Narcolepsy weight gain

Common Questions and Answers about Narcolepsy weight gain

narcolepsy

Avatar f tn Sounds like your nodding off was related to your hypo status since your better on thyroid meds. My doctor tells me all my levels are "perfect" but maybe the smallest amount of level change can create a big impact. From what I read on this forum, people are so sensitive to thyroid replacement. I have never really experienced any significant side effects from my surgery except the "narcolepsy" type symptom.
1287446 tn?1313947638 Hi everyone. I am not familiar with Narcolepsy or sleep disorders in general but my sleep has always been different. Typically, I fight daytime sleepiness with caffeine. In prior years, the caffeine has been a lot but I’ve lowered it significantly.
Avatar f tn Sleep related eating disorder occurs when a person arise during the night to eat, without being fully conscious or remembering anything, can also be seen with sleepwalking who tend to eat inappropriate foods that are raw, frozen or spoiled and often gain weight. About the research studies or the clinical trials on drugs - usually it is done on a large group of individuals and is done under medical supervision.
Avatar f tn All you need to do is drop weight. That is the basic problem. When you gain a lot of weight it puts a lot of pressure of your body. Thats why you are swelling up. Your body is too heavy. Your heart is under a lot of stress with all the extra weight so the only way for you to feel better is to lose weight. Thats all you gotta do.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with sleep apnea when I was 14. I always thought being dog tired even with using my cpap machine every night was normal. Now I have a two year old and I need to figure this out. I can sleep 12 hours and still feel like I have no energy, everything feels like it's in slow motion for the first four hours IM awake, if someone tries to wake me up I either won't hear them or I hear them but cannot force myself to wake up.
Avatar f tn I'm a 21 year old healthy girl. I eat right and exercise and have normal weight. This summer, all of a sudden, I've been nodding off a lot during the day, even after getting 8hrs of sleep. It happens when I'm sitting on the couch watching tv or on a chair when I use the computer. I start feeling tired and all of a sudden I start nodding off. It's affecting me because I fall into a very heavy sleep and my head is bobbing all over the place.
Avatar f tn When I was in highschool I was diagnosed with PCOS and Narcolepsy. I recently found my sleep studies and found that the doctor said my sleeping was characteristic of Narcolepsy but he didn't think I had it. I wonder now[ if it is the PCOS as noticed a big difference in energy levels after I stopped taking birth control. Is anyone else out there suffering from debilitating lack of energy. I find I can hardly get up in the morning let alone take care of my house, husband and child.
612876 tn?1355514495 I am grinning ear to ear. A giant weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I recently switched neurologist's offices and started over with a new team, hoping to find the answers to the parts of my illness that remained unexplained by the POTS/syncope/migraines diagnoses. In particular, the fact that sometimes I am completely paralyzed when I "come to" from a syncope.
407790 tn?1397761026 Thanks so much for answering. Yes, it is meant to help my ADs work better. I'm on Cymbalta (30 mg) and Wellbutrin (300 mg.) I also take Lamictal (200 mg) and Topamax (200 mg), the latter mostly to help me lose the weight I gained on Pristiq (I quit that a month ago and started taking Cymbalta instead.) I also take Adderall because I have narcolepsy. I know, quite a cocktail. I have been on just about every AD there is for the past 20 years.

Avatar f tn I am diagnosis with narcolepsy and have had symptoms for 5 years now. I have been taking 500 mg. of nuvigil for over 2 years. Plus, 60 mg of adderall a day. My symptoms have slowed down a little, but I have to take 2 naps a day and not drive anywhere. I have sleep studies twice a year and it seems to get worse each time. Its very aggravating to me! It seems like something would help. I see a team of specialists at Vanderbilt, but I need something else, but what? Anyone have any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I have Narcolepsy- My vitamin B 12 level is 235- should it be higher for my condition?
Avatar f tn Although the pt has RLS and PLMS, the arousal associated with these do not likely explain EDS- given a short overall sleep and REM latency, consider narcolepsy clinically. I had 156 arousals, 110 spontaneous, the rest due to limb movement. I also spent most of my sleep time in sleep stages 1 and 2, whith REM episodes scattered randomly. I had no time in stage 3, and when I had REM sleep it was from wake to REM with no progression through the other cycles.
Avatar n tn The combination of this study and my first MSLT nap study produced a perfect pattern for diagnosis of Narcolepsy. Has there ever been a study to look at the coorelation between the 2 diseases. Would many CFS sufferers be classified narcoleptic if they took the appropriate test? Narcolepsy leads back to hippothalmus and lack of production of hypocretin/orexin(?). Seems like all things lead to hippothalmus. Thank you!
Avatar n tn You gain the most weight in the last 8 weeks. So you might barely gain now, and then pack it on fast toward the end which is normal.
