Avatar f tn addition notes. dont take pain killers they make migraines come back much worse when they wear off. pain killers do nothing for inflammation. consider getting a blood glucose test and testing yourself. thats what im doing next. and botox is not a cure but it does help reduce attacks. exercise and get a sleep routine vs sleeping in and staying up late one day then doing something entirely different the next. our systems are sensative and best thing to do is not stress it out.
Avatar n tn I have neck and back pain everyday. The MRI showed small herniated disks in neck but the back MRI was clear. I have pain in the middle of my back and anything physical makes it worse. It all started with severe migraines. My hands shake now all the time and the pain in unexplained still after not working for 5 months. My physical therapist believes that it is a sympathetic nervous system problem but doesnt think i should still be in so much pain. My family Dr.
469349 tn?1217606941 Be seen at Emergency Room or Health Care Site Could be Migraine -- go into dark room, lay flat and stay very still. Sometimes to tie something tight around your head (base of neck to forehead) can relieve some of the pressure/pain. Wait it out -- maybe 2-3 days.
Avatar n tn Cervicogenic headaches may also present with associated neck pain. Have you ever injured your neck or any positional factors eg position while lying in bed or when sitting down? Get a consult with your physician as taking Imitrex everyday for the headaches may cause rebound headaches especially when combined with other anitimigraine medications like analgesics.
Avatar n tn It feels as if the pain starts in my neck(it always feels stiff like it needs to be popped but nothing..) and goes to the base of my skull and just radiates the pain in the back of my head. It feels like I can feel my pulse in the back of my skull with the pain. Could this be from bad posture? Would one of those shoulder posture braces help? Or should I goto the Dr. and ask for them to MRI me up and check it out? I have a history of head aches and migraines also..

Avatar m tn Andrew, I have lived with neck pain since 1990 from a car accident I was in. I also had migraines from my injury for years and was taking injections for my migraines. It was the only thing I could take to help me function for the day, otherwise I would be "down" all day. Sometimes my migraines would last days. It was very difficult to deal with the pain so I understand what you are going through. I ended up having neck fusion at 2 different levels.
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome to the Migraines & Headaches Community. First of all. 2 Advil is not much at all! I take 4 every 4-6 hrs! Four is prescription strength. I am not saying you can take that many.....my doctor says some ppl can take Advil and some cannot. I am just saying.....try it. You will know if it makes you sick or not. Second, I recommend you see a Neurologist. They can properly diagnose you and put you on some preventative drugs as well as abortive drugs to treat the migraines.
Avatar f tn I suffer from chronic migraines in the back of my head & down my neck since a car accident 6 months ago. Since then I have spent days at a time in the bed due to the pain from my migraines. I never know when they are coming and nothing in particular causes them to come on. I can just raise my head off the pillow in the morning and a migraine will slam me. I can turn my head to look at something and it will trigger one.

Avatar f tn There are many causes for pain in head and neck region. If no cause is found, we try the 'straitjacket' diagnoses of primary headaches, like migraine. Your pain in the neck and shoulder on one side, and the history of whiplash many years back, points to a headache caused by injury to the cervical spine or its neighboring structures. (Cervicogenic Headache) Even among doctors, this is a controversial entity.
589762 tn?1330207135 I also suffer from migraines; however, my migraines disappeared after the first trimester and did not resurface until after I gave birth, so perhaps those pregnancy hormones are good for something! But anyway, during TTC and those first trimester weeks, there were a few things that helped me. -- Ice. I would put an ice pack on my neck or head, wherever I needed relief. -- Sleeping on my stomach. I know it's hard to think about when you're preggo.
Avatar n tn Sharp pain and sometimes warm/feverish and is always on the same spot of left top head side. Her neck also always hurt 24/7 and whenever she presses her neck, it also triggers the migraine. Can it be hormonal because that is what she is saying. Avatar f tn My girlfriend has had migraines for most of her life, it runs in her immediate family. Symptoms include sharp pain in the back of her head and/or neck, dizziness, blurry vision, loss of hearing or ringing in her ears and sometimes feels like she's going to pass out. She had a CT scan and they said it was clean but she's scared. Is it just really bad headaches or could they have missed something worse?

Avatar f tn One is dental ache as in an exposed root canal. This causes shooting unbearable pain radiating to head, neck, shoulder, ear, everywhere in the head and neck region I would say. A visit to your dentist is a must and should be the first step. The second possibility is an internal ear pain. Again it is the same as dental pain. Consult an ENT specialist for this. The third possibility is brain tumor. You would need to consult a neurologist.

Avatar m tn I ran out of room, sorry. I've had a standard blood test run, everything was negative except for my thyroid chemical which was slightly high. (Normal is 0-4.5 mine was 4.6). Had a sedentary rate test as well. It was normal. MRI of my head and spine were both normal as well except for evidence of arthritis in my neck (At 22 that seems weird to me).

Avatar m tn Prior to, during, and after the migraine I have severe cracking (crackling, popping) in my neck. I have been trained to do neck exercises by pain management and I did then last week, it resulted in a 3-day migraine where pain went from left side and neck to right side and when worse it's usually behind my eye or temple area. Its not as severe when in back of my head.
