Common Questions and Answers about Ms symptoms early detection

multiple-sclerosis

Avatar f tn There is a thought that MS has a genetic connection but that is not confirmed, so there is no gene tests for MS. At this stage the cause of MS is still unknown, the research is mamoth but no one so far can pin it down. Anyway welcome to our little corner of the web, great place to land! I can understand your worry but try not to let your self focus on something that may never happen, the odds are quite low in the overal scheme of things. Cheers...........JJ PS.
Avatar f tn d say if your period is due on Friday, today would still be too early to pick up enough hormone. However, symptoms are pretty unusual at this early I pregnancy. Those are also symptoms of PMS. I had no symptoms before my period was due and nausea starts on average for women at about 6 to 7 weeks into the pregnancy because the hormones have to accumulate enough to cause the symptom.
Avatar f tn I am going tomorrow for the results of my MRI of Brain and Spine, VEP (visual evoked potential) and EMG. Of course I have alot of anxiety because I have exhibited several MS symptoms. About 20 years ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and I am hypothyroid. My questions is would anyone be willing to tell me some of the symptoms they were experiencing prior to your MS diagnosis?
Avatar f tn Wow! Thanks for being so open and welcoming and willing to share your stories! First of all, yes you are correct my name is Denise. Probably the first thing I can think back to that something wasn't quite right was about 2 years ago when I started feeling like I couldn't always empty my bladder fully and also around that time I got to where I could not stand heat. No big deal, never really thought much of it, just Hmmmm.... this is strange.
Avatar n tn The research I have read about early detection has me concerned. Any knowledge or adcise is appreciated.
Avatar m tn The doc I was forced to see thinks I have psychological problems and not ms despite lessions and symptoms. My insurance is hmo so I have to see their approved docs and in a rural community there is no choices. As my condition has progressed over the years I have given up on the "early detection and treatment" so many docs talk about. I have become absolutely positive that I will be crippled by this before I get treated.
Avatar f tn Im beginning to think that these are the early symptoms of MS. Please help because I am beyond frightened. and the more I worry about these symptoms the worse they seem to get.
Avatar f tn Good to rule it out. Early detection is key. Iron levels may not be very high in early stages (not to be confused with CBC's) but a person can certainly be symptomatic. Dr.s have a hard time pinpointing the early symptoms, as they have been taught to look for the end stage symptoms, which are liver cirrhosis, diabetes, and bronze skin. Early warning signs are arthritis, painful joints, fatigue, muscle weakness, brain fog, abdominal pain, digestive problems that they may say is IBS, etc.
Avatar f tn I recently started to feel aces in my breast other than the tingling in my nppls ... Waiting is what drives me crazy !!! I wish I could just get a symptom that would just tell me .. Haven't been nautious but my lower abdomen is doing a lot of moving or spading mild cramping and I feel a pulling sensation that almost feels like its making me have a huge urge to urine.. It's wayyyyy to early for ms symptoms and the nppls are getting stronger ... Hoping Hcg builds up quick !!
Avatar f tn My question is how long after exposure can I get tested for the early detection test? Also how accurate are these tests? Thanks for everything you guys do!
Avatar f tn He acknowledges my very much sensory sx, plus leg fatigue (can barely climb stairs or small hill), and heat intolerance daily Specifically, occasional brief parasthesias, vertigo almost daily now, About 6 weeks of eye tremors in left lower limb between April and June, some pain in right back from ribs to waist. Anyway, my question is, pending my thyroid labs continue to remain stable, is it possible for MS sx early on to start out with just sensory sx such as these?
147426 tn?1317265632 ve wanted to speak to others about for a long time. Before I was disabled with MS I was a pediatrician for 23 years. Before that I was an outdoor lifeguard in Southern California. I discovered a way to see sunburn before it completely develops with pain and redness. I hope this isn't inappropriate for this new forum. I always chose to wear brown tinted, instead of gray tinted, sunglasses when I was a lifeguard.
1768276 tn?1313765923 I am new here and not sure if I am posting this in the appropriate spot...I have been having symptoms since last summer, went away for months and then came back stronger. PCP said 99% sure this is early MS, Neuro said sure looks like MS. My LP was normal. My brain mri had one "t2 high signal, possibly incedental abnormality. (I do not understand what a t2 high signal is?) So, Neuro tells me, nothing is wrong. Well, I have always very healthy until several months after my 3rd child was born.
Avatar f tn Eight years ago I began having what my doctors said were MS symptoms, but the MRI and spinal fluid were negative, so MS was ruled out. Is it possible to have MS in the early stages before there is evidence on tests? I’ve had slowly progressive symptoms over the years (weakness, unsteadiness, and stiffness), and have recently developed some memory and visual problems. I continue to see a neurologist, who simply treats symptoms. I’m wondering if it is worth pursuing another MRI. Thank you.
1260255 tn?1288654564 I think that CSF studies, MRI, and clinical exam are all important tools that doctors use to determine the presence of MS with certainty. Early detection is key in MS to reduce the amount of permanent damage. Receiving treatment for MS when the diagnosis is wrong is damaging in many ways. A number of recent studies found that presence of Oligoclonal Banding improves the accuracy of diagnosis.
Avatar m tn So I am having all the symptoms but kinda worried I'm symptomatic. I posted early about how I am getting queasy cramps but not period cramps, exhausted, sore boobs with my nipples and around them getting darker. I get home from class and sleep till like I have to cook dinner (which then I feel like I'm sick again from the smell) or until work if I have work that day.
Avatar n tn http://www.webmd.com/multiple-sclerosis/guide/recognizing-multiple-sclerosis AS you see from the list, there are many symptoms, which also may be signs of other disease. An MRI doesn't rule out MS - people can have neg MRI, and still have MS - AND you can have lesions, and not have MS. So it can help in the dx process, but there is not a specific test to show MS. Many mimics have to be ruled out along the dx process. The dx process for MS can be long and frustrating.
Avatar n tn I just got a full panel test for everything including an early detection test for HIV. All came back negative, except they are requesting I come back to give another sample for the early detection HIV test because supposedly they could not use that sample. Why could they use it for one and not the other? I am freaking out that it came back positive and they are not telling me. Could that be the case and that is why I have to retest?
Avatar f tn Your neurologist may have thought that the disease is not very well pronounced . It is a fact that most patients with MS do not get all the symptoms and an MRI also doesn’t show specific findings in the early stage . Please go for a second opinion because your symptoms haven’t subsided . Hope this helps you . Take care and regards !
Avatar f tn the 4% risk is per year. you had unprotected sex so you should follow up with proper testing at the proper times. you can get tested for chlamydia, gonorrhea, trich and ngu any time after 1 week post encounter. syphilis after 6 weeks. herpes, hiv and hepatitis after 3 months. what early detection dna test are you talking about?
