535822 tn?1443976780 75% of all vaccinated and 67 total people had narcolepsy. Heck, as a mother of young kids--- a bit of narcolepsy might be nice.
Avatar n tn During my first visit with him it seemed as if he was questioning whether or not I really have narcolepsy. He then said that I have to be retested for narcolepsy before my next visit. Is it normal to be retested every few years or so?
Avatar f tn It sounds like he needs to get a sleep study done, especially an M.L.S.T study, this will test for Narcolepsy. Narcolepsy is when a person can be wide awake and talking one minute and then just fall asleep for no reason. Does he only do this at night while he is driving home?? Or does this happen during the day as well?? If it happens a couple times during the day then I would say he should be checked for Narcolepsy.
2018891 tn?1329003897 Hi everyone I was diagnosed in 2010 with Narcolepsy & Cataplexy. One thing that I've been wondering, does anyone here get a severe headache after a cataplexic episode/sleep attack? I was in the hospital for a week in october because I kept "passing out" although that's not what I called it. I would feel strange, fall over, and be completely limp for 30ish seconds. Then I would get up and sometimes have trouble walking and a few hours later I would get a MASSIVE headache.
807506 tn?1248649733 Can dopamine or steriod levels be tested for example. I have narcolepsy with cataplexy but I think there is somethin else wrong. I have been on experimental drugs as well as very hih doses of prednisone(as much as 100mg boosts as a child) and drugs like adrenaline, susphrine, theophilyn etc. I m concerned that its affected me. Ive read that prednisone has eliviated eds in narcolepsy, and I tke codeint to stay awake. Im thinking certain levels may have been affected. My Dr.
1704625 tn?1310708761 Which sent me into the second sleep study, all night and all day study, which came back extremely high for narcolepsy. It seems that I can fall asleep in less than 7 minutes, I begin dreaming quickly and much more frequent than normal in extended intervals. I believe that I have been asleep when I was really awake and awake when I was really asleep. However, unlike, the 15 minute naps being completley refreshing, they are not always.
Avatar f tn I have Narcolepsy- My vitamin B 12 level is 235- should it be higher for my condition?
Avatar f tn I am diagnosis with narcolepsy and have had symptoms for 5 years now. I have been taking 500 mg. of nuvigil for over 2 years. Plus, 60 mg of adderall a day. My symptoms have slowed down a little, but I have to take 2 naps a day and not drive anywhere. I have sleep studies twice a year and it seems to get worse each time. Its very aggravating to me! It seems like something would help. I see a team of specialists at Vanderbilt, but I need something else, but what? Anyone have any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I have a month until I see my neuro- but does this sound like narcolepsy?? My need for sleep has taken over my life, and it *****. I am determined to overcome this!
1287446 tn?1313947638 Hi everyone. I am not familiar with Narcolepsy or sleep disorders in general but my sleep has always been different. Typically, I fight daytime sleepiness with caffeine. In prior years, the caffeine has been a lot but I’ve lowered it significantly.
Avatar n tn The combination of this study and my first MSLT nap study produced a perfect pattern for diagnosis of Narcolepsy. Has there ever been a study to look at the coorelation between the 2 diseases. Would many CFS sufferers be classified narcoleptic if they took the appropriate test? Narcolepsy leads back to hippothalmus and lack of production of hypocretin/orexin(?). Seems like all things lead to hippothalmus. Thank you!
Avatar f tn i was wondering if i should be tested for narcolepsy, or if diagnosed with narcolepsy would they prescribe me to something similar to adderrall? if this were the case, being tested would not matter much if they would give me the same medications anyways. I just dont want to be misdiagnosed and on the wrong medication for the rest of my life.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone and thanks for your time! I have been unwell for years but it has been getting worse in the past 3 years. My main complaint is overwhelming fatigue but I also have: *Right temple and eye pain. *electrical shock pain to right scalp *Word finding problems and confusion *sensitivity to noise and ringing ears. *Numness and bug bite sensations to extremeties. *weakness in upper arm and legs.
2164295 tn?1337019528 He takes Ritalin for the narcolepsy and clomipramine (generic for Anafranil) for the cataplexy. The Ritalin helps, but he can only take 3 pills a day (insurance won't approve more), and he really needs at least 2 more a day to stay awake and function. He has bad nightmares and yells out in his sleep when he does not have the clomipramine.
Avatar f tn Have you consulted the sleep specialist to get the sleep study? Hope you have got lot of information on the narcolepsy. Thanks to mastkids for having shared his experience and valuable thoughts. Hope you too are able to get adequate sleep and following up with your doctor. Here are few aspects of the treatment and hope you follow few tips. Ref: http://www.emedicinehealth.com/narcolepsy/page4_em.htm Share your thoughts and keep updating. Take care.
Avatar n tn m wondering is even if you are not diagnosed with narcolepsy, if you could be treated in a similar way with the same medications they use for someone like my sister in law. Worth asking!
Avatar m tn Yes, narcolepsy can result in disturbed nighttime sleep. Narcolepsy can only be diagnosed with a multiple sleep latency test during the day (usually preceded by an all night sleep study). Dr.
Avatar m tn The two main things looked for to diagnose narcolepsy on polysomnography are very short onset of sleep (typically under 10 minutes) and excessively early onset of REM sleep. The sleep architecture may also vary in the total amount of REM sleep (excessive in narcolepsy).
Avatar f tn I thought Narcolepsy was uncontrolable constent falling asleep? I can sleep at amytime for brief periods but when I am sleepy I can usually control forced staying awake. Is it possible to have narcolepsy without that symptom. Or am I under a misconception about that? Thankyou very much for your time and concern!
Avatar m tn I had three regular sleep studies with nap studies, and it wasn't until the third one that it was revealed I had narcolepsy. You never know what could happen! I hope for your sake you don't have narcolepsy, but sleep specialists are taught to order multiple sleep studies if they suspect narcolepsy in a patient. Your doctor sounds like she is really looking out for you. Let me know how things go.
Avatar f tn It takes a normal person about 90 minutes for them to reach the REM stage of sleep, but narcolepsy can be found if someone falls into the REM stage almost as soon as they fall asleep (like for me, it took me only 6 minutes to reach REM!) This is how they find out if you have narcolepsy or not. It's really a terrible thing to be diagnosed with this, since there really is no cure for it, so I really hope you find out it is something else that can be easily treated instead of narcolepsy!
