Avatar m tn I am being successfully treated for a rare autoimmune condition with 15 mg prednisone and 1 gr mycophenolate daily. Although mycophenolate use involves a risk of opportunistic HSV infections, I was not warned about this. I recently had sex WITH A CONDOM with a partner whose status for HSV infection is unknown. Within about a day, I had developed numerous lesions. These spread rapidly and my doctor said they had an appearance consistent with HSV.
522377 tn?1212148288 If you really do have autoimmune hepatitis and hepatitis c virus then your treatment approach is very different form someone with only hepatitis c. Do not listed to any advice here other than advice to be sure and get good medical advice. The last poster is flat out wrong when he suggests that you start treating and see what happens.
Avatar n tn With both diseases treatment for hep c with the standard drugs often worsens the autoimmune hepatitis. The autoimmune hepatitis is the result an immune response and interferon stimulates the immune system. And if you treat the autoimmune hepatitis then the immune suppressive drugs may worsen HCV. This makes it very difficult to treat or maybe "manage" would be a better word.
Avatar f tn I am not on Cellcept which is Mycophenolate Mofetil 1g morning and 1g night. This is a fantastic immunposuppressant. Basically what I am telling you is that at any time your body cannot any longer tolerate one drug, there is always another waiting. The one I am on now is more 'pure' in other words there are less chemicals in in to effect the liver. It might be worth a mention if you are uncertain but many people are able to tolerate your medication for many years.
Avatar m tn The standard therapy options include intravenous immunoglobulin and plasmapharesis, corticosteroids, azathioprine, cyclophosphamide, etanercept, mycophenolate mofetil, interferon alpha 2a and tacrolimus. Current ones are interferon beta 1a, rituximab, and high dose cyclophosphamide. Your neurologist needs to apprise you of the long-term side effects since prolonged therapy are required. Botox shots are not known to be used in therapy.
1000632 tn?1293141653 I finished my treatment at 2014 and feel terrible. I am sure I have autoimmune disease or diseases and I need treatment otherwise I am done! Pain, needles all over my body, sand in my eyes, tired, Hashimoto's, stomach , mood, and...... Doctors doing nothing about it. I have AMA, ANA positive but still they cannot find the reason I feel so bad. The Reumatologist said I have fibro! I don't think so !
422425 tn?1307992990 Billydude and cudagirl: I did some research, and "grade" does play into diagnostics of T-cells and auto-immune related conditions. It appears from what I read to be used most often with cancers and HIV but can be used with any auto-immune condition. What I could not find was a chart of what was a bad or good level. Without that kind of comparison, it's like not knowing anything at all. Billydude: You said that you take Cellcept/Mycophenolate for Sjogren’s?
Avatar f tn Autoimmune Hepatitis causes an elevated IgG. I found the following information on line: Autoimmune Hepatitis: Diagnosis Indications for Testing Persistently elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT) or aspartate aminotransferase (AST) 5x normal in the absence of any other cause of liver disease or damage Criteria for Diagnosis Diagnosis of exclusion – need to rule out other etiologies of liver disease, including toxins, infections, and hereditary diseases Serum IgG >2.
Avatar n tn Type 2 autoimmune hepatitis is less common and occurs more often in children than adults. And it is good that the present test results are fine. While blood tests and liver biopsy are needed for the diagnosis, other considerations such as risk factors, symptoms and results of other tests are also important. It is important that you talk about this with your attending physician also for proper evaluation. Seeking another specialist's opinion may also help. Take care and do keep us posted.
1229931 tn?1383663339 Wanted to clear something up about what has caused my disease. It wasn't alcohol like the surgeon was saying because I wasn't drinking and don't drink. I have Autoimmune Hepatitis. My sisters and I were all born with this gene, and it comes out in each person differently. It came out as rheumatoid arthritis and thyroidism for my sisters. My father, two uncles and grandmother all died before 64 with similar autoimmune diseases.
Avatar n tn Would early detection and treatment of autoimmune hepatitis make a difference in the progress of the disease?
Avatar f tn Hello. I was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis approximately 7 years ago. Shortly after that, I was also told that I had Hepatitis C. At that time, I was prescribed azathioprine (Imuran), and I took it for nearly two years which helped bring my ALT and AST levels down to normal levels. Also in that time, my sed rate was high (in the 100's), my titrate was 1:640, positive, and homogenous (it may have been homogenous/speckled, but I don't remember).
Avatar n tn I went to Autoimmune Hepatitis and found a number of sites with prognosis' etc and it looks like your hubby will be okay. the one specific site gave the treatment as a series of medications: Muran. Prednisone and steiroids.
