Mycophenolate drug cost

Common Questions and Answers about Mycophenolate drug cost

cellcept

Avatar f tn The cost of post-transplant drugs depends on your health insurance coverage and if the meds are on their formulary. You can call your insurance company and they can give you the exact prices now. Keep in mind formularies can change usually during end of year and beginning on year. So what is covered now may not be covered next year. Also many post-transplant drugs have generic versions. Liver transplant centers usually have their own preferences for drugs and generic or not.
Avatar m tn I am being successfully treated for a rare autoimmune condition with 15 mg prednisone and 1 gr mycophenolate daily. Although mycophenolate use involves a risk of opportunistic HSV infections, I was not warned about this. I recently had sex WITH A CONDOM with a partner whose status for HSV infection is unknown. Within about a day, I had developed numerous lesions. These spread rapidly and my doctor said they had an appearance consistent with HSV.
778275 tn?1326913623 I can sort of answer your first question. Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) or Cellcept has been extensively researched for its use in myasthenia gravis. Also, it carries a FDA black box warning that it may increase your chances of infection, lymphoma and congenital malformations (for pregnant women). Also, its optimal dose is yet undecided. Pyridostigmine (Mestinon) is the usual first line treatment for MG.
Avatar f tn I have Auto immune hepatitis aswell and primary biliary cirrosis. I was on Azathioprine for two years but when my blood counts went up and I was to take 50mg morning and night, my body did not react well to the drug, so was put on Mercaptopurine. This was devestating and I started to go to liver failure. I am not on Cellcept which is Mycophenolate Mofetil 1g morning and 1g night. This is a fantastic immunposuppressant.
Avatar n tn umm in the usa without insurance, n im chronic.
Avatar m tn An exclusive patent allows the company to recoup the cost of developing that particular drug. Which drug manufacturers say costs generally upwards of $800 million. After the patent on a drug expires, any pharmaceutical company can manufacture and sell it; only manufacturing cost will be incurred, which is a small fraction of the cost of original testing and development the drug. In the U.S.
1218873 tn?1300091216 If you have no drug coverage Lyrica will cost you about $350.00/mn. That for 3 tabs of 100mg/day ouch! Our FDA (food and drug association) is why. I have gotten my meds through Canada and they are so much cheaper. With the laws in place now here in the good ol' US of A it is being considered a narcotic. So you can't get Lyrica through the mail just like pain meds. The meds I got through Canada funny (well not real funny) most came from England or India.
Avatar f tn Prednisone. Doctors usually recommend an initial high dose of the corticosteroid drug prednisone for people with autoimmune hepatitis. The medication is reduced to the lowest possible dose that controls the disease over a few weeks. Most people need to continue taking the prednisone for at least 18 to 24 months, and some people remain on it for life. Although you may experience remission a few years after starting treatment, the disease often returns if the drug is discontinued.
Avatar m tn what is the cost of a yearly tenofovir treatment? Where can i order online with an affordable cost?
572651 tn?1530999357 m afraid of is the reimbursement process itself helps create this type of increase. The cost of subsidizing cost so the drug is available to as many people as possible has to be recaptured somehow. Don't hear me wrong here!!! I haven't noticed any pharmaceutical companies declaring bankruptcy. I'm sure they are raking in plenty of USDs, AUDs, CADs, NZDs, GBPs, EURs, etc., etc.
Avatar f tn I was on rib and Pegasys and my cost was around 50,000 for these 2 drugs for 24 weeks. I had a prescription drug Insurance since I am over 65 . I have to carry prescription drug coverage or else we are fined where we live . I have Medicare and a supplement to Medicare for Dr.'s . and Hospitals. My drug coverage is 34.00 a month with a 325.00 deductible. With max out pocket of 5500.00 per year. but with out this drug coverage it would have run around 50,000.
572651 tn?1530999357 As we put the final touches on this research project, I continue to find snippets of information that make me gasp - here's a link to the latest one ---- this group analyzed the cost of MS care and DMD drug costs. We have heard the numbers before, but to see it in print is mind-boggling. http://tinyurl.
Avatar m tn I'm sure the cost varies from one area to another, but we would have no way of knowing what the cost of this or any other medication would be for people in different locations. You would need to check the price with whoever would be dispensing that medication to you (pharmacist? clinic? doctor). Best wishes...
Avatar f tn Sorry. Didn't see you'd reposted! I'm on a drug study. The investigational drug and all hospital tests and visits are covered and travel costs are reimbursed.
333672 tn?1273792789 Well, I finally got my Ampyra after being stuck in some netherworld where the drug company and the insurance company don't speak the same language (one nice thing about the trial drug is that it involved no insurance companies and no telephone trees). I will say that the Acorda (the drug company) supervisor really went out of her way to help me. Apparently, Acorda has both a co-pay assistance program and a patient assistance program for the uninsured and underinsured.
Avatar m tn hello again, thanks to all the people that responded. was wondering about the cost of meds. interferon and ribavirin, im checking with my ins. to see what they will cover. i may have misspoke about this thing on hepititusccure.net i dont think it is herbal? it deals with fatty liver tissue. but its only 50 bucks to read about it so i dont really have anything to lose. going back to doc in 3 mo. not sure why till i decide on tx. if tx takes care of virus, do people go back to normal lifestyle?
422425 tn?1307992990 Billydude and cudagirl: I did some research, and "grade" does play into diagnostics of T-cells and auto-immune related conditions. It appears from what I read to be used most often with cancers and HIV but can be used with any auto-immune condition. What I could not find was a chart of what was a bad or good level. Without that kind of comparison, it's like not knowing anything at all. Billydude: You said that you take Cellcept/Mycophenolate for Sjogren’s?
1831849 tn?1383228392 MS Specialists were sending people to compounding pharmacies for a long time before Ampyra came on the market for a drug just like Ampyra, but it had to be compounded it cost $40 a month period. Ampyra made it into a pill and started charging outrageous prices. In this case a drug started as generic and was then patented. Is that not genius of them to come up with $40 a month copay. They are still making a big profit. I love to go to the free Ampyra talks and bring this up.
Avatar m tn hi is it coincidence that since my drug make has changed from efexor to viepax that my depression and my mums depression has been spiraling down hill since febuary when the drug make changed?
Avatar n tn google suboxone to find one in your area and call to see what it cost. the initial cost can be expensive. sub is a mitey [pwerful drug to use to beat an 80mg day habit. look in the health pages bottom right of this page to read the stpries of our members that have used sub. there are pros and cons for it. i wiah you the best on your journey to recovery.
Avatar f tn Iam only on the suboxone, but i want to get off of it, it has changed my life for the better, in every way, except the cost. Iam spending $800 dollars a month on it, but i cannot afford that any longer, i really cannot now, at all. I was on effexor and abilify before, and did quite well, but it did not work near as well as the suboxone, but it seems to be my only option left is to go back on it. I just wondered why i got so sick when i took it with the suboxone, any ideas.
Avatar n tn That means this won’t be the last time medical innovation lays bare the shortcomings of a system that promises unfettered access to innovation at minimal cost. Unfortunately, at least for now, Congress seems more interested in playing drug price Whack-a-Mole than addressing crucial questions about what we are willing to pay for, and why.
