Avatar f tn Someone asked for suggestions on what to feed itchy dogs/dogs with allergies, though I couldn't find the original question. Anyways, I had suggested grain-free dog foods with limited ingredients, (as most allergic reactions come from food). I just came across another one, by **** Van Patten, "Natural Balance" "Limited Ingredients Diets" which is grain-free and (comes in a purple bag, Sweet Potato & Venison formula).
Avatar n tn There are many brands out there. Good ones will have NO gluten and NO grains (this includes rice and corn), a good protein source (meat, fish, eggs, tofu, or poultry), green leafy vegetables, sweet potato, berries and some other fruit, fish oil (containing DHA), vitamins, minerals, probiotics, and digestive enzymes. The good food does not have to every single ingredient that I have listed, but will contain many of the ingredients.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried any vitamins for anxiety or panic attacks? Such as Niacin, Valerian vitamin b3, b12 or anything? I was reading up on some things.
Avatar f tn I have used "Brewer's Yeast" mixed in with the dogs' food. For some reason, fleas can't tolerate it. Don't know if it effects ticks though. Interesting topic. I hope you get some good suggestions - I might just "borrow" them for my own dogs who take Sentinel for fleas, etc. Natural is better, I agree.
1462810 tn?1327360449 I was moved by the thought that it was the responsible thing to give the dogs vitamins. I take them myself, but then I have a notoriously bad diet! :/ A fact I'm in the process of changing. PetTabs had been around for a long time, I thought they were the safest way to go. And, in fact, everything was okay for years.
1531001 tn?1292034237 If you are able to share your dogs blood and urine results, I am glad to review and offer you specific natural therapies including a tasty home made diet, aluminum hydroxide to bind the excess phosphorus, B-Vitamins to boost red blood cell production, a specific protocol for daily home fluid therapy and other natural kidney nutrients to try to help return your dogs kidney function to a normal status.
Avatar m tn I have been giving this to my growing pup and I have seen an improvement in his health and coating. Its a natural food suplement for dogs and includes omega 3 fatty acids. You can find it at Kauffmans Animal Health and order it directly online. http://www.ka-hi.
Avatar n tn I have a 6 month old mixed breed dog that I take to the dog park daily. The park has cedar and bark pieces throughout, but some dirt underneath which the dogs love to roll around in. The no seeums seem to hang around the dirt and I'd like to find some kind of natural insect repellent. I recently found a product called The Bug Patch for myself which is deet free and 100% Thiamine B1 and seems to work. Is this also safe for dogs?
1729448 tn?1342094737 So my thoughts are, what kinds of fruits/vegetables have the biggest variety/most vitamins etc that are good for you? I figured I could try eating really good ones as much as possible. I love tomatoes, lemons, cucumbers, kiwi, strawberries, and bananas the most (they're what first comes to mind that I always crave). I recently had a salad at my friends house with kale and spinach and liked it also. I'm not big on meat either. I like it I just...I don't love it like I used to.
Avatar f tn They can be helpful for many things, but I strongly believe exercise should be a natural process, not one pushed by supplements. That becomes unhealthy too much of the time as you move to more and more unnatural supplements that can work but aren't good for you because you aren't satisfied with the slow results that natural processes produce.
Avatar m tn Dogs can go for a good amount of time without food but not water so good that she is drinking. I have never read a specific time but we have all heard stories of dogs going weeks without food. Of course, they end up in poor condition. I am sure a lot depends on the overall health of the dog to begin with. What have you tried feeding her? You might try some boiled chicken (no skin) and rice a few smaller meals given a day.
Avatar f tn ) or any of those types constipate me. I was hoping for a natural suggestion to talk with my doctor about. They are not very informed with natural treatments of things and said they would talk with another doctor and let me know what they want to try next. I figured since I am on here I might as well ask if you know of natural treatments for FM so that I have a list in case they don't!
Avatar n tn t know if this time will be better or worse, but it does get better, I promise, vitamins always help. One a days help restore your bodies natural rythym. You physically stop craving a lot faster than you psychologically do. Just keep pushing on.
9214378 tn?1408881584 Most websites are universal saying that egg whites are a good protein source for dogs with CKF. I have been giving Darbie the whites of a hard boiled egg, chopped and drizzled with raw (local) honey. I stir in some warm water for extra hydration. Now, I am confused with the Omega 6 factor...Am I on the right path?
Avatar f tn Can someone please provide me with a safety list of fruits/veggies for dogs. I keep getting hearing mixed information; about broccoli and almonds and more.
Avatar n tn Before the advent of commercial dog food, owners fed their dogs what ever they consumed, for example, dogs in Scotland ate oat porridge with a bit of lamb or fish, or rabbit, and with ever seasonal greens were available. This is true of all countries including Belgium. Whatever you end up feeding your dog, by sure to add a good vitamin/mineral supplement. Your dog can use a human vitamin supplement for his size.
Avatar f tn There are also a couple natural dog vitamins and herbal canine kidney supplements that have worked like a charm for dogs similar to yours. Please feel free to contact our veterinary office if you would like to discuss this further. Thank you Dr.
Avatar f tn Gypsy was diagnosed earlier this yr with kidney failure - urine not concentrating - but creatinine and BUN levels not too bad. Been on Azodyl for at least 8 weeks and we will be checking her levels via bloodwork later this iweek. I would like to know if supplementing with Omega 3 and B vitamins can help the situation. She currently takes a low dosage of Omega 3 for her skin and also takes Cetyl M daily for joint issues.
Avatar f tn t know for sure. They may have additives or sweeteners or something which are not good for dogs (Xylitol, for example is toxic for dogs) I don't know obviously, if the shakes have stuff like this in them. Hopefully someone else will post who knows. Again you could ask the vet about this. Have you tried tempting Cookie with a little boiled chicken? Or a little steamed fish? You are right you need to jump-start her appetite if possible.
1192727 tn?1282735542 I took Folic acid and even pre-natel vitamins for a while before I got pregnant to build up my vitamins. Also drinking water and making sure you are well hydrated helps.
1916673 tn?1420233270 t say this is right for all people or for all dogs, but it certainly seems to provide a good, healthy, balanced and varied diet for them.
Avatar n tn Incase the other food you were feeding had ANY grains: Read this.... Healthy dog foods do not include needless grains and other pet health damaging ingredients. Brewer's rice and brewer's dried yeast are by-products of beer production. There you go, your little pet gets what is left over after a beer run, the stuff not fit for human consumption. Poultry Fat - Used to encourge pets to eat a product the pet would normally not eat. NutriSource does not tell us what type of Poultry.
