Mri scan with dye

Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan with dye

mri-scan

Avatar n tn i had mri scan of my brian 3 weeks ago and now want me to have another with the dye injected first . does this mean they have found somehing wrong ?
Avatar f tn However, they told me that this dye is a different type. I had no problems with the dye. I liked the cool cloth on my eyes and music...but it is time consuming and the breathing is an issue, but just try to relax and you will do fine. Trust me I am a very fearful person and I was able to do it, so you can too. Let us know how it goes. Ohhh and ask for a copy of the disk...cool pictures!
Avatar f tn The MRI with contrast provides a clearer image, albeit at some risk due to dye toxicity and adverse reactions to the dye. It's a matter of risk benefit. For most diagnostic purposes an MRI without dye contrast is sufficient, however if your physician suggests such a procedure he has good reason.
Avatar f tn A very acutely dangerous animal, much different from the affects on kidneys. The MRI center will call with questions that must be answered before the scan. I don't know about the dyes between the CT scan and the MRI. But they have know that you had this reaction before you go in the tube.
Avatar n tn It is unusual and there is no reason for the MRI to cause this problem unless you had a dye contrast MRI. This is not an uncommon reaction to iodine contrast medium. It can also happen if you are a diabetic on metformin and take iodine contrast. Request a copy of all hospital records.
Avatar f tn A cardiac MRI is no different than one of any other part of your body except a contrast dye is often used and sometimes a drug is used in conjunction with the dye to make your heart beat harder. The dye will be introduced thru an IV at the appropriatetime during the test. During the time in the tube, you'll hear intermittent hammering as the magnetic coil is energized, kind of like a jackhammer sound. They will either offer you ear plugs or a headset to deaden the noise.
Avatar n tn was your mri scan done with contrast dye injected or not? Because i think thi smakes quite a big difference.
Avatar f tn Hi all. I recently had a back mri scan with the use of contrast dye as I had a discectomy November 2018 . I paid for the scan image on cd but haven’t had the results yet. Obviously I’m not medically trained so have no idea what the images look like however I wondered if anyone know what the few blobs are on a image that are next to the spine? As they came back as a white glow.
Avatar n tn When I got the MRI done they totally missed my vain for the dye and I was just wondering if dye is involved with the MRV. And if it is, is it going to hurt again?
Avatar f tn A dilated blood vessel can be seen on contrast enhanced CT scan. Contrast is a dye injected into the body. This dye accumulates in the brain blood vessels and can be seen on the CT scan. An MRI is a better imaging technique. MRA 9Magnetic resonance Angiography) is still better. Have you considered or ruled out migraine ? Do you have nausea and any other problems ?
Avatar f tn I have a Brain MRI with R/O contrast scheduled and I'm freaking out!! Anyone ever have this done? I've never had an MRI, let alone IV or any contrast. Of course I have anxiety and I'm freaking out about the procedure. What does it feel like? How long do you feel it go through you? Any side effects? Any dangers? How does one know if they are allergic to the contrast? Please help me understand a little better and calm down. Thank you!!!!!!
Avatar m tn Brain MRI WITH contrast and focusing specifically on the inner-ear area. An MRI without contrast might show an acoustic neuroma, but I think that to rule out even a small acoustic neuroma, you need to have it done with contrast. (That is the "gold standard.
Avatar n tn I do question why you are having a CT scan, because an MRI scan with dye contrast is less toxic (the different dye itself is different) and less dangerous), as well as being less dangerous from the standpoint of radiation exposure.
Avatar n tn This new doctor ordered a full MRI from lumbar to cervical. BUT he did not order it with pre and post gadolinium contrast and MPGR like my prior doctor did six years ago. I did not think to ask when I was with the doctor and now I cannot get past his personal assistant who insists that the doctor ordered it the way he wanted it. She said contrast is for seeing scar tissue and since I haven't had surgery there the contrast is not needed.
Avatar n tn But I agree with your radiologist, while you were getting the scan, the doc should have ordered the dye, just for efficiency. If your getting the scan., might as well collect all the information that can be collected. I did read a post from a woman who had a lot of allergies to many substances and her doc did not order the dye, but it made sense.
Avatar n tn I would definitely ask for an ultrasound, blood enzyme test, then MRI if these two tests are inconclusive, a hyda scan and last would be a CT scan. Good Luck I was in your shoes once.
Avatar n tn When having a Hida scan, Do you lay in a machine such as the one of an MRI or what?
Avatar n tn I have had tons of ct scan with dye and a mylogram with dye injected in my spine. No reactions til today. I had to have a Ct scan to rule out pulmonary embolism. As soon as dye went in I had warm feeling like I was suppose too. Then I got burning itching in my neck and face. They ct people were great. They got me out and got bendryl and had MD in there ASAP. Got steriod injection also. I was so scared. They say u can have dye again with precautions..... I dont know.... I dont wanna die.....
Avatar n tn I had a full xrays series a CT SCAN with Barrium and Contrast Dye, two ultrasounds and a HIDA SCAN with radioactive dye with in the last few days. Just drink lots of water to flush the Contrast Dye from the MRI. I usually get a gallon water bottle and drink it after an MRI to make sure I have flushed all the dye from my kidneys. If you are wondering why all the tests because they are checking everything out. Sounds like you have a good Doctor.
4205995 tn?1351169508 Ok thanks just one more thing can a ct scan with dye an a ct scan without dye and a mri with out dye miss a brain tumor
768754 tn?1373918737 I had the MRI with the contrast dye last fall. I was somewhat concerned about dye, but then did my own risk/benefit assessment since they were using it to rule out HCC based on an elevated AFP and needed to know this prior to me starting tx. With me, they did a regular imaging first, then they started the dye and I rested on a cot for a half hour or so for it to "take", then went back into the tube for the second imaging. Bring something to read and warm socks!
Avatar f tn I had a regulary scheduled appointment yesterday with my Internal Medicine Doctor. He asked me if I had ever had a spinal MRI. I told him no and he said I really needed to have one. (he knows my neurological history and has seen my brain MRIs. I had a total spine MRI at 8:00 this morning. The Tech told me that they don't use the dye for this scan unless she sees something. After the scan.
20102661 tn?1490224455 It's started 2 years ago...loss of balance, vision in my left eye went blurry,my left arm and hand are numb, tingling in my left leg ,fatigue and I'm in pain 24/7....Wait times to see a neurologist are crazy here. I've had a CT scan, and 2 separate MRI''s, the last being with dye....
Avatar f tn Hello I have a 4mm micro adenoma the doctors saw the ademoma on the first and second scan with the contrast dye but on the third and fourth scan I wasn't given any dye so the adenoma didn't show. The doctors told me it had disappeared I was told it was a non secreting tumour even though my prolactin level was very high and that's why I went for the scan in the first place.
Avatar m tn The vice versa is true for MRI. MRI can produce images in any plane but CT scan cannot. CT scan uses X-ray imaging whereas MRI uses radio waves and magnets. Radiation exposure is moderate in CT scan and there is no radiation exposure in MRI. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else. Take care!
