Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan quality

mri-scan

Avatar n tn I understand these should be avoided while pregnant, but what if they are medically necessary? Has anyone gotten an MRI or Cat Scan while pregnant? What was the outcome, did it have an affect on your baby? Was it worth it? I have been experiencing agonizing pain in my left shoulder, neck, and arm, that sometimes radiates to my chest, making it hard to breathe. I am having a really hard time sleeping, and even functioning, and my quality of life has gone down because of it.
Avatar f tn It all has become very unnerving- waiting for results, worrying, dealing with claustrophobia in the MRI scan. Very stressful. All have been clear except for this past week. My radiologist is recommending a biopsy after some tissue change in one breast this year. How does one balance being cautious but not living life in fear and anxiety with the constant testing and looking for cancer?
Avatar f tn I need a CT scan unrelated to MS, so I called to make an appointment with a huge chain of imaging centers near here. During the inevitable long wait on hold, I heard over and over their canned ad, including an announcement about a new 3T MRI machine, *open*. I've never heard of this! Have any of you? This is not something I personally would use, because my claustrophobia is very minimal, and I've had many MRIs in closed machines, so I'm used to them.
Avatar f tn hi, I will tell you my experience, maybe it will help you. for 4-5 years I was haveing back pain, lower back, the past 2 years it was so bad I couldn't even put up a christmas tree. I remember sitting in the floor crying, and this past year, whatever the grandkids put on the tree, thats how it stayed. I got an mri which showed protrusion of disk L4-L5 and some minor nerve problems. that is what they said. they gave me the epidural injections and that was a joke.
Avatar f tn I can understand your confusion. Both MRI and CT scan can be used to screen for an aneurysm/dilatation. MRI is a safer option as it does not expose a patient to radiation, but the quality of image is poor as compared to CT scan (which exposes a patient to radiation). In case of doubt, CT scan imaging is done. So, yes, it is possible that a MRI is unable to catch a small aneurysm or gives a false image of an aneurysm/dilatation.
Avatar f tn Also see if you can get a bone scan in the past I had a stress fracture that did not show up on a MRI but did show up on a bone scan. Go with your gut. And by the way when I did find a good surgeon and he did surgery my ligaments were very lax from chronic sprains-- even though the MRI said my ligaments looked normal.
Avatar m tn It makes no difference whether it is closed bore or not. The imaging principle remains the same. It is the contrast agent that enhances the images. While not all MRIs require contrast, it can be very beneficial in certain cases to show certain anatomy more clearly. It improves diagnostic accuracy, especially in cases of certain tumors, blood vessels, inflammation or infection. MRI contrast agents do not contain iodine and rarely cause allergic reactions or other problems.
Avatar f tn It is important that you do not wear any makeup or hairspray, as many of these products have tiny metal particles that could interfere with the scan and reduce the quality of the images. They might cause the area to heat up and, on the rare occasion, burn your skin." https://www.insideradiology.com.au/mri/ Hope that helps......
Avatar f tn the dr that is rxing the MRI should b aware of ur condition and where to send u for the best results.....I recently needed a specialized MRI and my PC located a place nearby capable of taking care of it.
Avatar n tn A hepatologist is definitely someone you will see who will most likely do an MRI scan to get a clearer picture. Once that is done, if that is not a misprint and it is actually 20-22cm then they should remove it or treat it with steroids to shrink its size. Hepatic Hemangioma's are benign growths made up of blood vessels so biopsies are often avoided, but blood tests to test for cancer markers can determine if its nasty or not, in most cases they are not and can be shrunk or removed.
Avatar n tn I had a brain mri scan for recurrent 'auras' thought to be due to migraine. The result of the scan came back normal except for a few spots of plaques. I am 50, is this normal? I am concerned that it is indicative of early degeneration associated with dementia.
Avatar n tn They can however, detect mental illness such as scitzophreneia which i know because i was diagnosed through an MRI. The only mental illness an MRI scan able detect is an actually different brain connections than that of a normal brain. Ive had one done for mental illess! Can you describe some of your symptoms, what you feel and how often yolou feel it? I know your question is based on needing to know where to get a private MRI scan, which i am unsure of!!

763362 tn?1236624790 I have been referred to Physio and had an initial assesment where the consultant said that it looks like Degenerative Disc Disease, he said the only way to determine this better is by having an MRI scan, on going back to my G.P.
