29837 tn?1414534648 I've had sinus problems for years. Post nasal drip for one. I'm a professional singer and it's been tormenting me for years. Recently I went to an eye, ear, nose specialist who prescribed Nasonex. Anyone have any success with it? I say that because I tried it now for two days with no effect. Do I need to try it longer? Anyone?

Avatar f tn I got covid 5 weeks ago and recovered within 8 days but the post nasal drip is still lingering with minor one sided stuffy nose on and off. The post nasal drip seems like it drips less at times and more other times so it is also on and off but doesn't seem to go away. When there is a lot I would cough and sometimes it would coat my throat or get stuck there and I have to clear my throat constantly or try to hack it up by coughing. It is annoying and miserable.
Avatar f tn I have been suffering for four weeks now with post nasal congestion and post nasal drip. I first went to the doctors and was diagnosed with sinus infection and was given antibiotics for 5 days. It got better but gave me a UTI and stomach cramps then when antibiotics were done the congestion and drip was back with the UTI. I was then given 10 days of antibiotics for sinus infection and another antibiotic for UTI. The UTI got better but the congestion stayed.
Avatar f tn I definitely have post nasal drip and currently take nasonex. A ct scan oy sinuses revealed that I have a devisted septum. I sometimes wake up with a tight feeling in my chest. Could this be asthma maybe? Why would I get fluid in my right ear? Thanks for your attention to this matter.
Avatar f tn I went to my doctor when experiencing thick post nasal drip, dizziness, puffy eye and she diagnosed me with a sinus infection and put me on augmenten for 10 days. The mucus is now clear but the thick clear sticky post nasal drip is still chronic. I'm constantly snorting and spitting up mucus. I went to the ENT and he prescribed Nasonex and Mucinex. But it did not help. He then did a scope and found an abudnance of thick sticky mucus and he suctioned some of it out.
Avatar m tn I have had post nasal drip and severe sinus problems for many years now. I had an operation to remove a cyst and some polyp's about 5 years ago. This never stopped the post nasal drip, and i have since had ct scans done and it reveals that i once again have polyps. I seem to be getting different story's from every specialist i see, with the most recent one saying that the polyps wouldn't be causing you trouble and there is nothing he can do.
Avatar f tn ve had 10 episodes of acute bronchitis, often accompanied by sinus and/or ear infection. It usually starts with cold symptoms, post nasal drip, unproductive cough leading to wheezing, coughing until I vomit and a trip to the doctor's for antibiotics. The last few episodes progressed from scratchy throat to full blown ear/sinus infection and bronchitis in 3 days. The usual treatment plan is antibiotics, inhaler (with steroids), nasal spray (like Nasonex).
Avatar f tn Two days later, I was still coughing--post nasal drip. I had finished all the meds so I bought some more Mucinex and started that again. In another 2 days I was still had post nasal drep so I started Claritin. I have been taking the Mucinex and Claritin for a week now and still can't get rid of the post nasal drip. I sleep with a humidifier on and do the "steam breathing" about 1-2 times a day. I am worse in the morning and evening, but I still have the post nasal drip.
Avatar f tn Yes, the coughing could be part of allergic rhinitis. It could also be due to post nasal drip, possible GERD, infection, medication side effect and even from environmental irritants such as air pollutants. If it persists, have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Antihistamine, decongestants and prescription medications may help provide relief. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn This is because the openings of the maxillary sinuses are high up in the nose. On lying down the maxillary sinuses drain as a post nasal drip and the headache subsides. Most headaches worsen on walking, physical activity and exertion. 2. The sinuses have a vast surface area and hence with the slightest infection and inflammation the toxins are absorbed easily into the blood stream and cause the nausea, dizziness, weakness and fatigue. The post nasal drip can also causes acidity and reflux. 3.
Avatar n tn I have had the lump like feeling in my throat for almost 3 weeks, been on Nasonex spray for 2 weeks. Now on antibiotics for the last 6 days. Still have lump feeling in throat, tightness in neck and throat, occasional ear pain. Any thoughts? Had allergy testing done last year and no allergies. Dr said there was heavy post nasal drip. Wouldn't this be clearing by now? Also under a tremendous amount of stress with a sick parent and a daughter who is in remission.
