A: The most inportant word in this question is 'if' and even IF you do end up being diagnosed with a neurological condition like MS, the answer would be No, because MS is not that type of medical condition.

It is really a shock to get this diagnosis and then you worry when the symptoms are not getting better with treatment. But, please be patient with the treatment as it will eventually work and her symptoms will calm down.

I was wondering what the average life expectancy is for someone who is bipolar? I've done some research online and I was unable to figure out if having bipolar affects your life expectancy or not. There wasn't a lot of information available about it, but I imagine that's because there are a lot of factors that go into determining that.
Time to decide that life with MS will change their life and their families. MS encumpases the whole family not just the individual with the disease. This is a learning process for the whole family.

I believe each person is different. But, if you have been diagnosed with cancer it is important to start treatment as soon as possible to stop progression of the disease, it can only get worse not better. And survival depends on many factors such as, the stage, the grade of the cancer cells (1, 2, 3.....

Some of the immediate side effects like nausea and vomiting already have fairly good medications to counter the adverse experience of treatment. The other symptoms such as fatigability still need much work (put another way, this is something the patient has to deal with). Since we have a similar hx and tx, I wanted to respond. Drs dont like to give us life expectancy answers, do they? We know they are right when they say it is all relative, it all depends on so-and-so, etc etc. but we still want a statistically based ball-park figure, right? I want to hear things like "You have a 70% chance of recurrence within 3-5 years," or "56% of those who have a similar recurrence will die within the following 2 years.

I am hoping someone will be able to better explain the life expectancy of a 31-year-old male who has had Hep C for a minimum of 4 years; suffered a heart attack 2 years ago; shortness of breath with exertion; swelling of arms and legs; multiple hospitalizations after which the swelling improves, bleeding in vomit and urination/stools, severe allergic reactions to Interferon with three attempts at treatment; and may be showing signs of encephalopathy.
I doubt very highly he is a transplant option. Any advice or helpful suggestions would be appreciated. Even a life expectancy - whether good or bad would be nice. He's not on oxygen at this time.

I have read several websites who claim that Scoliosis decreases your life expectancy by 14.8 years, which all reference the same study. However, other websites, including wiki, claim that it has no effect on life expectancy and say that it is a myth. This is also backed up by a study done by Iowa University. Also, the study that claims that Scoliosis decreases your life by 14.8 years says that the patients were untreated.
