Avatar m tn In late September 2013 I began to get chest pain left of my sternum when sitting down. I will still sit down and within a few minutes begin to have chest pain. The longer I sit the worse the pain is. It is only when sitting. When I stand it will very slowly alleviate. On Nov 22 2013 after weeks of this chest pain while sitting at my desk my heart felt like it stopped then started again. It was painful. I nearly passed out and couldn't breathe very well.
Avatar n tn I also have been suffering with shoulder and neck pain, and even upper back. I was wondering if the two could be related. I was tested for hormonal problems, thyroid problems, myalgias, and anything else they routinely test for when they take your blood. I was given a low dose of antiepressant to help me sleep at night so I am not awakened with the pain. This helps at night, but I am getting weary of the constant ache.
Avatar n tn ve seen the DO 4 times, seen a dentist for possible TMJ, seen an ENT (nothing wrong in my throat after looking inside), seen a neurologist (nothing neurological, he sid ) about my neck pain for 9-10 weeks. the pain subsides a bit when i am standing up and i feel the front of my neck tightening when i am sitting down. i have asked over and over but got no answer if there is some muscle pulling somewhere that's straining my neck when i sit down?

Avatar m tn I have pain in my neck, right shoulder blade area and my right arm. The pain is different depending on what I am doing. When lowering my head to get in my car or just moving up and down, the pain is in my neck. Sitting in bed it is in my shoulder and arm and sometimes my arm will have a slight numbing sensation. Coughing and sneezing, there is shooting pains through all three. Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?
Avatar f tn Went to emergency with severe pain in right shoulder, up into the neck and down the right arm (woke up with it). Have been on 500 mg. Naproxen , twice daily, for 3 weeks, and 10 mg. Pms-cyclobenzaprine every 8 hours. I'm still experiencing pain plus some new tingling down the arm. Should I be going back to my doctor? It seems this is taking an unusually long time to get better.

Avatar f tn It is tricky, but you might try training his jumping at the door when the mailman comes out of him, particularly as he gets older - otherwise the susceptibility to injuries to his shoulder and neck may become more prevalent.
5154898 tn?1374773319 Roll a towel and place it under your neck while sleeping on the back and between head and shoulder when lying on the side. Initially this will be uncomfortable but with time the acupressure will work. Use an analgesic cream or spray. Anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants also help. Also, you must improve your posture while sitting and working. Manual therapy, neck exercises etc should all be tried as all these can help relieve pain. Do show this to your doctor once. Take care!
Avatar n tn Then it started being consistent. The pain traveled up to the top of my shoulder and my neck and sometimes down my arm. A little background: I can pop my shoulder in and out of place by myself with no pain. I could do that since I was little. During summer, (June and July) I had x-rays and an MRI done of my neck. The doctors thought I could have something on my spine by my neck causing the pain to travel down.
Avatar f tn I have had pain in my shoulder for the past month. It hurts more when I sit, use the computer or stand still for long periods. It feels like a knife in my shoulder and it travels down my arm. I also get tingling from time to time. The pain is so severe at times that it takes my breath away. I have been going to physio for 3 weeks with little help and now I will start accupuncture. What can I do? We are going on a road trip in a week and sitting in the car is very uncomfortable.

Avatar m tn The back pain is primarily when standing or sitting and when I lie down the pain resorts to my chest/abdomen.
Avatar f tn Hi Back pain with referred pain to arm worse when sitting or lying down and feels better with movement is usually caused by ankylosing spondylitis. This is a genetic condition. Medicines, physiotherapy, exercises and drugs to suppress immunity are the mainstay of treatment. A back pain with referred pain to arm that is worse on lying down or felt mainly on lying down can also be due to a tumor within the spinal cord. A neurological examination can pinpoint the site.
Avatar m tn 6 weeks ago I woke up with a really sore upper back and pain under my right shoulder blade. The pain is now down my tricep and along my outer forearm into my ring and pinky finger. The pain is not constant but really hurts when it does. Sometime the triecp and forearm hurt more than the upper back. I have full range of motion and no weakness. It hurts worst when driving or sitting at my computer.
Avatar n tn I've had some mild pain in my shoulder blades going up on both sides of my neck and my right ear always, every day for years has felt partially clogged. I also have a dull pain in the upper part of my left breast that has been there for about six months now. I've had a dry cough scratchy throat for two weeks. I have been tired and sleepy all the time for months also. I take Lisinopril and Premarin, and 54 and quit smoking about 10 months ago.
Avatar n tn My son had similar problems with his neck and shoulder, and he is only 20 yrs. old. What I did was I took him an orthopedic specialist. He treated him conservatively with the muscle relaxers, etc. By the third visit I demanded he do an MRI to find out what's going on. He had an MRI on his neck and shoulder. They found a torn ligament in his shoulder. You really should get at the least, x-rays, but an MRI is better. You need to know what's going on.
Avatar m tn I have persistent neck pain and headache. I am conscious of it when I get up in the morning and it worsens during the day but is never severe. If I concentrate on something or watch a movie etc the pain level goes down / almost goes away. I also feel I have a slight problem in tilting my head to the right - I feel a pain similar to a muscle pull on my shoulder. I get feelings of mild nausea occaisionally. If I put on my phone headset in the office pain becomes more.

Avatar f tn Especially since these problems started and were originally diagnosed when I was 39? I was prescribed muscle relaxants and Celebrex. These help with pain, but I have developed an itchy, unremitting rash on my right shoulder and should probably stop taking meds to see if any of them are causing it? I tried glucosamine but the pain and cracking remained and sometimes my head hurts on the right side too. I also have Hashimoto’s (TPO antibodies over 1,000) take 75mcg Levoxyl per day. There is a 1.
Avatar n tn Thanks. I seen a Rheumatologist only because of other health issues. He has ordered bloodwork, and says he is going to try and help me figure this out. By the way what is a manual medecine doctor? Sorry, the term does not sound familar. Did anyone here have similar symptoms of neck pain. It helps to know what others experiences are like.
Avatar f tn The pins and needles in your shoulder area, sharp neck pain and pain radiating down your arms are all typical of Cervical radiculopathy and the neck pain and stiffness could be caused by any one of your effected levels. Increased leg reflexes, weakness in the arms and legs and Dysphagia are all symptoms of Cervical spinal stenosis. I’m curious as to why the Neurologist that did your EMG wasn’t able to pin down the origin of the nerve supplying the muscle that had abnormal activity.
505568 tn?1210578678 Hello Dear, It seems that the trauma in cervical region is causing the shoulder pain and weakness. You should consult a physical therapist and do neck exercises and if he suggests you can take traction which may help you.
Avatar f tn I have ACM 1, my last MRI showed it only at about 7 mm which was a little over a year ago. Last week I was sitting on the couch and had pain in my neck. This happens a lot but always goes away once I get up and start moving or just change positions on the couch. However, this time it got A LOT worse! The pain is simply debilitating when I lay down! In fact I've had to keep a towel under my neck to help me move it when I'm laying down.
Avatar n tn I have already been diagnosed with arthritis but I'm not sure if the pains I experience are related to arthritis as I've not read anywhere of someone who experiences the same as me. I get a lot of neck, upper back & shoulder pain, and when I raise my arms higher than shoulder level I experience pins and needles in my hands which is quite severe, this is accompanied by numbness in the hands & shoulders. Then the shoulders will seize and are then painful to move.
