Nefazodone liver

Common Questions and Answers about Nefazodone liver

serzone

Avatar f tn t think Serzone has any heart side effects. Given your situation, it might be worth a try even with the risk of the liver issues. The liver issues can always be monitored.
Avatar f tn I might have a solution for you after examining the pharmacology of Nefazodone. To get about the same result you had with Nefazodone with no weight gain I would recommend sertraline (Zoloft) combined with Wellbutrin XL. To get a significant antagonizing effect to your 5-HT2 receptors you would need mirtazapine but it is related with weight gain so I would try the Zoloft with Wellbutrin XL which will basically in a SNDRI like Nefazodone and see how it goes.

Avatar m tn I've had chronic, severe nausea for the past year and I can't take it anymore. I get nauseated after everything I eat. It doesn't matter what. I can't even have breakfast anymore (I went from eating solids to drinking liquids, and now I can't eat anything at all). Sometimes I feel like I'm not even hungry, and other times I feel horribly hungry. I can only have small meals now and I can't have dairy or bread.
Avatar m tn In one case report, a patient with familial Mediterranean fever and amyloidosis involving the kidney, liver, and gastrointestinal tract was admitted to the hospital with life-threatening colchicine toxicity after a two-week course of erythromycin, a moderate CYP450 3A4 inhibitor. During the year prior to admission, the patient had developed recurrent diarrhea and abdominal pain and demonstrated toxic levels of colchicine on two occasions.
Avatar f tn Anyway, there are lots of options - ranging from a number of medications that have been well studied such as nefazodone, mirtazapine, and the tricyclic antidepressants, to supplements that seem to be effective (although probably somewhat less so) such as hypericum and s-adenosyl methionine. Finally there are a number of medications that are not routinely prescribed for depression that might be of use, and that list is a bit long to put here. In any event, the answer is yes.
Avatar f tn The interaction has also been reported in patients receiving atorvastatin, lovastatin, or simvastatin with other potent CYP450 3A4 inhibitors such as azole antifungal agents, macrolide antibiotics, HIV protease inhibitors, and nefazodone. Clinically, high levels of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitory activity in plasma may be associated with an increased risk of musculoskeletal toxicity.
Avatar f tn t working as well for me anymore, and I wanted to try to switch my meds anyway to improve my sex life. Well, after a rollercoaster of a year where I tried Wellbutrin first, then Nefazodone, then falling into a very deep depression I realized that I really do need to be on Zoloft. The other pills didn't really help my drive, but they did make sex more pleasurable and had quicker/easier orgasms. Now that I am going back, I am devastated to be losing that part of my life again.
Avatar f tn Yes been struggling bigtime. Doc was going to give me my pill of choice.
Avatar f tn There is an anti-d called nefazodone that might be a n option. It's an SNRI class. It's got got known liver side effects but this can be managed through careful monitoring. Brand names are Serzone or Nefadar. There was a recent study that demonstrated correlation between depression and QT variability. Also for panic disorder. Avatar m tn Have you tried an SNRI instead? people who do not tolerate SSRIs can usually bridge over to SNRIs. Google Nefazodone, if it's available where you are it might be an option. There were issues with liver function and it was taken off the market in some countries. I live in the USA and it was taken off the market but you can still get generic from TEVA. I've read many stories of people who couldn't touch anything else but this worked. Like any drug there's risk to liver.
Avatar f tn At the time I was taking Nefazodone and recently weaned off of that. I was on 50 mg Z for 3 weeks and was bumped up to 75 mg one week ago. My anxiety has been bad so I am taking klonopin for that. I'm not doing well emotionally and thought the zoloft would work by now since it's been a full month. I also have no desire to even try sexual activity because I know it's not going to be good with the zoloft. My doctor suggested adding 150 mg Wellbutrin.
Avatar m tn I am so sorry this is happening to your family. I think it is a personal decision. I will need a transplant (kidney) in time and I think my family would step up if I ever needed one. I know I would be so grateful beyond words. I think you need to talk to the dr's of what this means for you and if it is a possibility. Know the whole story first before you jeopardize your own health. No one would want that. I wish you the best in this decision. My prayers are with all of you.

Avatar n tn There have been a few cases of liver failure possibly related to the use of mesalamine (the active ingredient in Asacol HD), but I haven't read anything about fatty liver as a side effect. A fatty liver, it takes between 6 months and 2 years to fully reverse. Dr Sandra Cabot's article "Fatty Liver - What Is Fatty Liver And How To Reverse It?
Avatar m tn GGT is usually used to determine the cause of an elevated alkaline phosphatase (ALP). It is used in combination with other liver related blood tests. GGT is increased in most diseases that cause acute damage to the liver or bile ducts but is usually not helpful in distinguishing between different causes of liver damage.