Avatar m tn The beta-2 transferrin assay is the test of choice because of its high sensitivity and specificity. Also, nasal inspection by Nasal Endoscopy is mandatory. So, don't worry and discuss these options with your doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Myself, I started having sinus issue only recently about 2-3 years. I have post nasal drop 2-3x per week. Sometime mild and sometime very bad. I have all kind of allergy meds and snose spray Nasonex, which works good most of time. Last night, when my son cough so much. And I was so deperate; I gave him my Nasonex 1 buff in each nostril and he stop coughing in about 5 mins. It's mirracle to me.
Avatar f tn I have allergies and just figured out that I have postnasal drip, ear drainage issues, and stomach issues due to the mucus.. I wonder will Singular work with this ? The last time I tried taking antihistamines I felt drugged. I have been enjoying the better relief with a nasal steroid I have been using twice a day, is this safe for long term use? Thank you for your time !!!
Avatar f tn He is on Nasonex and Zyrtec to control post nasal drip and use Atravent as needed to help minimize cough. He has just come off 7 days of 30mg of Prednisone to treat severe coughing episode. I was told there isn't any other medication or treatment for him. Night time coughing is very bad for him. Even after coming off the prednisone and the breathing treatments don't help much. Is there nothing else that can be done.
548980 tn?1214822412 I have now though of course gone back to dealing with my rhinitis symptoms and post nasal drip seems to have come back two fold, leading to a constant feeling of a lump in my throat, worsening in the evenings and at bed time.
Avatar m tn And both my Sister-in-law and niece both suffer from allergies and post nasal drip. They are sneezing all the time. I guess I could have caught it from one of them. Now the problem is getting rid of it.

Avatar n tn Doctors have suggested, and I have tried, decongestants, Garasone, Nasonex, Neti pot, Advil Cold and Sinus. Nothing is working. The glands in my neck are sore and swollen. There does not seem to be much, if any, good news to be found on the resolution of this condition. Any suggestions??
Avatar n tn I have post nasal drip and also an upset stomach a lot of the time. When my stomach is sick, the only way to help it feel better is to eat. But then that doesn't last too long. Do you think my upset stomach is de to the dripping? What do you think is the best remedy for this? Thank you - This discussion is related to HELP!! Can Chronic Post Nasal Drip Cause Stomach Problems? Can allergy symptoms change?.
Avatar m tn I had post nasal drip for almost 3 weeks. My nose was not runny nor did I feel stuffed up, I now have a mild sore throat no more drip, but phlem and it's clear also the bumps on the back of my tongue appear to be raised on both sides but one side a little more than the other. Does this sound like a sinus infection?
Avatar f tn Does anyone suffer from chronic post nasal drip? If so, what have you found that helps? I have had it for yrs. Yrs ago before my surgery my PCP did a ct scan to check bc i had chronic sinus infections. Everything came back normal. My NS said my surgery may help my sinus problems. It hasnt. Zyrtec, benedryl, OTC sinus meds - nothing helps or relieves it. I vomit a lot and think the PND is the cause of some of it. Terrible gag reflex too.
Avatar f tn I know that not a lot of doctors recommend getting surgery to remove a mucus retention cyst, but I feel like it is contributing to the problem. I have more post nasal drip on my left side (I can actually see it dripping in the back of my throat), the lining on the inside of my left nostril seems to be more swollen than the right, and this is VERY strange, but I've been experiencing severe tingling on my left chest area.I have occasional headaches and I feel tired all the time.
Avatar m tn However, a couple of weeks ago, I have realised that I have been experiencing post nasal drip. I am not sure if it is caused by the dry mouth, or if the dry mouth is causing it. Regardless, if I don't swallow frequently, mucus builds up at the back of my throat. I cannot seem to spit it out, and I have to swallow it. Also, if I talk for too long, or go without drinking water for too long, my tongue dries up.
