Avatar m tn I put them on the floor and put my leg on top and just grind the muscle into it, but you can also use your hand to push the ball into the muscle if your flexibility or mobility prevents sitting on the floor.
Avatar f tn Hi all. I'm curious if others suffer from what seems like a muscle knots in the shoulder blade area. Since I became ill with Lyme, I have noticed trigger points in my back that send weird sensations down my arms. It almost feels like an electrical like sensation that drives me crazy. I have tried going to a chiropractor and am currently trying some physical therapy with massage. Nothing seems to really help.
715004 tn?1309077280 Pain was better after surgery and lasted for about 1 year. I experienced muscle atrophy in the shoulder and my right arm. The Dr. examined me and told me that my neck, shoulders and back had so many knots in them that it was as if someone had fired a shotgun at it and everywhere the pellets hit a knot formed and grew. One he lovingly called Mount Everest. He told me, given my history these have been here for MANY years. In addition, my atlas is rotated and "kicked back", too.
Avatar f tn I keep getting knots in my neck and shoulders and both my neck and shoulders ache on an off, any reason as to why this keep s happening?
Avatar f tn He says it starts out with a million tiny knots, as he massages it will turn into larger knots, and then it becomes long rounded hard muscle knot. He refers to it as feelinging like a big worm under my skin-they are near impossible to break up. He once massaged me for 2 and a half hours and the next day the knots were back to the original state. It is extremely painful, and very frustrating. I'm not on any meds for fibro (bad reaction to lyrica). Don't even know if this is fibro.
1523516 tn?1330044257 do any of you have large knots near your joints or down your leg? I have muscle knots (due to the Fibro) but these don't feel like muscle knots. I have 2 large areas on the inside/side of my left knee. My left leg always seems to give me trouble. They have been there since late Feb. early March and sometimes they are really sore and sometimes not at all. More like cysts really. I also have several small ones on my lower back.
655242 tn?1229472744 Can muscle spasms and knots in neck and shoulder cause arm pain, arm weakness, head pain, headache down side of face, headache behind one eye, blurred vision in one eye, burning in collar bone going up neck, jaw pain, dizziness, fatigue. All symptoms are on right side and dont ever really go away and have been going on for about 6 weeks now.
Avatar n tn This question comes up now and then. I used to be very athletic so muscle and joint pain really affected my life - the doctors could not figure out the problem. Its amazing doctors don't associate muscle pain with the thyroid or possibly the type of thyroid med you are taking. I don't know if the trigger points will go away from thyroid meds alone. T3 helped me after being on only T4 for years.
Avatar n tn A few things come in my mind- neurofibromatosis (but then you would have knots elsewhere), some kind of lymphdrainage problem I have never heard before, lymphnode enlargement due to infection or tumor (but then they wouldnt disappear again), fibroma or lipoma (benign, not dangerous tumor of fatty or connective tissue, which is located deeper between muscles and prolapses through muscle fibers.
Avatar f tn Your walking incorrectly as the bodies way to protect your injured foot has possibly put you in the cycle of muscular imbalance. Physical therapy can help you regain strength, BUT what many PT's and Drs fail to address is possible muscle knots that will intervene with the healing and strengthening process - thus the pain continues.
780647 tn?1304020942 hi no im no meds my doctor is going to do a full blood count he said i have muscle knots i also have the same headache for 10months now he said its a tension heaache thanks for your reply
Avatar f tn Trigger points are actually where due to an overuse of a muscle or injury you develop knots in the belly of the muscle. In a process called muscle splinting, a muscle is injured and the muscles around it contract, cutting off the circulation to that area. The body then starts the healing process by creating scar tissue over the injured muscle.
Avatar f tn I suffer from chronic muscle tension, and muscle knots. Flare ups can be quite bad, and last for weeks, months, but I do get some relief. I do not take meds, but my Dr. assured me NOTHING was wrong with me, when I was REALLY hurting last year. To the point where I could barely do much. I focused on the muscle knots and pain so much, it made my anxiety worse. My knots got so bad at one point, that it made my muscles feel super weak at times, sometimes my arms would shake. Very scary, but my Dr.
