The thing I can not understand is I have little to no pain in my neck. I do however have tremendous pain in my right shoulder blade and down my right arm into my hand. This has been going on for about 3 months and when I cough I have sharp pain in my shouder blade. Is this a normal sensation for a compressed nerve?
He has had to go to the ER a few times and x-rays were normal. He went to the dr. yesterday and she gave him Flexeril and Ultram but they don't seem to help the pain. Tonight I put hot, wet washrags (making them hotter slowly) and after waiting about 15 minutes, rubbed ben-gay on his neck and shoulder muscles. He says 'if I could just crack my neck, I think it would feel allot better'. Any other suggestions about what I can do to help him?
Hello- I've been having a nagging pain in my neck and shoulder blade( mostly on the left shoulder blade) for several months now. I have always thought it is either my mattress or pillow that's causing it and have changed several to no sucess. I went to a orthopedician last year and he made me do a bunch of hand/leg movements and also took xrays, which were all normal. He suggested I get an MRI (which I didnt get, since I wasnt very happy with the doctor).
I have had an MRI of my shoulder and x-ray of my wrist, and neck. (4 years ago) NO MRI OF SPINE, HEAD, NECK although the Dr has ordered an MRI of my neck this month. The bones and joints appear healthy,. nerve testing indicated my nerves were working ok (3 years ago) No tests have been done on my arteries and no bone scans. Physiotherapy and chiropractor..not intensive enough to make a difference. Deep tissue massage helps ease muscle pain and stretches also help to ease the pain.
1.) A hemangioma is a primary, benign tumor most common in the thoracic and lumbar spine. Most don't cause any symptoms. Do you have localized pain at T2, it would be just below the C7-T1 bump at the bottom of your neck?

about 10 years ago i was lifting a heavy item when i felt a pop in my neck just behind my right ear then i felt a throbing banging sensation in the same position i sat down and after a while it calmed down after that i felt very dizzy for a few weeks but every time a strained i got dizzy and if i stained really hard i would get the same banging feeling in my neck i also get a grinding in neck around the same pos as initial injury since then it has just been a down hill slope ive had constant s

My pinky is still numb and now the tips of all my fingers are numb, I have a pain in my wrist that follows my thumb line upward and sometimes it goes to all of my fingers, sometimes it stays in the thumb and it feels like it does when you stick your tongue to a battery. that little zzz you get. Also, my neck and shoulder, down by the shoulder blade, ache like a rottening tooth!!
The muscles distal to the involved body part are the essential ones to test, as this involves the movement and strength of your arm/hand. The neck muscles are affected to a lesser degree as the pain in that area (and shoulder) is more a factor of nerve involvement. Since you know that you have a bulged (herniated) disc, the extent of the herniation and level of pain you are experiencing will help determine the course of treatment.
I was in a car crash last april and have a right shoulder injury and neck pain. I had 12 weeks of physio after and had my last session in dec. I have been ok since unitl two weeks ago.I have the pain back again. I was studying for my mock exams and doing a lots of writting could this have made it worse? please help! Six months ago, I strained my muscle between my neck and shoulder, after running. Sometimes, the pain started at the base of the skull and at times my shoulder. I went to the doctor and took a xray that did not show a dislocated or herinated disc. I went on vacation and did not run but swim. I was free of pain. I have started back to running and thepain is back. What could be wrong?
m still unsure as to whether or not I have chiari malformation, but have been having pretty bad neck stiffness with the pain now moving down my spine to between/just below my shoulders (the pain between my shoulders is a sharp pain whereas my neck pain is dull). I have persistent neck pain and headache. I am conscious of it when I get up in the morning and it worsens during the day but is never severe. Well, want to share my stories... when I was doing physio stretching in last 9 months, sometimes I had to go for message as well to relax muscle as suggested by Physio; recently I was going to new massage therapist close to my house, I only had 2 treatments, on last wednesday she treated me but she did put hard pressure on my back on hip/sciatic nerve and after that I am having shooting pain all the way to my leg, sitting, walking, sleeping on that side hurt me......

A little over a week ago I woke up with what felt like a pulled muscle in my neck, which causes stiff neck and pain in my neck and shoulder on the right side. Two days later, it had radiated up to my jaw and ear (still right side only) and sometimes would cause me to feel pain behind my right eye-sort of like a migraine.
