mupirocin and cold sores

I have gotten cold sores before, though not very often and last week while I had recently got sick I felt a bit of tingling and saw some redness. I immediatley applied cold sore medication and started taking 2000 - 3000 g of lysine. Now 5 days later, there is a bit of barely visible redness on the top corner of my lip, which Im guessing is a barely formed cold sore? Also, a white head just appeared on it. Is it most likely a cold sore?

And I squeezed it and fluid came out, later in the day I squeezed it again and a little thicker pus came out and I noticed a hair coming out of the opening after messing with it. 24 hours after initially noticing I had a doctor do a swab test and I insisted on breaking the scab to go get better results he said not necessary and just kind of grazed it. The tests came back negative on one and inconclusive on the other. What does this mean?

Its not herpes/cold sores ive seen pictures and i looks nothing like it ,i wouldnt have a reason to have gotten it

I have been sick for a few days and didnt shower so that may be the cause but im not sure. One place is swollen and has two smaller cuts and one large sore. Another place has.five small sores. They itch and burn when i pee and when im just doing normal activities. Im embarresed to tell my mom but mabye i should? Im not sure but they look gross and i get disgusted even thinking about them. I was first prescribed Mupirocin ointment but had to go back because the blisters were still forming and spreading to my hands and arms. The second time I was put on doxycycline. I'm only on day 2 of the doxycycline but hopefully it works.

Hello, If it is a simple hair follicle, then it can heal even without antibiotics, but use of antibiotics will help in healing and will fasten it. I think its herpes or cold sores and i got it in the exact location lik in the third picture here. I've been using b complex forte capsules and riboflavine 10mg tablets since yesterday morning upon medical practitioner's advice. I have noticed a big bump well above my vagina and when i examine it its really extremely sore and when i touch to feel it i can feel it hard inside and I felt the same thing on the back of my leg and when it was leaking it was leaking red and brownish like puss and blood. I have small white sores in the mouth corners and they are not like sores but just white spots.They are there for the past 6 months or so.I showed doctors, some said they are apthous ulcers ,,some said due to vitamin deficiency,,I didnt continue the vitamin tablets,some told thats because of paste allergy.But it is not gng away,,it is nt paining and one should nt see them unless i stretch my corners.Plz suggest me somethng its irritating and annoying some times burning too.

Our dachshund/chihuaua has black sores on the bottom of her ears. We took her to the vet and she didn't know what it was. She gave her a shot of some kind and Mupirocin ointment but it didn't do anything. She also suggested that it could be her food so we changed her food and the lady at the pet store recommended Calm Coat (a natural topical spray) but it still isn't healing. How do we find out what it is without spending a lot of money we don't have?

Try taking some iron supplements and multivitamins for some days and see if the sumptoms persist.Also apply antibiotic cream like Neosporin or Mupirocin on the bumps and see if they persist. i have noticed sores in my penis shaft near where the glan starts on retracting my foreskin. These are small reddish sores and I have been applying mupirocin since yesterday. There has been no reduction . Initial I had itching in my penis. But now the sores feel slightly stinging when I pull back the foreskin. Is this the right medication. How long will it take.to heal.

Hello, These sores can be due to folliculitis, boils or herpes sores if you are sexually active. For folliculitis, keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful .In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed.

I have sores on my genital area, they started out as red bumps/lumps and now look kind of like an open sore and some are white in colour on the top, they have not been any clusters forming like you would expect with herpes, but I'm still very concerned. They are very painful to touch and one is in a very awkward place therefore causing irritation and pain. I have applied sudocream to them, And some are drying up and going away however, some remain and i want to know what these lumps are.

Hello, Sorry,I jumbled up the answers and posted for another question.In your case,I think that the cold sensations that you have are related to diabetic or autonomic neuropathy.It is there when the blood sugar levels are not properly controlled.I feel that you should consult an endocrinologist and discuss regarding the dose of insulin with him.Also get your blood sugar levels esp Hb A 1c levels monitored. And my biggest fear was giving them to my kids. i have not gotten the blood test b/c i assumed it would take the same incubation time(3 weeks) to appear. i did talk to someone today who said her husband has cold sores and sometimes accidentally kisses her and she has never had one. it has at least given me a little hope. i talked to him and he said his exes and his two daughters have never had a problem with them.

especially when i hear over and over again on these messages boards, on google, and wikipedia that cold sores = hsv1. i guess i'm asking because i'm literally blown away that hsv is soooooo prevalent. what blows me away also is that people w/cold sores who have hsv1 orally have NO CLUE that it can be transmitted to the genitals, as was the case w/me. it's amazing. also, i've talked to so many people lately, educating.
