2062559 tn?1331581942 I have transient head, cranial and neck pain and concomitant vertigo. I just had a MRA that covered the circle of willis(no contrast) and a MRA of cervical neck. I've had this problem for 5 months it is less intense as it was but still have balance issues and the sense that I could go into a spin. Am I on the right track with this or do I need to ask for some other kind of test with my neuro doctor? My fear is that nothing will show and he will dismiss it back to menieres.
Avatar f tn for the past 7 days i have been having back pain with stiff neck or pain in my neck because i can still turn my head it's just that it's painfull when i turn it, but today i experienced slight dizziness , i have gone to the hospital and i was given some medication, but the pain still persist. what could be the cause?
Avatar n tn Inner ear causes of vertigo most commonly include benign positional vertigo (BPPV), which is due to small particle in the inner ear that moves out of place, and can be repositioned with simple head maneuvers. The symptoms often include vertigo that occurs with turning of the head, often while turning over in bed. Another cause, if your symptoms are associated with tinnitus (ear ringing) and hearing loss is called Meniere’s disease and can be treated with medications and sometimes surgery.
Avatar f tn precipitation of head pain by neck movement or awkward neck positions, head pain when external pressure is applied to the neck or occipital region (as it sounds like is the case in you), restricted range of motion of the neck, and neck, shoulder and arm pain. Treatment for cervicogenic headache includes physical therapy, medications including anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs such as ibuprofen), muscle relaxants, behavioral therapy, and other modalities.
Avatar f tn There are several causes of vertigo, one of which is cervicogenic vertigo. As you know, dizziness can have many causes. Vertigo, or "room-spinning dizziness" can be caused by several different types of inner ear problems and less commonly from central nervous system diseases. Cervical disease (such as a herniated disc in the cervical (neck) region or arthritis of the spine) can cause vertigo, though this is not common.
2062559 tn?1331581942 I'm sorry. Let me be a little more clearer. I've gone down the road of Meniere's disease. The symptoms are different. I have the hearing loss and transient vertigo but much more that Meniere's doesn't. I have severe neck pain, I have a shooting liquid feeling that goes up my neck to my head after sitting and driving for 30-45 min. when I stand up and get out of the car. Is is blood? or is it CSF? I also have unsteadiness (6 months) esp when in the shower with closed eyes.
Avatar f tn Can't figure out what's going on or what to do terrible neck pain foggy headed lightheaded dizziness not really any vertigo to speak of head just feels detached and funny please help
Avatar f tn What does it mean to have massive pain in the back of your head and neck that also causes dizziness and slight fainting?
Avatar n tn Regarding your vertigo, while neck problems can certainly contribute to vertigo, vertigo that occurs with changes in body position would more commonly be caused by other causes. Vertigo, or room-spinning type of dizziness, has many causes that can generally be divided into inner ear problems and neurologic problems. Inner ear problems include one condition called Benign Paroxysmal Positional vertigo, in which brief attacks of dizziness are brought about by head position changes.
Avatar n tn Could it be two problems?? Neck pain and the dizzy/spinning could be vertigo. http://www.emedicinehealth.com/vertigo/article_em.
Avatar f tn If you use computer a lot or read a lot then the symptoms of headache, dizziness, neck pain, numbness etc could be due to compression of the spinal nerves in the cervical spine region. This can happen due to overuse of computers, work involving straining of neck, herniated disc, canal stenosis, bone disease, spondylosis, poor posture etc. A MRI of the cervical spine and nerve conduction studies may be required. Please consult a neurologist.
6780421 tn?1384730327 Hello, Leaving an infected tooth with an abscess untreated can cause lightheadedness. This can occur when the infection spreads into the nerves of the ears which in turn can cause you to become dizzy. Information comes to part of brain from the vestibular system located in the inner ears which help keep the body upright and allow it to move in a coordinated fashion. Vertigo is caused due to dysfunction of the vestibular system. Ear causes are the commonest causes of vertigo.
1556140 tn?1311846527 Just recently i have started to get neck pain, and horrible vertigo type symptoms whenever i move my head, esp when i look up, i also find that lifting my daughter (2yrs) causes everything to spin and makes the headache worse. I am nauseous and have lost quite a bit of weight recently although i have been eating as normal (nagging husband makes me eat!!!) I am not stressed although i have a history of depression (i am not depressed now, quite the opposite in fact).
Avatar f tn I had similar problems for a year before diagnosis and it turned out that I had arthritis in in a disk in my neck. if I turn my head too far to the left it causes nerves to be touched and i have vertigo and a feeling of pressure, like someone put their hand on the back of my head. your problem may only be an ear infection or something else like that. i just wanted you to know what i found out after a year of going to doctors. I had no pain in my neck.
383951 tn?1211672626 This leads to what is called as the neck vertigo or the cervical vertigo. I have not seen such a case in my own experience, but our great teachers from whom we learned, have described the condition. I just wish I was born a little earlier. The ENG is actually a good test, but to diagnose the cervical vertigo, the doctor must be alert and must be able to interpret the test properly. Can you confirm if the ENG has been ordered for the same purpose ?
Avatar f tn As I waited for my appointment with a neurologist, other symptoms appeared. My body was itchy and burning, I had muscle spasms and pain, the pain and spasms came along with burning sensations. My neck began hurting so much I felt as if my head was too heavy for it. I had tingling and numbing sensations all over, even on my lips and tongue. I also experienced migranes. I remember having such a bad migrane one saturday morning and ever since I now see visual floaters.
Avatar f tn If by dizziness you mean vertigo (room-spinning), the causes could be either the inner ear or the brain. Inner ear causes of vertigo most commonly include benign positional vertigo (BPPV), which is due to small particle in the inner ear that moves out of place, and can be repositioned with simple head maneuvers. The symptoms often include vertigo that occurs with turning of the head, often while turning over in bed.
Avatar f tn And I wonder if your neck and arm pain is from tensing? I never had any musculature involvement other than I would lay there or hold my head a certain way to try to make it better and my neck might get stiff. Think about what Eustachian tube dysfunction is. Basically, the canal closes in on itself. How would that affect your neck muscles? or arm muscles? Probably would not. That sounds either from tensing or anxiety.
146298 tn?1258712247 Doctor, I've been getting these headaches which begin as a deep pain behind my eye. They go from my eye to my jaw and specific points of pain are jaw, base of skull, top of skull, behind ear, where shoulder meets neck. When I have such a headache I am very dizzy, technically it's vertigo. After the ache has begun my nostril slowly closes itself and adds a bit to the pressure, but I've had sinus headaches and this is different.
Avatar n tn Most times from what I understand the pain is more localized toward the back of the neck around the head area, but the latest one was hit on the left side of the head. Like most migranes it causes nausea, sensitivity to light, severe pain... ect. She said that she sees white lights and everything. What makes this different, is 5 years ago she got virtigo. It lasted about 2 to 3 weeks. Until then she'd lived her life migrane free..
Avatar f tn I don"t know what's going on. Symptoms started last night. Sever headache pain in top center of head. Been feeling dizzy, and vomitted last night. Woke up today still feeling nausha, and now my i have allot of sinus pressure and feel like i have vertigo. Now my headache is getting worse. also have been having slight mental confussion.
Avatar n tn In the presence of a normal MRI (the mucous cyst is not concerning), this excludes the more worrisome causes of vertigo such as tumors or MS. Other potential causes could include a migraine equivalent called basilar migraine. This is usually but not always associated with headache, in addition to vertigo, nausea and sometimes other symptoms. If you have a history of headache associated with your symptoms this is one possibility.
