I was on Suboxone for two years, off for 3 months with opiates, and now on again for a month. The itching started small after a few weeks on Sub But now I scratch everywhere there is hair and just below my knees , my back arms, and high on my butt.
Avatar n tn true what cattalina says...the naloxone in suboxone has some side effects with number one being headaches....try subutex..make a plan...what was ur DOC and how much daily did u take? too much of these drugs/sub or subutes carry lots of side effects..and doctors seem to oer prescribe sub..too much causes drowsiness, fogginess etc..
558096 tn?1255887002 it is used for some types of depression.....it has really no side effects/some but rare/if used on a long term basis...ofcourse it has alot if taken right after narcotic use...but on its own very lttle and has actually been shown to improve mood we use it in the hospital to reverse drug induced respiratory depression...and it works..the person wakes up quick after IV administration...
Avatar f tn Have you taken Suboxone before and had problems? Any side effects listed would mostly be attributed to the buprenorphine, not the naloxone. Suboxone is actually very well tolerated by most people. The people who run into side effects usually are overmedicated, given too high a dose. Some more info would be helpful.
Avatar n tn i can't take suboxone, i had terrible terrible side effects from the suboxone, and I wanted to try the subutex. but I'm having a really hard time trying to find a doctor in KY that prescribes subutex. I know there are, but I don't know which ones do, or what to do etc. If anyone has any information that would help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Avatar f tn Naloxone is a drug used to counter the effects of opioid overdose, for example heroin or morphine overdose. Naloxone is specifically used to counteract life-threatening depression of the central nervous system and respiratory system. It is marketed under various trademarks including Narcan, Nalone, and Narcanti, and has sometimes been mistakenly called "naltrexate.
3093770 tn?1389739126 s why it can help some of the leftover side effects from treatment. Treatment of neurotoxic side effects of interferon-alpha with naltrexone. Valentine AD, Meyers CA, Talpaz M. Department of Neuro-Oncology, University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, USA. Interferon-alpha (IFN-alpha) has potential dose-limiting neurotoxic side effects when used in cancer therapy. The nature of this neurotoxicity is speculative, and there is no definitive treatment.
Avatar f tn I am not an alcoholic and not even a big drinker. However, I do enjoy a glass of wine with dinner every now and then (once every 2-3 months, if that). Anyway, I'm having a BBQ next weekend and I wouldn't mind having a beer.
Avatar m tn So from personal experience, I believe that the naloxone in suboxone does have side effects and you may feel better on straight subutex. This of course should only be used by those who won't abuse subutex (which I didn't even know was possible and kind of defeats the purpose but can see how some people may try to abuse it). None the less, I have been opiate free (aside from subutex) for a year and a half and it's saved my life.
Avatar f tn As far as its strength as an analgesic it is pretty just a little weaker than hydrocodone and has side effects that act more like morphine, such as hallucinations or psychotomimetic effects on the body. It says that .38 mgs of talwin is equivalent to 10 mgs of morphine, so as far as your question goes that right there tells you how strong it is.
Avatar f tn Buprenorphine has such a high affinity to the opioid receptors that the opioid receptor antagonists (e.g. naloxone) only partially reverse its effects. This means that an overdose of buprenorphine cannot be easily reversed. Naloxone is opioid receptor blocker (antagonist). They are combined together to prevent inter-venous abuse of this medication. In the US, Suboxone has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of opiate drug addiction.
Avatar m tn i am allergic to naloxone (the opiate blocker in suboxone). i dont wanna get on methadone cuz the addiction gets serious. is there any thing like suboxone with the naloxone in it?
Avatar f tn It is getting better but pain is insane! I thing it is the naloxone, as if you read the leaflet of side effects, it is discussing, for suboxone, yet subtext, rarely any! He said they dont have subutex in canada, just suboxone, and i cant find the truth to is! I wish i would have just kept trucking, cause now husband.... are like when r u getting off....... THEY JUST DONT UNDERSTAND! I was never like this prior to beginning done in first place!
Avatar m tn The contents of the pill is two fold. Buprenorphine is in a class of medications called opioid partial agonist-antagonists, and naloxone is in a class of medications called opioid antagonists. Buprenorphine alone and the combination of buprenorphine and naloxone prevent withdrawal symptoms when someone stops taking opioid drugs by producing similar effects to these drugs. You put it under your tounge. Junkies die from attempting to inject this drug.
Avatar n tn I am not sure if it is withdrawal because it really only starts AFTER I take the suboxone. I didn't have these side effects from the subutex. I emailed and left my doc a message so I hope he calls me tomorrow with some advice.
558096 tn?1255887002 naloxone, unfortunately for suboxone wd pr amy opiate/opioid wd will not aid in easing the pain or physical aspect, it will help a littloe with the cravings for opiates..the biggest advantage with naloxone is that it will block any opiate/opioid no matter what the potency from having any effects for quite a long time especially if you take it for a while. congrats on day 9, what doose of suboxone were you last on? and for how long total were you on sub?
Avatar m tn s just about given him his life back. My question is it a narcotic, therefore addictive. Does it have the nasty side effects of oxy or other pain meds. This site has been a great resource and hope someone can tell me what this stuff is like? Appreciate any info you can give me about this med, thanks in advance!!
Avatar f tn When SUBOXONE is placed under the tongue, as directed, very little naloxone reaches the bloodstream, so what the patient feels are the effects of the buprenorphine. However, if naloxone is injected, it can cause a person dependent on a full opioid agonist to quickly go into withdrawal." they may try it once...but they wont ever do it again...they will get nothing but severely sick...and the naloxone over rides ANY euphoric effect they think they may be getting...
733251 tn?1231698321 t help you find a doctor, but I can explain the Suboxone/Subutex question you asked. The naloxone in Suboxone is placed there only to discourage people from using it via the IV route. When you let a Suboxone tablet dissolve in your mouth, you're getting a dose of Bupe and a dose of naloxone. The Bupe is absorbed into your system but the naloxone is not. And, since it doesn't get into the blood stream very well through the stomach, it really has little to no effect unless you inject it.
897400 tn?1303329148 It's going to be too much to post every day on both forums I am in. Please feel free to check it out if u r interested.
Avatar f tn You, or your body rather is having a severe bad reaction to the drug subutex. All the side effects you mentions and the drugs bad reaction side affects and especially the pain you mentioned in your head\face are severe side affects that say if you have them to contact a doctor immediately. It scares me for you because something really bad could happen to you if you continue this particular drug. You can't, it could be fatal. Is there any way you could go back to the suboxone?
