Avatar f tn Sleep paralysis is associated with narcolepsy to some degree. I feel it can often be brought about by stress/panic. Try sleeping on your stomach instead, this may resolve your sleep paralysis completely. Personally, I didn't like the things I saw or felt, so I would wake myself up as fast as possible... God bless.
Avatar f tn I had these reoccuring dreams as a teenager and lasted many years they went away but now seem to be slowly coming back. I am sleeping and all of a sudden wake up I cant move and I feel like I am severly shaking. I here voices of people arund the house sometimes family memebers sometimes people are in the room tooo I can sense and hear them. I try yelling to get my family to help me up because at this point I am hurting all over my entire body. Nobody ever hears me screaming.
Avatar f tn I was reading up about it and this lead me to read about Narcolepsy as Cataplexy is a unique symptom to this condition. I read about the symptoms and I am now afraid that I may be suffering from it. I have very vivid and sometimes lucid dreams and I wake up almost every hour of the night for short spans of time. Sometimes I cannot tell my dreams from reality and I often hear noises and see things during the night that aren't really there.
Avatar f tn I do not sleep. I dream weird hellucinated dreams but Im still awake and con not fall alseep. I have to open my eyes to stop this and for do not fall asleep. I am crazy??????
Avatar f tn Such vivid dreams that when i woke i would experience. The most realistic hallucinations. Also on a fw occasions total paralysis, visions of a black cloud of some sort pinning me down an preventing me from calling out for help, sometimes lasting up to 5 minutes. I dont concentrate on the fear of the situation, rather more just trying to get up. Untill i started researching. Logical explanations, i didnt know what to believe.
Avatar f tn My doctor has not really told me very much about the narcolepsy...will it go away? I take Tysabri infusions once a month and I have told this medication would help heal my brain. It has only gotten worse. How do you deal with this disease?
1745492 tn?1320198340 I have symptoms that some people say are consistent with narcolepsy. However, all I have seen are people with severe narcolepsy, and I'm not as bad as them. I do have very vivid dreams that can be stressful to me. I can write whole books on my dreams because they are so vivid. They are so stressful sometimes that I wake up sweating. I can fall asleep quick. As in I can take an short nap, say an hour, and still dream. I do not sleep well at night and have very interrupted sleep.
Avatar m tn I was having similar type dreams when I first starting using a cpap machine for my sleep apnea. It was an issue with the machine settings and I was actually struggling to get enough air to survive at night. Fixed the problem and the dying dreams/OBE's went away.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you have narcolepsy. I myself have it and your story sounds very close to my experience with narcolepsy. It can get dangerous, for example, if you're driving (it's happened to me!). The vivid dreams is a symptom of narcolepsy. Do you ever feel like you're half awake but you can't open your eyes? What other symptoms are you having besides being unrested? I would definitely consult your physician or a sleep lab. Good luck.
1287446 tn?1313947638 Hi everyone. I am not familiar with Narcolepsy or sleep disorders in general but my sleep has always been different. Typically, I fight daytime sleepiness with caffeine. In prior years, the caffeine has been a lot but I’ve lowered it significantly.
Avatar f tn Sleep paralysis is a very common feature of narcolepsy. How old are you? I was convinced I had narcolepsy when I went but I ended up having periodic limb movement disorder. It's where you kick your legs and move your arms all night long. Every time I would get into REM, I would kick my legs or move my arms and it would jerk me out of it. That's what caused me to remember my dreams vividly. I would wake up mid REM cycle.
1704625 tn?1310708761 Well, according to what I have been reading from other posts and what you have written about narcolepsy, I should stop denying to myself that I have narcolepsy. I just wish that I could find some kind of magic cure! I have medication that my neurologist prescribed for me, which we had to change 3 different times and than adjust and re-adjust the dosage until we got it right. Right now I take dextroamphetamine in 10 mg doses up to 4 times a day.

