Avatar n tn Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear of your SIL's medical problems. Some of her symptoms do sound neurological but no one here is able to diagnose your SIL. Now as far as educated guesses go...the neurologist may be thinking MS or some other neuro-muscular disease. It is possible to have all the tests you mentioned be normal and still be MS . If it's MS the neuro is thinking of , the Mayo as gotten mixed reviews here on the forum.
Avatar n tn 2 mo. ago had brain MRI for mild headaches.showed UBO s. Neuro Dr say not look like MS. had spine MRI, was normal.Started with brief lightheadedness, and numbness left side in face hand and foot, that are brief but reoccur. In adition to frequent mild tension headache still. So did a EMG of left limbs normal. Dr. says not MS, and no reason to go on to Evoked potential test or lumbar puncture. Dr.
Avatar f tn This is due to an inflammation in the temporal artery and other arteries in the body. Symptoms include one sided headache pain in the temple and jaw that may be triggered by chewing. This condition can be diagnosed by a blood test called an ESR and a biopsy of the artery. It is very important to rule this diagnosis out as it is highly treatable and if left untreated it can lead to vision loss. It is exceedingly rare in people younger than 55, and is more common in even older age groups.
Avatar f tn m now on medication that is helping my headache. During this time I have also developed symptoms of MS. I went to a neurologist and I was told that it seems like I have MS except the MRI of my head was "fine". At my insistence, she did schedule me for a C spine MRI. If the MRI was done to to try and find a reason for my headache, could lesions have been overlooked when my MRI was read because they were looking for something that could be causing a headache and not MS?
Avatar f tn s, one to check for MS, because my sister has MS, and another to check for a brain tumor. I think from reading posts on here a leak of CSF. I had a spinal for delivery 1 1/2 years ago, don't know if that would have anything to do with it, but I heard it can be idiopathic, and not all MRI can detect it. Just a shot in the dark, but wouldn't a lumbar punture test beable to detect this. This is so weird, it just all started one day.
10316707 tn?1409253594 Hi...there are several conditions with very similar symptoms....so 1- request copies of your MRI and the report....2- get several opinions.... I have a condition with similar symptoms which is often misDX'd as MS but is more common then MS...but not as well known so finding Drs well informed and experienced is not always easy.... The thing is do not stress out as many of the conditions with these symptoms can flare when we stress out...so try to relax until you get more info....
Avatar m tn Hi Stace - - I think that you are only aware of your symtom when you focus in it, i.e. are not distracted by anything, points away from MS. MS symptoms tend to be up front :-) As Alex mentioned, I'd start by discussing your concerns with you GP.
410281 tn?1254229064 ve done the search for headache and MS before, but today I really had to dig in because of poor rendeans thread after her visit with the "fellow." The search comes up with over three million articles and blogs related to the correlation between MS and headaches. This small piece comes off of the MS Society website: "One report noted that migraine headaches were more than twice as common in a group of MS patients than in a matched group of people without MS.
Avatar f tn Those are called hemaplegic migraines (I may have not spelled that right, but the % of people who have them is unusually low. I was diagnosed with them back in 1981. My entire right side would go numb along with the eye problem but no headache, thus atypical, but hemaplegic is their name. I don't feel so alone now! Someone else I know has them!

Avatar f tn I have MS and atypical migraines. My migraine symptoms last a short time and usually resolve with medication where my MS symptoms do not. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn If you are not happy with his response, or if he seems overly focussed on headache, I would seek a second opinion. As MS has the broadest rainbow of symptoms, then as ALex suggested I would see the MS doc.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern. In multiple sclerosis, common symptoms could be loss of muscle coordination & strength, normal sensation and vision. Other symptoms could be sometimes headache, delirium, seizures and coma.
Avatar f tn new daily persistant headache....i went to a headache clinic....you might want to look into that... i had very similar symptoms...hope it helps...
Avatar f tn I am brand new to this group. Nice to meet you. I have read many stories similar to mine. I have what have been called: basilar type migraines, hemiplegic migraines: I have a left side headache, and associated with this, I also have numbness/tingling along entire right side - face-arm-fingers-leg-toes, leg weak, can't walk properly, can't find words, confused, dizzy, worse with heat - caused by heat. headache lasts an hour - other symptoms last days to weeks.
Avatar f tn s are only one piece of the MS diagnosis. The most important part of any MS diagnosis is the clinical exam. If you suspect MS then you should be evaluated by a neurologist that specializes in MS? There are things aaaaan MS specialist mught see than a geneal neurologist might miss. I agree with ess that your symptoms don't make my mind jump to MS. While there are no absoloutes with MS, numbness and tingling etc. tend to be more localized than "left side".
429700 tn?1308007823 Are my migraines which I have had since childhood almost as long as I have had MS related to MS I do not know? Many MS Specialists still do not link the two. But many MS Specialists dismiss things they can not solve easily. I kinda think in my case when the nerves on the left side of my face which is my MS side get inflamed by anything it sets off the MS ergo a migraine. This is just my opinion. For me it is usually a change in weather, barometric pressure or my sinuses that sets it off.
