Common Questions and Answers about Nerve pain neck arm

neck

Avatar n tn Hi, I think your symptoms may be due to nerve irritation in the cervical (neck) spine because of cervical disc bulge. This pain may be referred and perceived as occurring in the back of head & shoulders (as it blades)- LHERMITTES SIGN, arms or chest, rather than just the neck. Other symptoms may include vertigo, nausea (dizziness) and stiffness. It will be best that you consult a neurologist who would like to prescribe Pain killers, steroid and muscle relaxants.
760862 tn?1243097304 ) I had been experiencing some arm pain and finger pain with my neck problems and was told it was nerve damage. He gave me some medication for it and I don't take it any longer but it helped when I needed it for the pain in my arm and fingers. I was getting injections for my neck and the arm and finger pain just eventually went away. So I think you may be having some nerve pain from either nerve damage or problems steming from another injury you may have.
Avatar n tn Just this week, the pain in my left shoulder has started to improve while the shooting pain down my arm on the right side has started to occur. Could this be a pinched nerve in my neck? What should my next step be? This discussion is related to Shoulder Pain, Tingly Arm, Pinched Nerve?.
Avatar f tn Two days ago I woke up with a terrible pain in my neck and arm (just above elbows). The night before I was laying in a poor posture on the couch. Over the past two the days this pain is no longer and terrible as it is. I only feel the pain in my upper arm area when I bend my neck down. I at first thought it was a muscle issue, but my muscles have no pain. I did some reading and realized that I may have potentially pinched a nerve.
Avatar n tn I have a pain on the left side of my neck and my left arm has a tingling feeling all the way down to my fingers. I've had this feeling for about 2 years now. know what could be causing it?
Avatar n tn pain in neck on rt side and base of neck has large lump, sometimes my right hand goes cold like it has no circulation
Avatar f tn You need to be evaluated for a cervical spine disc degeneration or prolapsed irritating the nerve roots and causing tingling , numbness and weakness in the arm and thumb. These neck, shoulder and arm symptoms are most likely due to compression of the nerve roots supplying these regions which originate from cervical and upper thoracic vertebral levels. Consult a neurologist for evaluation of your spine and an MRI spine would help in assessment of the structures in your back.
Avatar n tn I have pain in the left arm and hand and the right arm to the elbow , left side of the neck. Also pain on the middle of my back between the shoulder blades. I do have " sever" nerve compression in the lower back, "some scoliosis". What to do? Sounds like the Cervical spine is a minor deal...the lower spine does seem to need attention. I'm just trying to find out what needs to be done.
Avatar n tn A number of possibilities occur, generally involving problems with the neck and its bone structure, musculature, and nerves. For example, nerve compression in the neck due to neck trauma, cervical disk problems, or nerve root problems could cause the pain and numbness you're describing. But without a proper workup it's impossible to say. I suggest you have this looked at by your doctor, and/or a neurologist.
Avatar n tn The nurse had me drink some juice and lie down, it was about 10 minutes before I felt well enough to stand. The pain in my arm has not gone away and I am also experiencing itching. I went to see my doctor and he thought maybe a nerve had been hit by the needle.
Avatar n tn I do not know what topic regarding my wife's neck pain and also affecting her arm and figures. Can you suggest what kind of specialist she should see. She went to her family doctor and he only gave her medicines of BACLOFEN and IBUPROFEN. Because she had this problem for a few months already, I think she is better to see a specialist. We live in Norwalk, CA 90650 Best regards, Tim G.
Avatar f tn I get jaw pain but have not had surgery. To me it's very clearly from my neck since it radiates from my neck and into my arm and face (and jaw). Yours may be different, but your NS should be investigating possible nerve problems if he hasn't already. Is your NS a chiari specialist?
Avatar n tn Sounds like nerve pain which truly is painful. Depending which nerves are involved it could be from a neck or carpal tunnel injury.

Avatar m tn I get migraines in the back of my neck and right shoulder and a sting also around my right shoulder blade at times. Depends on how I hold my arm the pain will travel down my shoulder and arm . It doesn't matter if brushing my teeth, rinsing dishes, folding towels, typing, writing, driving everything makes me have the nerve pain. I am taking 800 mg ibuprofen 2 times daily and sometimes a Valium at night to relax neck and help me sleep.
Avatar f tn I have had this for over a year. I am waiting for some nerve tests. Today the pain got worse and I feel a pulling pain in my shoulder, my hand keeps going cold and i keep getting pins and needles and numbness in my fingers. Also my arm feels very heavy. Anyone knows what can this be?
Avatar m tn My neck pain has become much worse with time. I initially had a pinched nerve and then the pain started in my neck and went down my arm. I feel fine when I hold my arm over my head. I got x-rays and MRI done at OrthoTexas. The doctors over there said I have cervical neck pain and it needs to be treated asap. I am looking for a second opinion. Please help.
Avatar n tn the pain feels like being punched but in certain movements or extending my arms straight kinda feels like something is stretching along my arm to base of thumb. If i bend my arms pain is strongest in fold of arm and if i rest arm on elbow with hand in air fingers get numb.Pain has been there constant and doesn't leave even with vicadon pain pills.
Avatar f tn The tingling down the arm indicates a possible problem with the C7 nerve that originates at the 7th vertebra in your neck. It could be impinged (pinched) either in your neck at the nerve root or somewhere in the shoulder. I know it hurts having been through this myself many years ago, but it won't kill you. Your doctor may want to send you for an MRI of the cervical spine and/or shoulder before making a firm diagnosis.
Avatar m tn I was told that it could take a year for the nerves to heal.I had an ACDF 3 years ago.I still have some arm and neck pain plus occasional numbness in my thumb.I am not 100% cured but I am grateful for the surgical improvements.
Avatar f tn Lately she has been complaining of pain that runs down the arm to the tip of fingers and even up to back of neck and head. Pain sometimes goes to the other arm too. Should I take a to a neurologist and what x-ray do you suggest?
Avatar n tn The thing I can not understand is I have little to no pain in my neck. I do however have tremendous pain in my right shoulder blade and down my right arm into my hand. This has been going on for about 3 months and when I cough I have sharp pain in my shouder blade. Is this a normal sensation for a compressed nerve?
Avatar n tn About six months ago, I had moderate pain running down my under arms to my elbows along the nerve. Everytime I would stretch my arm the nerve would hurt. It first started on one arm, then the other shortly after. The stinging pain lasted for several months. After a while, it diminished. Over the last few weeks it has returned. It is very uncomfortable. Now it is not only under my arms, it goes down my side and now my right forearm is starting to have the same problem. Any thoughts?