Avatar f tn I'm a seventeen year old girl and about almost two months ago I started having really realistic dreams or "lucid dreams" as I found out. While in my dreams I have a lot of problems breathing and often feel like I'm suffocating. I also get weird random little shocks in my body at different parts of the day. And I wake up with my body feeling sore like I got ran into several brick walls.
Avatar f tn Wanting to know if anyone else experience these kind of dreams. Every once in awhile I'll have a dreams and in the dream I can feel, smell and sometimes taste things.
Avatar f tn A sleep disorder where the brain cannot properly regulate the sleep/wake cycles. Do you remember your dreams often? Have vivid dreams? Ever wake up with sleep paralysis? Had vivid dreams that you thought were real but then realized they weren't? Do you dream when you take a short nap, say no more than an hour long? Have you ever fallen for no reason? Found your knees weak from laughing? Those are symptoms of cataplexy. Which is also a symptom of Narcolepsy.
Avatar n tn Could be narcolepsy or another sleep disturbance - you should go to a sleep clinic like Dr. Jacobs said.
Avatar f tn I have also had problems with waking up screeming after a violent dream (which I almost always rememeber) for the past 10 years. I can recal my dreams almost everynight and often feel that they are real. I am ALWAYS tired, no matter how much sleep I get. I occasionally fall asleep in class and usually have an extremely hard time focusing. only times I don't feel tired are when I chug caffeine.
573569 tn?1278629655 Mine did start with sleep paralysis and then i felt like i was going into a coma and was fighting to wake up. Apparently they think i may nave narcolepsy, where when your sleeping your not gettiung the right kind of sleep so your brains sorta always tired and hence your lack of concious. Apparently it's more common to get it at night but mine goes on through the day too. Is your sleep continous? do you have vivid dreams?
Avatar f tn I always experience dreams where when I wake up and I believe they are happening. A few examples : 1. I wake up in the middle of the night after a dream where spiders are crawling everywhere on my floor. I can not see the Insects but I think that they are there and cannot do anything because I'm so terrified. 2. There were snakes on me so I threw the blankets off and waited at the end of the bed and only could return after I took a broom and moved my sheets. 3.
488264 tn?1226520307 I have sometimes wondered about narcolepsy, as I can fall asleep very rapidly on buses etc. Currently I take a lot of pain medication, and blame it on that, but the reality is I've always had a tendency to drop off to sleep if my environment becomes too unstimulating. I went through a stage of some years where the paralysis was rare, and now it has returned so severely I broke my silence and told the neurologist I was seeing.
739988 tn?1386672969 I have narcolepsy (along w/ many other diseases). Along with the narcolepsy comes severe insomnia. On top of that, my body adapts to sleeping medications rapidly. In addition, I am on the last ditch Rx sleeping med that my team of three drs can come up with (general practioner, sleep specialist, psychiatrist). The med is Rimeron and I've been on it less than a week....it will be useless soon.
Avatar n tn I mention that because of your sensation of being choked. When my apnea was undiagnosed I had dreams about choking, and unsettling realistic dreams about floating above my body. I am not one inclined to mystical interpretations of dreams. I believe mine were all prompted by actual physical sensations. At any rate, a consultation with a reputable neurologist or a sleep doctor may lead you to some answers.
4592241 tn?1359813138 and wants to put me on a narcolepsy medication. I am terrified that I will become addicted to these meds. This will compromise my sobriety, and feel like Im screwed. Is this cheating or what??? Also wondering if my history of drug use and meth use for 10 yrs in my 20's had caused this to happen. I did not tell the doctor about my addiction history because I was afraid he would think I was just being a poser. I need help to fix this sleepiness problem but dont want to jeporadize my sobriety.
Avatar f tn He is not able to tolerate the Narcolepsy medication. throat clossed, tongue swale, stomach blew up, stayed in toilet. Can some tell me what to claim and how to show the severity?
