Hi there. There are many possibilities of swelling neck one side. It could be enlarged lymph node or thyroid lobe, submandibular gland, lipoma, sebaceous cyst etc. a surgeon needs to examine it to further come to a diagnosis. Some times fine needle aspiration cytology may be required for diagnosis. Take care.
I have a small lump maybe the sizeof a dime in tbe back of my neck on the left side under my ear. I also have this pulsing pain on the same side of my neck about every minute. don't know what to do .
My left lymph node is also a bit swollen compared to the right one. There is a slight pain where my neck is swollen. It is a little hard to swollow at times, but when I drink green tea it allows me to swollow a lot easier. I went to the Dr. a few days ago and was perscribed an antibiotic for an infection in the throat, which I have been taking for about 2 full days and the pain has subsided a little bit, but not the swelling.
The "sternocleidomastoid muscles" are most likely those which are giving you radiating pain from ear down to neck/shoulder/arm(Google for picture of this muscle if unfamiliar with its location). There are two of these muscles in the superficial layers of the anterior (front) portion of the neck that make the shape of a “V”, and they are primarily helpful in rotation, flexing and extension of the head.
Now last nite I was in SO MUCH PAIN(the EXTREME stress Ive been under could be causing the pain 2b worse)I really should have gone 2 the hospital. It was like some took a knife & was stabbing me in the inner ear & the pressure was EXCRUIATING, stemming from my inner ear, up 2(right side)my head & temple, around my eye socket, down, the whole side of my face, jaw, & throat.

It starts from behind the ear left side ...also goes to my ear, sometimes its beside the adams apple, sometimes it under the jaw bone...it also gives me sore throat upper side left...
It not there 24/7 i only feel the pain when i move my neck and my jawbone actually touches/ presses something and that time i feel the soreness... sometimes i feel fine no soreness nothing....symptoms come N go ...

Along with this pressure in my left temple, I have had neck pain, pain in my left shoulder....and numbness in my face and legs. I have had episodes of anxiety and felt like I was going to pass out. Went to the Dr. after about a week of the same issues non-stop. They gave me a CT scan, ran blood tests.....and everything checked out as fine. The Dr. (who is new to me) suggested I go to the ER...I don't feel like I am having enough issues to warrant an ER visit.
For the past five days my neck, ear, jaw and head have been hurting, ONLY on the left side. My neck feels achy and slightly stiff, I get a sharp pain that shoots through my ear when I swallow food and drink. I do have some slight swelling on my jaw. The pain is constant with no relief. I just moved and are without insurance right now. Just wondering if this is something I can wait out or if I should be seen for it and also would like some idea of what this is?
I have been experiencing a dull but constant pain under my right ear for almost a year now. If I push or massage the hard lump ( cervical lymph ) under my ear and massage upward toward the ear lobe and slowly open my mouth at the same time, I can feel drainage down my throat and I hear a cracking noise ( not every time, just more often than not ). It also feels most of the time as if I am tightening the muscles around my ear as someone would to wiggle the ears but I am not tightening them.

Now I have a constant pain left side of neck, sense of pretty intense pressure at bottom of back of my head, clicking in neck when turning my head, ear pressure, and most recently intense shooting pain in my left arm around my elbow.

I had a crown put on a couple of years ago that never seemed to fit quite right. There is a space between the crown itself and the gum line and the metal that was used is visible. Within the past few months I have started to notice a nasty odor coming from this crown when I floss, as well as some minor bleeding. The gum beneath the crown has recently started to cause a dull aching pain.
use a massage vibrator from behind the ear, to down under the jaw, working your way to where the clavicle meets the base of the neck next to the esophagus. If you are in a place where you cannot do that use your thumb and first finger to grab and massage the muscle from the jaw down to the front of the neck. Remember to search for a picture of this muscle on the internet to see what you are looking for.
I consult ENT 3 more times,they are preferred antibiotics,I used antibiotics at the time it is cured few days then again repeated.present I fell pain in left ear inside and outer side of the ear down part and I fell neck pain and left chest pain ,left hand pain also...my age is 29years old.

the neck pain was around the back of my jaw just under my left ear. this was due to confirmed swollen lymph nodes in my neck. this was causing discomfort and difficulty hearing in my left ear at times.
since then the sore throat and drainage have come and gone very frequently. the neck pain eventually faded, but i feel it every now and then.
i asked my doctor about it 2 weeks ago.
i had my ear and throat checked by a doctor, the doctor saw no infection in my ear, but did see fluid.
I have swelling under my left ear. On June 11 had large cyst-like structure removed from left side of neck. It turned out to be throid cancer, so I had total thyroidectomy June 17. On July 31, I had 200 mCl RAI treatment. I'm just starting to get feeling back in my neck on that side, and today I noticed the left side is definitely bigger under the ear than the right side. The swelling is not painful. I'm worried about it being a cancerous lymph node.

I been felling pain in the left side of my neck for 10 days, it also goes to my left ear like a palpitation that hurt. and when I move my head to the righ I feel like my head is goig to fall of my neck. sometimes I feel that my heart beat rapidily for a minute or so and then come back to normal. Can someone help me because I really want to know. my family has history of heart problems, but It could also means just stress. thanks.!
I am 47 years of age and for the last two days have been experiencing sharp pain in my left temple. The pain seems to have spread somewhat, about the size of a 50 cent piece this morning. My head also feels like it is under pressure and has begun to slightly jerk, like a tic of some form. The left side of my neck feels pressure as well. Any suggestions?
