If a person is a chronic drinker they will have elevated detoxification enzyme (CYP450 2E) and this enzyme is the responsible party for creating reactive metabolites in tylenol overdoses.

Avatar f tn Which I do know is a sulphamide and I am allergic to sulpha drugs, but in turn, the side effects to Celebrex also mentioned if a rash develops it could be related to liver disease...I was only on the Celebrex for 2 days, so I am still in the dark about the rash. Often at times, I am waking up in the night because of the pain.

So, below the waistline is def not a "painful liver". I'm probably reading your post wrong though. Just wanted to clarify.

Avatar n tn Arthrotec is a NSAID, similar to ibuprofen or naproxen. Acetaminophen is not an NSAID. All medications come with side effects and our bodies respond differently to different medications. There are more effective pain reducers than acetaminophen, even in it's drug class. I won't bore you with repeating the suggestion to seek medical attention asap. You seem like an intelligent person and know what you are doing is dangerous. It's like playing Russian Roulette.

Avatar m tn I also have a problem with temperature fluctuations in my lower leg (especially foot and usually only when seated) and have a feeling of tightness/discomfort in my hip area on that side, too, but that didn't show up until later. Makes me wonder if the culprit could be compression of the sciatic nerve.

Avatar n tn When I came home I read up the side effects and I seem to have all of them. My Doc said to try them again and within a week all the nastiness came back. Have now stopped again and feel so much better. I was blaming the methotrexate for feeling ill but I now know it wasn't, don't know what the long term effect will be re the naproxen. Is their an alternative to omeprazole ?

Avatar f tn I agree with rexx. Having cirrhosis and asking laymen for medical advice as to what drugs you should take in my opinion is a poor idea. Only a liver specialist can determine what drugs are safe for someone with cirrhosis. Especially now that you have gotten rid of the cause of your liver disease and don't want to add any further damage.

(tylenol substance is the 325 part). But I take one --- 1/4 every 4 hours - or a full one - once a day AS NEEDED. The problem is your liver --- and it filters everything that goes into your blood. It removes the toxins in your body. But EVERYONE is different. So depending on your biopsy - and your level of damage - discuss it with your doctor.

I think this is your problem. Stop taking the Naproxen and you will make your liver alot happier!

I feel like I drank two cups of coffee!