Avatar m tn It is where you developed tight bands of muscle tissue, kinda like knots but very painful. To touch them is like putting a knife into you. The therapist i saw was brilliant. He was in Wilmington Delaware and was specially trained in trigger point release (muscle band release). He has taught others throughout the US on this technique and I am sure you can find one as effective.
Avatar f tn t go to the bathroom when this happens. It simply feels like I have hundreds of tight knots that will NOT relax themselves. Which then leads to my anxiety kicking up, which makes things worse then they already are. The stomach muscle pain doesn't happen as much as the leg pain, but it's happening more frequently. Any help?
1166402 tn?1303847056 Does anyone have palpable muscle knots on the lower back. I have a squishy type nodule that is by my flank area over the lower lumbar region. The PT said its where the muscles meet and there seems to be a ball of muscle. I was wondering if these are trigger points? He has left the office for good and now I can't ask him more about it. I've been have leg pains and feathery/tickling like sensations on my calf muscles. Could this all be back related. (not shooting pain either).
Avatar m tn His dump truck broke down and we have been rebuilding it. He has noticed these pear shaped but dime size raised knots on the back of his neck in his hair line almost even with the middle of his ears an inch back in that lil soft spot area. When he stands up he gets dizzy! Have given him Advil and it did not help. The bumps are tender to the touch. Any help?
Avatar m tn 3 weeks ago I had a knot about half an inch wide and 2 inches long which hurts to the touch appear on the outside of my left thigh. I thought that it was a knot in my muscle so I tried to rub it out. After doing so I noticed that the hair follicles were red. I didn't mess with it anymore, put some antibiotic cream on it, but the knot is still there. About 3 days ago I had a 2 inch circular knot appear on the calf muscle of the same leg.
Avatar f tn I think you may have a hard time noticing a needle mark in the muscle, it would be similar for example if you went to the doctor and got a flu shot you don't see any marks in the muscle after a shot there, when a person shoots drugs in their veins they usually keep using the same spot for long periods of time and marks become visible, in my day using H sometimes missing the vein resulted in swelling. That's my opinion, maybe someone else can share their experience.
Avatar f tn What happens to Hashi patients is some tend to get a build up of lactic acid in the muscles, or small muscle knots. These knots in turn, also put pressure on the nerves anywhere from the neck, shoulder or forearm causing a tingling or electrical shock sensation in the fingers. An occupational therapist or physical therapist that understands how to manually remove muscle knotting via therapeutic massage would help a lot.
Avatar m tn Once you loosen those knots and can start to exercise efficiency (it is important to strengthen the damaged muscle), Whey protein powder (easier on the stomach) will help your muscles recover; its not just for steroid pumped 'meat heads' at the gym.
Avatar n tn Arm and neck problems can be caused from compression or aggravation on the nerves in the neck. This can be from "muscle knots" or from degeneration in the spine. Sensations that are felt in the leg can be caused from impingement of nerves or aggravation of the sciatic nerve causing sciatica. The symptoms that you describe will highly likely be related to spinal problems.
Avatar m tn I have two knots in my right leg below my knee. One in the lower leg muslce and the other on the interior right side of leg. No visible sign of knots but some pain when touched or rubbed.
Avatar n tn You may have muscle knots from tension. There are exercises to correct this. Pay attention to your sleeping position. Try ibuprofen. Get a friend to massage your neck, looking for knots to press. Go to YouTube looking for exercises for neck pain. Get referred to a physical therapist if this doesn't resolve.
1253246 tn?1332073310 Strength was measured today and was 70 in my right(good) arm and 60 in my left so Therapist says Im doing good and range of motion is coming back fast. She has told me I have alot of muscle knots in my shoulder blade. She massages them on every visit.Im having alot of pain in that area and a burning sensation also.It this common with this type of surgery and therapy???My shoulder blade is actually hurting more than my arm.
Avatar n tn These knots you get do they feel like cramping of the muscle? I also have fibromyalgia, and man oh man it is not fun. Some drs say it doesnt progress or get worse over time but i would strongly disagree with them. Back to the knots. I get those alll the time. most of the time its in the backs of my legs and my shoulderblades and arms. I also dont have any insurance so i pay out of pocket to see a pain specialist.
