Common Questions and Answers about Ms symptoms early eye

multiple-sclerosis

Avatar f tn I am going tomorrow for the results of my MRI of Brain and Spine, VEP (visual evoked potential) and EMG. Of course I have alot of anxiety because I have exhibited several MS symptoms. About 20 years ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and I am hypothyroid. My questions is would anyone be willing to tell me some of the symptoms they were experiencing prior to your MS diagnosis?
Avatar f tn He acknowledges my very much sensory sx, plus leg fatigue (can barely climb stairs or small hill), and heat intolerance daily Specifically, occasional brief parasthesias, vertigo almost daily now, About 6 weeks of eye tremors in left lower limb between April and June, some pain in right back from ribs to waist. Anyway, my question is, pending my thyroid labs continue to remain stable, is it possible for MS sx early on to start out with just sensory sx such as these?
Avatar f tn Im beginning to think that these are the early symptoms of MS. Please help because I am beyond frightened. and the more I worry about these symptoms the worse they seem to get.
Avatar f tn Your neurologist may have thought that the disease is not very well pronounced . It is a fact that most patients with MS do not get all the symptoms and an MRI also doesn’t show specific findings in the early stage . Please go for a second opinion because your symptoms haven’t subsided . Hope this helps you . Take care and regards !
Avatar f tn Wow! Thanks for being so open and welcoming and willing to share your stories! First of all, yes you are correct my name is Denise. Probably the first thing I can think back to that something wasn't quite right was about 2 years ago when I started feeling like I couldn't always empty my bladder fully and also around that time I got to where I could not stand heat. No big deal, never really thought much of it, just Hmmmm.... this is strange.
Avatar f tn The reason why I am here is because I feel like I have early symptoms of MS or some other neuromuscular disease. Hopefully someone here has or has not expierenced what I am that way I can move forward with going to the doctor or maybe just slow down my drinking. I very scared and really do not want to go to the doctor for fear that they will think I am over reacting. Any help would be appreciated!
1059772 tn?1286655190 Hi, I am currently for the second time in my life going through an evaluation for MS. I was in my early twenties when I had a foot drag, loss of right eye sight, protrusion on my brain. I was hospital for weeks. I did not get a diagnosis. I was also checked for a stroke. Physician told me that more than likely I had MS but could not give diagnosis. All systems went away within several months, except my right eye has nerve damage. That was approximately 30 years ago.
Avatar f tn Hi I'm 39 been dealing with an MS like illness for 15 years. Early tests suggested Lupus but now tests are negative ! , had bouts of sun rashes but now just cannot stand heat over 75 degrees or I get lethargic. Have not had MRI in 12 yrs or seen a neurologist , the first one I saw 15 yrs ago said I might as well have MS but MRI was normal!
Avatar f tn I am 38 years old and have a tingling sensation in my feet for about six years. Recently I had an episode of double vision whilst driving that was preceded by a quick "snap" sensation in my head. It was the most bizarre experience and rectified itself within minutes. I have also recently had days where my left eye lower lid feels like it is puffy and dragging down but looks fine to look at.
Avatar n tn Hey. Thanks for the input. Yes, I have scheduled an MRI. And I get ticklish feeling on my face and parathesia feelings. Now I'm getting this blurred itchy eye feeling in right eye. And my left eye hurts too. I'll keep you posted. Could be allergy sinuses. This dry air is terrible!
Avatar f tn From my month or so of symptoms, I have most of those. Others will be able to give you a better answer hopefully to help you. My eye has been blurry/blind for 2 weeks or so. I still have vibrations that feels cellphones are wrapped around my chest area, and just drop to my knees. Happens in less than a second. Started with 2 maybe 3 an hour. Last day or so it happens 2-3 times a minute it seems.
Avatar m tn Early MS does not mean small issues that later get more intense---it usually means individual symptoms that multiply as the disease attacks additional parts of the central nervous system. Early MS can be quite severe. If you continue to have eye problems, see a good ophthalmalogist.
Avatar f tn (Sorry it cut off the rest of my story) I saw optometrist and failed a field of vision test last month, tested again last week and failed again worse than before. He said the part of my optic nerve he can see looks good but there's a long part he can't see and the pattern of the field of vision I'm losing makes him want to send me to a Neuro opthomologist. When I asked him what he thought it was he said he wasn't sure... I told him to just be straight up with me...
