I am 26 wks pregnant and one of the guidelines in Ireland is that all pregnant women get the flu vaccine. My fear is that now the flu vaccine has a strain for the so called swine flu(which i have always had doubts about!) Especially now with all the questions around the disorder narcolepsy that has now affected a precentage of kids in ireland that had the vaccine back in 2009. Anyhow could anyne give me some advice.

I am B12 deficient and showing symptoms of neurological problems (tingling, numbness, dizziness) and have an appt. to see a neurologist in a couple weeks. I was supposed to get a flu vaccine today at work. I am wondering if it's still safe if I could possible have a neurological issue from the B12 deficiency. Does anyone know?

The first time Bell's presented itself for me was when I was pregnant and got the flu shot because I was in that "high risk" group. It was the first time I had ever received the flu vaccine in my life. I had full facial paralysis with hearing loss within 24 hours of the shot and it lasted 2 months. has anyone heard what vaccination is reportedly linked to narcolepsy? i saw a show yesterday about narcolepsy and they mentioned a vaccination was given to a 13 year old girl and 2 hours later she was experiencing cataplexly (a paralyzing catatonic state that is a symptom of narcolepsy) but they did not say which vaccination.

Are you planning on getting the Swine Flu vaccine (when it finally gets here)? Better yet, why or why not?

I am now 39 weeks pregnant and after much hesitation, on Friday last week I decided to have the flu jab, since my GP and midwife etc. had reiterated the importance of this in pregnant women. I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and just found out I have the flu. My OB put me on Tamiflu but my primary said she wasn't sure about it. Has anyone been on this while pregnant? I'm worried it's going to hurt the baby. Also it did get the flu vaccine, I was only a couple weeks pregnant so I didn't know but I'm a little mad they push a vaccine that obviously doesn't work.

Definitely call one of them and they can do a rapid flu test....yes you can still get the flu,even after getting the vaccine...keep hydrated and keep any fever down....but call ME!! Good luck!!

I just wanted to post that seven years ago, at the age of 48, I got my first flu shot. 10days later I developed Bells Palsy. I am not asking, I KNOW that this came from the flu shot. Period. Why is it taking so long for you doctors to figure this out?

I already got the Swine Flu Vaccine. My doctor told me that i needed to get it because the risk of getting Swine Flu was higher than the risk of the shot. So many pregnant women have died from the Swine FLu so i got scared and preferred being protected. Hope this helps you make your decision!

He pressured me more into getting the flu vaccine now since its already flu season and then he told me to think about the Tdap vaccine.

Just for those who may not know, the H1N1 vaccine is included in the seasonal flu vaccine this year. Last year, I got both shots and had no problems w/the H1N1 vax. I just wanted to let you know that in case you might be wondering about the H1N1 part. In fact, I really didn't hear of any ill effects in the news from anybody taking the H1N1 shot.

Flu shots have never bothered me, but I had a terrible reaction to the pneumonia vaccine - high fever, chills, swollen/painful arm, no appetite....

Funny thing is that last year, I was the only one in my family to get a flu vaccine and I was the ONLY ONE TO GET THE FLU!!! Very unpleasant nasal swab for the diagnosis, I might add. I would NOT have bothered to get my flu diagnosed/treated except that my husband was having surgery in another state in less than 2 weeks from when I came down with the flu and I didn't want him to get sick. That Tamiflu is unbelievable.

i got my seasonal flu shot in october and the swine flu vaccine a week ago although i am sick now with a cold i will not get the flu

Not the h1n1 vaccine as it is not available yet, but I asked and it will be the killed vaccination as the flu vaccine I received. I have not had any adverse reaction other than soreness at the injection site that lasted about a day, maybe less. Has anyone else gotten their flu shot already???

I asked my OB office yesterday if I should have the multi dose vaccine or the preservative free vaccine. They said either was fine. I had the multi dose today at work. Now, that I have read some articles online. I'm worried I may have done something that can hurt my baby. Any advice or knowledge to offer.

The only thing I can think for this is about 4 weeks ago I got the flu vaccine for the 1st time. In the last week or so the weather has got a lot colder and I possibly might have got the flu. I'm wondering if the vaccine helping my immune system fighting the flu is the contributing factor to my recent fluctuations.
