytime I took them (3 times) it was an automatic anxiety/panic attack. Definitely take some deep breaths, lay down and think calm and loving thoughts. Turn on the tv to some mind numbing show....if you can stand any kind of sound (sometimes I can't)...or just turn off the lights and do some relaxation techniques...deep breaths, localized muscle relaxation run-down (where you focus on one part of the body at a time and just relax it...envision white light and all that).
Avatar f tn I have my panic disorder under control. Originally took klonopin and I must have built up a tolerance to it! (1 1/2 mg per day) Anxiety was coming back and panic attacka. Now on celexa(40mg) Buspar(20mg) and neurontin at night(600mg) I stayed on the klonopin until I was stable. My doctor added these drugs instead of adding the celexa to the klonopin because he hates benzos. I have to begin tapering off the klonopin and cannot use the water or valium transfer.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have suffered from gereralized anxiety and panic disorder for since I was 17 year old. When I was in my late teens, my triggers were large crowds, tight spaces, etc. Now that I'm in my early 30's, I still panic in large crowds and tight spaces, but now I've developed chronic panic attacks that happen around the time I am ready to fall asleep. I'm also someone who catastrophizes the littlest situation. I regularly see a psychiatrist & therapist who I love.

Avatar m tn Since that trip to the hospital I live in constant fear and have panic attacks about once every other day, and have trouble breathing usually accompanied with chills. Do you think I might have a panic disorder, or even OCD. Any help is good help.
1126790 tn?1268014605 I've had what is presumable panic disorder for the past two years now, and today seems to be particularly bad. Earlier, I started to feel tingly all over, and when I noticed it, I went into a short panic attack (chest discomfort, extreme fear, urge to leave the place, etc). Now the tingling sensation won't go away, and I feel somewhat dizzy. My heartrate is fine, there are no mental changes in the slightest, and my legs feel slightly weak still, like I was just scared quite badly.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know how to heal anxiety/ panic disorder without medication? I'm on mirtazapine and xanax as needed. I hate it. Tired of feeling like a zombie.
Avatar m tn Its simple really, but just go to the gym EVERY DAY, do a bunch of cardio, and watch over the course of a week as you start to feel less and less anxious, and your panic and anxiety just dissolve away... I think of it as excess energy, burn it off and it won't chew away at you in the form of useless fears. If you have never had a siezure, and you don't do drugs, there is almost no chance that you will have one, so cheer up! :) Good luck!
Avatar f tn Well I am 28 year old female and I had a panic attack while driving about 6 months ago, since then I have had a constant ball of nerves in my stomach that wont go away. As soon as I wake up my anxiety is the first thing on my mind and the last thing on my mind when I go to sleep. My stomach is just in knots!!!! I have not been able to drive alone since the attack. It was the first and only one I have ever had and it was bad enough to scare me in2 not driving.

Avatar n tn My mother has been suffering from a panic disorder for the past 5 months, primarily experiencing the panic at night. She describes the feeling as a pit in her stomach and fear, but she can not really say what she fears. She just says " I am fearful." She has seen a psychiatrist who gave her zoloft first, but it did not work. Then they gave her xanax, but again this did not work. Then they told her to take more xanax and Klonopin, but she continues to experience the panic.
