Mri scanner

Common Questions and Answers about Mri scanner

mri-scan

Avatar n tn Also the size has to be known. The technician then adjusts the sensitivity of the MRI scanner so no danger to the stent is presented. Maybe the scanner was adjusted to a level where it was unable to detect the stent. An Mri works by passing a magnetic field through the body. Our bodies contain billions of Hydrogen atoms which rotate on a normal axis. When the magnetic field hits them, the axis changes. Then the magnetic field stops and the atoms can return back to their normal axis.
Avatar f tn In the frequency direction, the MRI scanner uses the frequency of the signal to indicate spatial position. Since water in organs and muscle resonate at a different frequency than fat, the MRI scanner mistakes the frequency difference as a spatial (positional) difference. As a result, fat containing structures are shifted in the frequency direction from their true positions.
Avatar m tn Usually you fill in a form before the procedure which asks these questions. The powerful magnets in the mri scanner can heat any metal implants so you must inform them, then the equipment is adjusted accordingly. I believe they lower the intensity of the magnetic field.
6012171 tn?1381679620 This was done on a GE 3.0 Tesla scanner (good strength). A whole series of different electromagnetic pulses were used and a whole series of miracles happened which the computer turned into a new series of pictures. Contrast material was used. Comparison: A previous MRI which was not done with contrast.
847433 tn?1243009652 Just went back to this post in reference to steroids. If I had recently cervical epidurals (steriods) for pain from cervical herniations would this effect seeing any lesions on a non-contrast or contrast for that matter MRI?
Avatar f tn Hi six months ago I was taken to hospital when i suddenly lost the strength in my right arm and leg and developed a facial droop ( grimmace) from three MRI scans one showed a lesion but I was told I must have moved in the scanner. A blood test for Acetycholine antibodies was deemed as a false positive. I left hospital with a diagnosis of conversion disorder. Saw a psychologist who said I am fine and do not have CD.
Avatar n tn You will get ear plugs to reduce the noise of the MRI scanner. MRIscanners are air conditioned and well lit with music to pass time. Some discomfort due to intravenous needle on insertion and removal. No recovery period is required if you have not been sedated. Take care.
Avatar f tn No, full body scanners at airport cannot detect cancer or inflammation. A yellow patch on full body scanner means that the thing is not a part of the body. The scanner can detect any prosthesis, stent, implants, and other things like colostomy bags, and other metallic or non-metallic things etc. Maybe he had some operation in childhood or there is some implant that is coming up as a yellow square.
338416 tn?1420045702 So should I contact the neurologist and ask to have that MRI taken off? This was an MRI done on a .7T open-bore scanner, so I'm not surprised that it showed nothing. I'm just afraid that these guys will do something crazy, like take away my diagnosis. And I'm not sure what to say to them, except that I don't trust my current neurologist! Even though he was the one that diagnosed me.
198419 tn?1360242356 t get me wrong, they still look like a tube, but more like a CT scanner than the conventional MRI machine. However, you still have to wear the head camera or "coil" over your head which makes most people claustrophobic, and the neck piece for the cervical/thoracic spine MRIS. Definately a major improvement.
1453990 tn?1329231426 Well, they did the 2nd MRI, but look like they did brain with and without contrast on a 1.5 t machine at a facility that has Two 3T machines. They said since the baseline was a 1.5 T the followup should be a 1.5 T, Guess I'll wait to see what the Neuro-Rad has to say. Also look like they didn't bother with the C-Spine. Just a bit frustrated.
Avatar f tn I have just had my appt through for a MRI with contrast of the head and spine. I am feeling very anxious as I am very clausaphobic and will be in the scanner for about an hour. If I get sedated my appt will be longer. How small is the tube?
Avatar m tn I have been having these sharp pains, mainly in my left temple where that vein is, sometimes it will shift the the right side but only momentarily. Along side with my upper neck (behind the where the skull meets) and my left shoulder pain plus an unsettling feeling of dizziness and or vertigo, I have been seeing a chiropractor for the past few months now. She doesn't crack bones like your average type, she uses what is known as an adjuster or re-alignment tool.
Avatar f tn He just scheduled a MRI T3 Scanner and Evoked Potential testing. I am just not sure if this is severe enough I should wait and see if I have any more symptoms or if I shoudl go through with all the test. THanks!
495035 tn?1221753092 Have had two MRI brain scan done in two days and cervical. Demylination is what the neuro wrote and primary T ?whatever primary T? is any ideas anyone? 901131 tn?1293744553 Everytime I visit this website my Antivirus catches a threat Rogue Scanner and removes it. A rogue scanner is a fake antivirus application that simulates false malware alerts on the user's computer and forces the purchase of a fake solution, thus gaining access to credit card information and money. It's getting old, fix it.
Avatar f tn is it walking through body scanner has effect. I am realy worry because this week may I will walk through it for 4 times.
147426 tn?1317265632 I have inadvertently mislead the forum into thinking that the strength of the MRI machine is the only thing that determines quality or the ability to discern tiny lesions. For a long time I thought that this was true. But, in the last year I have been learning that the software and the techniques used are also critically important. I have mentioned this here and there in posts, but have not talked about it with the full forum.
