My father has pain in his neck at the right side below the sub mammary gland. 25 years ago,He had his tonsils removed too. This pain is happening quite often. Anti-biotiocs do not have any effect. All the required tests have been done, at the end he had a PET scan of his whole body. Everything is normal but he still has horrible pain. The reason for this is unknown. HE ALSO HAS CERVICAL SPONDOLISIS. I would really like to know what kind of disease he's facing.
this was about 7 weeks ago now, the headaches were like electric shock pains shooting near the wound at first, now, i have aches in my neck (Doctor said it was whiplash from the fall) now the pains are in the neck, but severe in the rightn side of my head, the pain increases when i shout which i think is because i am moving my neck, or if i try to shout at teh kids, the pain is unbearable, i am walking around holding my head all the time for the pain.
It also looked slightly swollen
After 3 days the severe pain subsided however there is still pain where I turn my head to the right, the pain feels like it goes from the top of my neck near the base of my skull and runs dowm to my neck to my upper back
I've been to my gp who advised I need physio for a facet joint and am waiting for an appointment
Does anyone know what I can do to help and is this normal to have pain like this for 3 months
I have head pain on my left side. It comes and goes and it happens just about everyday for the last two weeks. I'm starting to worry that something is seriously wrong. Is this a common anxiety symptom. I also have neck pain and I go to the gym. Could I have pulled a muscle in my neck that's causing the pain. Please help!
One week ago I developed a small lump on the back of my head since then I get severe pain on the left side of my head! At times it goes away and I feel fine. The lump has since gone away. But the pain is still here and at times I just want to scream. Any ideas! I have been to the doctor twice and no ideas!
For the last 7-8 months, Ive been experiencing inner ear pain (below the earlobe, down the side of the neck - which is quite severe), and neck pain, at the front of my throat along the right side of my windpipe. At first, I thought it was my thyroid - so I had it checked and it was fine. My GP of course, made me feel like I was out of my mind and told me to take vitamins.

Disc herniation or prolapse in the neck can result in nerve compression in the neck. The electric shock like sensations in the neck can be due to pinched nerve.
Do you get these sensations on bending forwards or turning the neck to one side?
For years now i've had a pain at the base of my neck on the right side, it hurts if I apply slight pressure, I suffer from headaches, which if left almost always turns into a migraine but they always start at this point in my neck, it feels like a small lump, if I apply pressure to it & deep massage it it hurts like hell but does slightly ease the pain, could this be a tension knot? If anyone could help it would be much appreciated!

Well on Tuesday I noticed some slight discomfort on the back of my neck and just thought it might be down to stress. I noticed there is a small lump on the left side on the back of my neck, just below my hairline. I would say the lump is quite hard and when I press it there is some discomfort, it's not painful, just uncomfortable. In the surrounding area of my neck it's also uncomfortable when I press down and there is another one of these type of lumps/spots lower down.
I been having pain on the left side of my body. It my start out as knee pain and then a couple minutes later my whole left side is in pain. I have constant headaches in the temple area on the left side as well. Yesterday i started experiencing sharp pains near the rip cage area. My friend thinks it maybe arthritis or something. If your symptoms are positional, varying with movement, worsening in certain positions, one possibility is that they are related to arthritis in your neck. that forms on the left side of my neck in back of my lower ear--gets smaller if I massage it, but does not go away. The muscles on the left side of my neck are tense and hard, almost like they are atrophying. I just had this pain on the left side of my face. Generally pain in the back portion of the head originates from the neck problems due to irritation in the cervical (neck) spine because the nerves that supply the back of the head start in the upper cervical spine. Mostly, this kind of head pain aggravates after turning head and typically occurs in patients with previous neck injuries and in patients with marked arthritis of the upper cervical spine.
Did you have an FNA recently, Tricia? The reason I ask is because two weeks after my FNA I had neck pain on the whole left side that felt like I had whiplash and I also had a cold/sore throat. The neck pain lasted about a week and the sore throat lasted maybe 3 days. No one else seemed to think it was related to the FNA, but I couldn't figure out anything else it could be.
I have a small lump maybe the sizeof a dime in tbe back of my neck on the left side under my ear. I also have this pulsing pain on the same side of my neck about every minute. don't know what to do .
Thank you Sue for your feedback. I actually did feel much better after taking methamazole too. Have been taking it for about a month and 1/2. Big improvement, this is why this pain confused me and did not know where it came from out of no where. I do have a goiter that was big enough to notice, since taking methamazole though it has decreased in size considerably. Maybe the pain is coming from that. Or maybe it is getting bigger again..don;t know.
Hi there. There are many possibilities of swelling neck one side. It could be enlarged lymph node or thyroid lobe, submandibular gland, lipoma, sebaceous cyst etc. a surgeon needs to examine it to further come to a diagnosis. Some times fine needle aspiration cytology may be required for diagnosis. Take care.
