Avatar n tn The pressure sensation could be due to sinusitis, nasal polyps, nasal congestion, internal ear problem or due to temporal arteritis. Take steam twice a day and see if the pressure is relieved. If it is then it could be due to sinusitis. Sometimes an Eustachian tube (tube connecting ear to throat) block can cause these pressure symptoms. Try valsalva maneuver (take a deep breath and blow while pinching your nostrils shut and closing your mouth). Hope these tips help.
Avatar f tn ve saw an ad for an ebook called nasal polyps treatment miracle - supposedly it claims to cure your polyps in a few days...has anyone tried it?
Avatar m tn Nasal polyps (NPs) represent a common clinical end point for a number of inflammatory disease processes involving the paranasal sinuses. Chronic rhinosinusitis is the most common cause for NPs, but not all NPs are created equally. The presence of a nasal polyp may offer the best clue as to what is happening in your nose and sinuses. Such polyps are often associated with the production of excessive mucous that leads to throat clearing.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking antibiotics, prednisone, nasonex, atrovent, asteline, and nasal wash before the sprays (I have never taken all three before, but I thought it may be worth a try). Also, I am going for another CT scan this week. I also take a boat load of vitamins daily. I walk three miles a day. I do not smoke or drink. I have also been avoiding dairy. If any one has any help to offer, it would be greatly appreciated!!!
Avatar f tn Ibuprofen is a leading cause of polyps in the sinuses. I have had two major surgeries to remove the polyps. Don't use nasal sprays. Salt water and little baking soda in an old nasal spray bottle. As much salt as can handle. Sinus rinse only when you can breathe freely through both nostrils.

Avatar m tn I have had post nasal drip and severe sinus problems for many years now. I had an operation to remove a cyst and some polyp's about 5 years ago. This never stopped the post nasal drip, and i have since had ct scans done and it reveals that i once again have polyps. I seem to be getting different story's from every specialist i see, with the most recent one saying that the polyps wouldn't be causing you trouble and there is nothing he can do.
Avatar n tn s been a bit ambigous saying i have an infection, x-rays showed fluid in my upper sinuses. She mentioned nasal polyps. I've been on antibotics twice, but neither time helped. neither has nasonex and she advised me against surgery...
Avatar n tn I had sinus surgery and got my sense of smell back after 6 years of not being able to smell. My dr recommended to use NASONEX for life. since that shrinks polyps. Start using that everyday twice a day along with Neilmed rinse.
Avatar n tn They are not a disease but the end product of the ongoing inflammation that may result from viral or bacterial infections or from allergies. So in a way they are just a chronic inflammation of the nasal lining. Why nasal polyps form is still not known. But they are most commonly thought to be caused by allergy. Rather than antibiotics, steroids(nasal and oral) are the main treatment of nasal polyps.Antibiotics are only for acute sinusitis.Surgery is done for polyps of large size.

Avatar f tn Hi, Omnaris (ciclesonide) is a steroid used in treating the inflammation, congestion, sneezing, itching, and runny or stuffy nose that occur due to sinus infections or nasal polyps. Nasal polyps are treated by inhalational or oral steroids or with surgery( open or endoscopic). Although inhalational steroids cause fewer side effects than oral steroids, long-term use can lead to nasal bleeding or perforation of the septum and an increased risk of glaucoma.
Avatar f tn A few months ago I started using Nasonex every day because of allergies. Shortly after my heart started acting up, I was getting short bursts of tachycardia lasting no more than 30 seconds, but disconcerting never the less. That hadn't happened to me for several years, since my medications were switched. My GP told me that Nasonex wouldn't do that but I stopped using it anyway. I had an appt with my EP today and I asked about it.
Avatar m tn The beta-2 transferrin assay is the test of choice because of its high sensitivity and specificity. Also, nasal inspection by Nasal Endoscopy is mandatory. So, don't worry and discuss these options with your doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Some medical professionals think that they are caused by chronic fungal or other infections, and polyps sometimes respond to treatment by Nasonex.
4856806 tn?1360095565 My 11 year old son has had nasal polyps on & off for last 3 years. He does not have any other respitory problems. They seem to be worse when he stays at peoples houses who smoke, what i would like to know is will that make his polyps worse or is it just a coincidence?
Avatar f tn I have chronic sinusitis and come down with a sinus infection now about every couple of weeks. I have had two sinus surgeries in the past. I just found out that I have nasal polyps. Does anyone know what causes them? And am I looking at more surgery?
Avatar m tn Does anyone know of a medication that can shrink nasal polyps without the use of corticosteroids?? I currently take flonase, but need to discontinue usage due to the fact that I'm trying to fight off an infection. Thanks for any info that can be provided !!
Avatar n tn He put me on Nasonex, a steroid nasal spray, to reduce the inflammation. I also hear my heartbeat in my ear at times, and he's hoping that a month on Nasonex will stop that. If not, he'll do a CT scan and other work to see what's going on. Here's my question: Are any of you using something like Nasonex or Flonase? I do have a headache behind my eyes and feel tired a lot, but I had that before too.
Avatar m tn Nasal polyps can usually be managed by the use of an inhaled nasal steroid. However, if the polyps are large and causing significant obstruction to nasal airflow, that would prevent contact of the steroid with the surface of the polyps, inhalation therapy alone may not suffice. In such circumstances, surgical removal may be necessary, followed by nasal steroid inhalation to prevent recurrence.
497572 tn?1209812815 Intranasal steroid sprays may reduce or retard the growth of small nasal polyps, but they are relatively ineffective in massive nasal polyposis. Antifungal agents have no role in the management of nasal polyposis, but these agents may be useful in cases of allergic fungal sinusitis with polyposis.
