Avatar n tn On occasion, I will get a really hard bump in the cartilage on my nose. I have tried to not touch it this time, and it has continually gotten larger and more pus-filled. Today, after seeing the giant scab with pus behind it, and with a really sore nose, I decided to push on it. After the first squeeze, this really nasty white gunky stuff shot out. After a few pushes, it was just blood.
Avatar f tn The scabs seem to be much darker and very hard now which seems odd since they are constantly covered in ointment. Is this normal? When/how does this become classified as ecthyma vs impetago? Mine seems very chronic and severe and the lesions never completely heal, even if the surface does they seem to be lumpy and can "reactivate' anytime for no apparent reason. The worst are on the nose and cheeks but they are also on my forehead and chin and sometimes a few on my ear lobes.
Avatar n tn It is very annoying, noticeable, and I can feel it constantly - it feels like a disturbed dryness although I keep it moist with ointment (Centany, mupirocin ointment). I have attached 2 pictures and two close ups of it below. There is a small part on the side of the nose that may contain a little bit of puss, but I can't tell for sure. Thank you in advance for your help! http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f387/jbobbet/nose1.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f387/jbobbet/nose3.

Avatar f tn Well she had a surgery about 6 months ago and we received mupirocin ointment for it. I was curious to find out if the mupirocin ointment would have any affect on her sores? I know it's to fight infection and bacterial growth but I was hoping it would alleviate her pain and sooth her raw hot spot. Thanks in advance!
1624182 tn?1299190828 They are more common in areas with many oil glands like nose, cheeks, face, back and shoulders. Another possibility is that these are boils which are usually caused by bacteria Staphylococci .It is often the cause of recurring boils. Avoid itching as this can lead to spread of infection. I will advise you to see a primary care physician and get it checked. Treatment will depend on the cause. Best luck and regards!
Avatar m tn Hi, I recently scraped the skin around my nose (not on my nose) and I went to the doctor and she gave me an ointment called Mupirocin to apply to the scrape and the affected area soon began to scab, all the scabs fell off today and now my skin is pink. I am really afraid that it will stay like this and I don't think I can handle people staring constantly. Its been 6 days since the injury, I never removed any of the scars by hand, they all peeled away. Thanks in advance for the help.
Avatar m tn The lesions lOOK just like what I see online for impetago and the derm did just give me mupirocin topical so he must be considering it possible impetago.......it might, might be improving ???? on this the third day of mupirocin but if it is it is SLOW improvement. How long should it take to know? I have lots of trouble with oral antibiotics, including anaphalaxis so i was not given any at this time. I am worried the topical is not enough.
Avatar m tn will this cause worse scarring? I apply ointment onto it daily that contains mupirocin. how long should it take to heal?

I started out with only a couple little ones last week and now I have 8 of them (some bigger than others). Should I be concerned?

Avatar m tn i accidentally peeled off a layer of skin on my nose using a tweezer and now it has gotten a bit bigger. it has a red patch and don't know how to make it heal quicker. could you recommend any products or should i just leave it alone. it had formed a scab once before but came off as i washed my face with a cloth, the healing process didn't really look too good so i squeeze it to make it bleed hopefully for it to heal better.