Avatar f tn Obviously I wanted to understand this so I began to look up smooth muscle antibodies etc, and found these were affected by illnesses such as epstein bar, glandular fever (which I sufered with at 13) Im almost 40 now, and viral hepatitis. The nausea and fatigue symptoms have now frightened me because they link in with hepatitis. Should I be asking to be tested for this, or just wait the last four weeks until my follow blood test .
Avatar m tn My sister is 25 years old and suffering from disease and autoimmune hepatitis 2 months of the drugs used to suppress the immune system and I want some information about the disease and its treatment have ways
Avatar n tn Ebstein Barr .....a positive IgG with a negative Igm means previous EBV infection (If both were positive that would mean current infection). High levels of IgG may be present and may persist at that concentration for the rest of your life. The ferritin level is high (1492). Normal for a female is 12-150. This test shows higher than normal levels of iron in the body. It can be caused by hemochromatosis, a genetic iron overload disease.
1952776 tn?1325606457 Autoimmune (chronic active) hepatitis (AIH): 50 - 80% of cases, 70% at >1:1002; >1:160 is significant serologic evidence - suspicious for autoimmune hepatitis, especially if liver biopsy contains plenty of plasma cells To note: there have been documented cases of levels >1:160 that were not AIH.
Avatar n tn My mother has undergone liver biopsy and several tests. Liver biopsy and some of the test results are reported below which shows suggestive Autoimmune Hepatitis (detailed report is attached with this email): Liver Biopsy: Chronic hepatitis with onset of cirrhotic changes; HAI score 3 + 3 = 6, Suggestive of autoimmune hepatitis. Liver Profile: SGOT, UV with P5P = 85 U/L; GGTP, G-glutamyl-p-nitroanilide = 241 U/L; Alkaline Phosphatase, PNP-AMP Buffer = 158 U/L.
974371 tn?1424653129 I have suffered from chronic dry mouth and throat (2 biopsies Neg for Sjorgens), had major GI problems last year ( long story you can read in my other posts), night sweats or waking up clammy and nausea which I now somewhat control with acupuncture and ginger and honey. I keep telling the doctors I have seen that I just don't feel well. Any input? I sure as heck don't want a liver biopsy!
Avatar f tn There is a forum titled Autoimmune Diseases which includes Autoimmune Hepatitis. You may want to try posting your question on that forum. This forum deals primarily with hepatitis c.
Avatar n tn the only simptoms are feverish state (up to 37.7 accompanied by chills) in last month, state fatigue and morning he wakes up and can not stand around noon. CT was performed and doctors see anything, negative blood culture, only analyzes which are worrying are C-reactive protein in 2weeks increased from 45 to 60 and a GGT analysis is 485 ... . I mention that the doctors administrate antibiotics without result (ceiling, ampicillin).Thank you Mention as nausea , vomiting not exist.
Avatar f tn I have multiple autoimmune diseases, and I think I have the autoimmune hepatitis, but they said I tested positive for the hep c antibody, tested me a aweek later and said I was in remission.
Avatar f tn Autoimmune Hepatitis in not caused by a virus. It is caused by your own immune system attacking your body. There is NO way that you can 'catch' this from your husband. However, there is a possible genetic factor with the disease, so your children 'could' be at risk, but this is something that doctors aren't sure about, as I understand it. Hope this helps.
439168 tn?1307931740 Elevated liver enzymes and antibodies. High D-dimer test. CRP tests are very high. Low grade temps all the time. Fatigue. Nausea all the time. Abdominal discomfort. A lot of food intolerances. Sjogren's Syndrome (dry everything-sometimes I dont' sweat, if I'm dehydrated). Headaches. Intolerance to cold. Confusion at times (can't focus)....did I leave anything off.....?? Tell me about you.... Please.
Avatar n tn read about ANA and autoimmune hepatitis. It is not lupus or nething like that. I had hepatitis once and now it is gone. I have no symptoms. This is all that makes sense. This does not mean I have autoimmune hepatitis but I definitely need to follow up and watch it because if it grows that means my immune system is attacking myself. This is obviously a rare disease but it is serious.
Avatar f tn This is a hepatitis C forum. Autoimmune hepatitis is a very different disease with different treatments. It might be better to discuss this with your treating doctor. Wishing you the best.
Avatar n tn I had heard of all kinds of hepatitis, but not autoimmune. Not sure of its relevance but I had severe cholestasis when I was pregnant with her. Thank you for whatever information you can provide.