Avatar f tn Hello -- I have had symptoms that "could be" MS or something else for about a month. I am wondering how MS usually presents itself in the early stages? I took prescription Lorazepam (Ativan) for 6 months for anxiety, and became dependent on it. I had to detox off it 3 months ago. It is possible that due to the bad rapid detox (10 days using phenobarbital) that I am now experiencing these neurologic symptoms as part of the withdrawal.
Avatar f tn They said it was a drug interaction to the single dose of tesselon perle I had been given early the day due to bronchitus, Monday symptoms persisted doctor said it was possibly from the low dose 50mg once daily seroquel I had been on, however nothing seems to add up and Google keeps suggesting ms. So I'm curious if others think my symptoms suggest the same. If so how do I get my doctors to believe me?
1475492 tn?1332884167 ve now been dx with unilateral adult acquired Nystagmus (MS related), diplopa which is double vision (MS related), significant unilateral deficit, unilateral pale optic disc (ON = MS or glacoma = not) and cork screw ocular veins (??).
9745005 tn?1410044366 Hi Karen - There are many possible causes for your eye symptoms. The dings you felt for 3 minutes don't sound too MSish to me. Our symptoms tend to stick around for a bit :-) If you look up almost any neurological symptom MS is likely to be listd as a possible cause. Because it attacks the central nervous system, MS can cause all kinds of symptoms. That doesn't mean that MS is the cause of most neurological symptoms. It's not.
629189 tn?1225402248 t believe these symptoms could be MS. I want to be refered to someone who knows enough about MS NOT to dx me WITH MS but who can also rule it OUT. I'm pretty certain that when I go to UNC-Chapel Hill MS Clinic next week that they will order another MRI WITH contrast and hopefully a VEP, bloodwork etc. I pray that they do not dismiss my symptoms as being diabetes related or dismissed period ... How completely devastated will I feel being written off !? ( my greatest fear ...
Avatar m tn I'm not diagnosed with MS. I have 2 clear brain MRI(between 1y, w/o contrast) 1 clear C-spine MRI(w/ w/o contrast) before (All by 3T mri). Recently I have a dirty VEP 121,129 ms(6 months before at hospital A it's normal 107,107 ms). I didn't feel any significant changes of my eyes during the past 6 months. I visited doctor in hospital A. She thought it's impossible for me to have ON if I didn't feel that in the past 6 months. She's gonna have me test again at 5/2.
Avatar m tn Is that consistant with symptoms of MS? If its my right brain affected would it cause symptoms on my left side and right eye? I'm really lost in all this right now and I'm not sure if I will be taken serriously by my doctor. Everything is very confusing. I'm trying to become as educated as I can so I can help understanding and get a correct diagnosis.
5550900 tn?1369728085 Hi Stephie, I just wanted to say that it's quite common for ms symptoms to flare up post partum and I had my first big flare around 4 months after my youngest son's birth. I was told by my neuro that symptoms often ease during pregnancy too but he didn't explain why this is! Anyway, with regard to your questions: did you have an mri of both your brain AND Cspine? Because sometimes one area might not have any lesions but the other has.
Avatar n tn //ms-multple-sclerosis-symptoms.com/MS-symptoms.html I can tell you that when it comes to diagnosing MS a lot of times it is very difficult to reach a definite diagnosis. My first neuro told me that if nothing happens in the next 5 years I had nothing to worry about (A year after that I had my second episode). You can read more about some of the usual test performed to diagnose MS at http://www.ms-multiple-sclerosis-symptoms.com/diagnosing-multiple-sclerosis.html.
Avatar m tn //www.webmd.com/multiple-sclerosis/news/20070601/super-early-ms-treatment-best It doesn't sound like ALS (lower neuron disease). Optic neuritis is associated with demyelinating diseases such as MS (upper neuron disease--brain, spinal cord, optic nerve). MS isn't always all that devastating--especially with early treatment. Most people with MS live a normal life span without the use of a wheelchair. It could be that your wife doesn't have MS at all, too.
