Avatar f tn Secere pins and needles on face, hands, feet and numbness down left hand side of body, with lack of power and easily tired have remained in the last 4 years. the initial MRI scan showed a small cyst, but no evidence of MS, LP also carried out, during this time, which was negative. I have taken Amitriptyline to help me sleep, which results in my day time pins, needles etc to be managable.
Avatar f tn Admit to hospital, Neurologist sure it was MS. LP test - clear, MRI scan showed a small insignificant cyst. Improved after 8 weeks. Painful pins and needles on RHS face, numbness & pain down LHS of body, lack of power and easily tired have remained in the last 4 years. Last 3 yrs taken Amitriptyline to aid sleep; day time made more manageable, as rested. Symptoms return severely if not taken.
Avatar f tn It is a medical procedure just as x-ray, CT scan, MRI, bloodwork, etc are medical procedures. Valid medical reasons are required and must be ordered by doc, PA, CRNP.
1545021 tn?1322477485 Hi there. MRI with contrast is required since it provides more detailed images of tissue. It is more sensitive to detect tumors since tumors absorb the contrast agent and glow. Abnormalities would be picked in a non-contrast enhanced scan as well and a contrast scan is done if an abnormality is picked up in a non-contrast scan.
1139187 tn?1355706647 I think she may have used the wrong medical term with MRI. A "thyroid uptake" scan can be something like that.
Avatar f tn Thank you very much Dr.Mathur for your interest and response. I did some tests. I have chronic hematuria (10 years) with no explanation. My WBC are in range 15-20 T. Apparently due to anxiety. Persistent thickening of the left adrenal gland. No history of alcohol or drug abuse. In fact I can't drink a glass of wine. I used to smoke but not anymore. I have history of thyroid enlargement and was prescribed iodine but in Canada Dr. said that I should stop.
Avatar n tn They finally told me the results and basically told me they were unsure to what my issue was. I had an abnormal ECG scan, so I did a CT scan, echo, blood test and MRI test which all came back normal and clear. Today I had my cardiologist appointment and he was thinking i might have ARVD, but MRI came clear so he thinks a loop recorder over 3 years is required. ps. I have undertaken 2 more ECG scans since the abnormal scan at the hospital and they have come back normal.
Avatar m tn I can tell you that I have seen PET scans be too sensitive and over-read findings. The fact that your father had an MRI scan of the areas that 'lit up' on PET scan makes me suspect that the findings on PET scan were artifactual. I encourage you to discuss your concerns further with your father's doctors. I hope this helps.

"central herination of L5-S1 disc with a.bilateral neural foraminal stenosis with bilateral L5 nerve root compression.....can you please tell me in a laymans language what it means.....and is a surgery required immediately and are there any alternative therapies available......thanks and regards.
Avatar n tn Should I have an MRI scan it will set me back a lot of money..... Could something really be wrong> I do not know wat was in my E even if it gave me an MDMA feeling. This is a never ending comedown. THROBBING in my head wont stop... I feel different... not the same. I'm sweating lots and not sure if that the heat or me.... help me someone.... how can I get better? Do I need amino acids or sumthin???
Avatar f tn Some of these symptoms, eg weakness, and I think maybe some urinary symptoms, can be due to lesions in brain OR spinal cord OR both, which may or may not be detected on MRI. Higher strength machine is nice but not required to show all lesions. All my MRIs have been on 1.5T and my last one in particular showed plenty, much to my dismay.
Avatar f tn I have recently had an MRI scan and the report has indicated that I have a L5/S1 circumferential disc bulge whih displaces the exiting L5 nerve roots bilaterally.. On the left this effaces the perineural fate and contacts the L5 nerve root. A neurosurgeon has apparently reviewed my scan and said there is no evidence of this disc bulge without even seeing me and suggested tertherd cord syndrome should be investigated..
Avatar n tn Diagnosis is made with the help of CT scan or MRI. If the cyst is small and asymptomatic, then no treatment is required, your doctor will suggest to repeat the CT scan after 6-12 months to see if it is increasing in size. If it is increasing in size causing pain, fever, frequent urination or if the cyst is filled with dense tissue or calcifications then open surgery is required. Consult a urologist for further assistance. Best.
1493284 tn?1294875712 “This isn‘t dissemination in time,” since it is a single scan, “but it is a marker of dissemination in time,” which, studies have confirmed, “substitute quite nicely for it,” Dr. Lublin said. Together, the new criteria are “simpler to use, but there is no sacrifice in sensitivity and specificity.” Dr. Lublin added that it was still possible to make a diagnosis of MS without an MRI.
Avatar f tn Is it necessary to have more than one MRI scan done. I have only ever had the one scan, 15 yrs ago which was when I was given my official dx, despite having several episodes/relapses since. Initially told I had RRMS now being told I have SPMS with relapses.
Avatar n tn my doctor said i need an mri scan as a result of suffering with many symptoms for many months- he said i will receive a letter. does this mean he will book it for me or refer me? i live in the uk. anyone know anything about this?
Avatar n tn s more in your case as there has been a C3-5 fusion already done. The only thing presently required is MRI scan of the neck. Reason of MRI scan is - 1) To know the bones and disc condition, inside the C-1 to C7 level. 2) To know, what is the present condition, of your fused vertebras. 3) To know, if the arthritis, is causing disc impingement or other issues. Post the MRI scan, we shall know the situation in a better way.
Avatar n tn i had mri scan of my brian 3 weeks ago and now want me to have another with the dye injected first . does this mean they have found somehing wrong ?
Avatar f tn i had an mri scan and was told i had a right A1 segment hypoplastic. what does this mean please?
Avatar f tn m claustrophobic and probably going to have an MRI, not looking forward to it but still I find it a better option compared to a CT scan. By the way, each the MRI and CT scan are somewhat different in their function/purpose, so take that into consideration too. Good luck to you!
Avatar m tn i found a lump back in november which was found to be fine, i then was told i had to have a mammogram which i still havent recieved the results, yesterday i recieved a letter from the hospital telling me that i need to book asap for a mri scan, i have found another small lump in my breast that has grown in the last month, not sure what to think now.
Avatar m tn I just have been diagnosed by Transient Osteoporosis, after MRI scan. Should I take a second opinion? with different doctor, hospital. Symptoms: From over 10 years, I always have had a feeling of little discomfort at left hip, but this feeling only come a few times (maybe 2-3 times) during a year. No treatment was required, not even pain killer was required (NOT SURE IF THIS RELATED TO) to this diagnose.
