1451080 tn?1438531260 I have just been diagnosed with high blood pressure and have started a low carb diet. As a family of 5 with two children and myself being on meds and only one person working, I need some economical low carb ideas for meals and/or snacks. The low carb thing is new to my entire family. Any info would be helpful. Also, any info on how to naturally lower my blood pressure is also welcome. Thanks!
Avatar f tn But, they said the same thing 3 months ago, and we were able to pull through, so I'm not throwing in the towel just yet. We've taken her completely off of her high blood pressure medicine (Enalapril), and cut her diuretic dosage (Furosemide) in half, but are keeping her dosage of Spironolactone the same at 7mg 2x day. I've taken it upon myself to begin giving her Milk Thistle and Vitamin B Complex, as of a few hours ago.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have high blood pressure too. What Bloke1981 has explained is entirely true. In april 2009 I was rushed to the ER for a rapid heartrate after eating, 133 bpm. After ondergoing several test I was diagnosed (may 2009) with mild mitral valve prolapse with mild regurgitation. Since then I am on beta blockers, Nebivolol (Bystolic) for tachycardia. before that my resting heartrate was around 80/90. Now my heart rate is around 55-70.
Avatar n tn You are wise to work on getting your blood pressure down, though. Has it been high before? Does high blood pressure run in your family? A lot of things can raise blood pressure, including stress and anxiety, lots of caffeine, too many drinks that have alcohol in them, too much salt in the diet, being overweight, not enough physical activity, etc.
Avatar n tn the low blood pressure at night is likely your main problem. studies show that is a HUGE factor in glaucoma progression. i have no ideas on how to keep your blood pressure up at night. st john's wort is the biggest one i can think of off the top of my head that increases iop. lutien & bilberry are fine. almost every "eye factor" type over-the-counter supplement is fine. but those are targeted toward fighting off macular degeneration...not glaucoma.
4939681 tn?1361302899 I would lay down, the nurse would take my blood pressure it would be normal. I stood up and my blood pressure dropped dangerously low, about 30 points less which caused me to pass out or become very dizzy in less than a minute. Not sure if yours is like that but I would say Lyme does have an effect on BP because of all the people I know that have that. In my non medical opinion.

179332 tn?1273250959 It took a month and a half for my allergy sympton to clear, the hives and swelling and burning feeling. Because of this I am stressed out and anxious, adding to the high blood pressure. Any solution to this problem anyone? Please share!
Avatar f tn In early February of this year, I was diagnoised with high pressure in both eyes. the eye dr found a hemmorrage on the optical nerve of my right eye. About 3 weeks later, I broke out with shingles on the right side of my head and right ear. Is it possible that the high pressure was a forerunner of the shingles? Once my shingles are cleared up is it possible the high pressure in my eyes will go down?

1166523 tn?1264368243 I adjusted my diet slowly. I used to love fast food. I have perfect blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, etc. since changing my diet three years ago. There is not much that can be done for my MS but I can be in the best shape otherwise.
Avatar n tn HI, I had a baby 9 months ago and would like to lose some weight manily due to high blood pressure. I have been researching that vitamins b-2, b-3, b-5, & B-6 all help with this. I was wondering if anyone know if it is safe to take these supplements? I am healthy but currently don't have insurance to go talk to a doctor. has anyone tried this way also. i refuse to do diet pills because they don't work. Or if you have any other ideas?
Avatar f tn So the cause is damage to the cells in the first place. This can be due to high blood pressure, lack of certain vitamins etc or even genetic. Statin drugs don't work because they lower cholesterol. We know this because patients who have low cholesterol without taking statins also get heart disease. So it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that your lipid levels are nothing to do with it.
Avatar f tn I dont have macular degeneration or any of those eye diseases you metioned in your response. BUt i do drink High blood pressure medication. I also drink a very low dosage diabetic pills (2.5 mg). Both of my HB Pressure and Sugar are in control and my blood works says that eveything is normal with the exception of my cholesterol which was a little high. Now, I have lost weight and everyhing is normal.
Avatar m tn Also, my Cardiologist told me that the benzo meds don't affect the blood pressure at all or have a MILD effect on the blood pressure when someone is under stress and that their blood pressure is high... who is not my case...
Avatar f tn I hope the naturopath had him on high B vitamins. Low blood sugar can trigger seizures but that has not happened in our family. (They just become combative! Heheh.) I agree with the person who posted that the lightning flashes are migraines but want to alert you that too much B6 will do that too. Keppra can cause brain fog but so can chronic fatigue syndrome. People with CFS often fail Tilt Table Test. Let us know what his current status is. I'm sure the neurologists have no clue.
1428440 tn?1287393979 Constipation, miralax helped and lots of high fiber cereal. I will not let that get out of control again. I do have high blood pressure and I am a diabetic, only take the meteforman for it. I did read when I was researching the suboxone that some natural substances could interfere with the med. so I will consult at least the pharmacist. Dr if I can reach him. I hate calling there they keep offering sleeping pills which I am not ready to try yet.
Avatar f tn ) Garlic has a blood thinning component, and they recommend it to people with high blood pressure and women who are taking hormones that might make them prone to clotting. Conversely, they say not to take it if youre on blood thinning meds. In countries where a lot of it is eaten (the Mediterranean diet for eg.) researchers have said that these populations suffer less from heart disease, high blood pressure, etc. I can't for the life of me think why the pills would be bad?
Avatar n tn Things like rashes, joint aches, extreme fatigue, nausea, dizziness, whole body sweats, eyes like sandpaper, can't sleep, and blood pressure spikes that drove me to ER where they always check my heart, which is just fine thanks to 4 stress tests. Always the same thing - everything is fine. Well, last week I was dx with Hep C. I could possibly have had it for over 30 years! Guess I'm not crazy. I'm sorry you are having so much trouble.
Avatar f tn intestines, food allergy, blood test and defficiencies etc.. All okay!! The only thing that stand out is the extremely high levels of IGE in my blood... Any one has this problem?? And can you help make sense of it all?
Avatar n tn by Julia Indichova. She was diagnosed with very high FSH's and tried many different natural remedies when conventional medicine couldn't help her. The month she conceived, her FSH was over 30. She had been flatly told this was impossible. The book goes into great detail about the things she tried.

Avatar n tn Don't know anything about "Serenity" or "Amoryn", however, Brigham had some good suggestions. I am familiar with GABA and DHA (fish oil). An alternative medical doctor suggested that I take GABA for anxiety as I have "white coat" syndrome. My blood pressure shoots up sky high when I walk into a doctor's office. They get readings like 186/110, whereas, this mornming my blood pressure was 118/82. Normal is considered 120/80.
Avatar n tn Levemir should not increase your blood pressure. But stress and anxiety can. Your very high blood sugar is going to cause you complications. What is your correction factor? How many units of insulin does it take to bring your blood sugar down by say 20 points. But you can only test this properly AFTER you've adjusted your levemir and have your non-eating (basal) blood sugar stable. Becuase for now the humalog is replacing too low basal insulin.
Avatar n tn I just had my 7th lumbar puncture - note to the doctor to take both opening and closing pressure. It is very indicative of high or low CSF pressure. I have been fortunate to have found a neurologist that did his fellowship at the Cleveland Headache clinic. In two weeks we have been able to reduce my pain, and though it may be some months ahead while the meds get adjusted, I feel we are on a good start - finally! He is located in Burbank, CA - Dr.
