Avatar f tn I have to do a sleep study next month to see if I have narcolepsy..... that is actually what introduced me to this site, I am doing a sleep journal. I did not realize until last night how many dang times I wake up at night. My doctor mentioned Ritalin. I am so worried about taking meds, I am so close to getting my 8 year old off Ritalin by going organic. I am also finding it oh so hard to keep up with 2 boys that are very high in energy.
Avatar f tn ve already been diagnosed with Thyroid Hoshimotos, and on top of that Narcolepsy, the most commonly associated symptom of Narcolepsy is excessive daytime sleepiness, which probably why you been dx with Chronic Fatigue as well, the constant level of fatigue could genuinely account for the cognitive issues you've been experiencing.
589816 tn?1332976771 Does he have narcolepsy with cataplexy? Or is it without cataplexy? Xyrem is a drug approved for treating narcolepsy with cataplexy, and it's taken at night in two separate doses. It combats one of the most important symptom of narcolepsy, aside from cataplexy: fragmented night-time sleep. Just to give a bit more background in case I'm catching you off-base.....

4489852 tn?1375753951 This is not a question, but I wanted to post my blog on here for other people to read if they wanted to. I had a hard time finding a chiari blog that was kept up to date and was current, so I wanted to start one not only so that i could have record of everything, but also so that other people could read my story and see that they are not alone in this fight. This is the blog I started in April.

Avatar f tn I am about to give you some great advice here...Medhelp has a new site called "Ask a doctor LIVE" and i am going to encourage you to post your question there because you two can basically communicate back and forth live during the session....you will be able to have them decipher your results, give you recommendations on what they feel would work best in flipping some of this around for you and basically just reassure you.....
Avatar m tn Hence the transition from the website to the blog. The members that frequent the support site are great and very supportive. I understand the bonds that are formed during treatment with friends met online, I don't want anyone to think their friends are not still available. Thats how I met Janis so many years ago. Link To Forum http://******.************.
1704625 tn?1310708761 I too just signed up to this site in hopes of finding ways to help my 9year old son manage narcolepsy/cataplexy. I'm finding diet, sleep schedule and exercise are key to getting thru day happily. SUGAR and CHOCOLATE never help. I'm curious to know if either of you received flumists prior to onset symptoms?
1340994 tn?1374193977 com I just ordered a worming cleanse from that site. But I found it in the comments of a girls blog who was suffering badly with candida. http://myjourneywithcandida.blogspot.com/2010/02/candida-diet.html That was a mind bending read! The actual blog is the diet she did, but in her comments in the lower region of the webpage she explains the diet did nothing for her.. the cleanses did! I had no idea that parasites could cause hives and allergic reactions. Thats what brought me to this site.
1287446 tn?1313947638 Hi everyone. I am not familiar with Narcolepsy or sleep disorders in general but my sleep has always been different. Typically, I fight daytime sleepiness with caffeine. In prior years, the caffeine has been a lot but I’ve lowered it significantly.
Avatar f tn I have Narcolepsy- My vitamin B 12 level is 235- should it be higher for my condition?
Avatar f tn Although the pt has RLS and PLMS, the arousal associated with these do not likely explain EDS- given a short overall sleep and REM latency, consider narcolepsy clinically. I had 156 arousals, 110 spontaneous, the rest due to limb movement. I also spent most of my sleep time in sleep stages 1 and 2, whith REM episodes scattered randomly. I had no time in stage 3, and when I had REM sleep it was from wake to REM with no progression through the other cycles.
Avatar n tn The combination of this study and my first MSLT nap study produced a perfect pattern for diagnosis of Narcolepsy. Has there ever been a study to look at the coorelation between the 2 diseases. Would many CFS sufferers be classified narcoleptic if they took the appropriate test? Narcolepsy leads back to hippothalmus and lack of production of hypocretin/orexin(?). Seems like all things lead to hippothalmus. Thank you!
Avatar f tn Do you think you have narcolepsy? I wonder where your doctor got this idea. Narcolepsy is really interesting but can be dangerous. I have an uncle who has narcolepsy. He has had episodes that were kind of funny at the time, but when you think about it, it can get you hurt. How is the Provigil working for you? My neuro is willing to start me on it too to see if it helps with the fatigue. Fatigue is so challenging. It affects everything.
Avatar f tn i was wondering if i should be tested for narcolepsy, or if diagnosed with narcolepsy would they prescribe me to something similar to adderrall? if this were the case, being tested would not matter much if they would give me the same medications anyways. I just dont want to be misdiagnosed and on the wrong medication for the rest of my life.
