Avatar f tn is an MRI or an ultrasound as accurate as a CT scan in determining if the spot on my liver is a hemangioma and not cancerous? Other than cost, is there a reason I should have a CT scan instead of an MRI? I would rather not have the radiation exposure of a CT scan if an MRI will produce adequate data. Furthermore, should I see a specialist instead of my PCP about this? Thank you!
Avatar f tn I had a MRI performed yesterday. About 2 hours later my doctor called me and told me that I needed to come to see him as soon as possible yesterday afternoon for a biopsy. I went in and my doctor told me that the MRI showed a colored area and that the radiologist was worried, but he asked if I had ever had any c-sections and my doctor told him yes I had. The radiologist then said he felt better about the MRI then. Well anyway, they performed a biopsy of my uterus.
Avatar f tn the follow up scans that were performed to check for any changes were performed at other locations, just curious if this is a good way to track any changes since it was noted that they did want to look again in another few months for changes...the other scan that was performed did not show anything at all that was noted on the first scan...I am not trusting since I have been passed around quite a bit and many things have been missed in diagnosing my problems, just curious.
Avatar f tn An ultrasound is not supposed to be performed "just because". It is a medical procedure just as x-ray, CT scan, MRI, bloodwork, etc are medical procedures. Valid medical reasons are required and must be ordered by doc, PA, CRNP.
Avatar f tn my husband's PET scan report shows SUV=3.9 to 9.7. In PET scan, there is a lymphnode in neck and some in chest. SUV of neck lymphnode is 9.7 and for chest lymphnodes, it is 3.9 to 6.4. Docotrs wanted to do biopsy of this neck lymphnode but it was found difficult to do. He said that there is also possibility of sarcoidosis. In sarcoidosis, may this SUV be too high? My husband has no symptoms of lymphoma. Now what should we do? Doctors suggested to take regular checkup. But I am afraid.

Avatar f tn CT head without contrast is typically performed as an initial quick screening test to rule out acute findings, such as fracture, bleeding, or swelling. It can show tumors if large or causing mass effect on adjacent structures but may miss smaller or more subtle tumors. If high clinical concern for tumor, consider MRI brain with and without contrast. However, different clinical scenarios may require tailored approaches. For more info: https://acsearch.acr.
Avatar n tn They said that his white blood is elevated and his red blood is elevated. Tested everything but MRI. On the cat that died from brain cancer we did both ct and mri. He hasn't eaten in 2 days now.
Avatar f tn I have chronic mesenteric vein thrombosis(it's in the superior mesen. vein) & have monthly trips to the ER for severe abdominal pain. They always want to do a CT scan. I've had 9 scans in the last year & a half , & every doctor says that's way too many, but they want to do " just one more". Last time they did one, 12 hours later they came back & wanted to do another & I told them no way.
Avatar n tn Is an endoscopy the gold standard for a sinus evaluation or could a CT scan or MRI inspect areas that the scope cannot reach? This symptions seem to indicate an infection.
Avatar n tn During this time, I have had countless ultrasounds (last ultrasound was performed in March of this year), 2 CT scans (last CT scan was performed in May of this year) and an MRI (although the MRI was a while back). I also have had an upper endoscopy and a colonoscopy. And, lots of bloodwork. My symptoms include: chronic bloating, twinges of pain near my right ovary, irregular bowel movements, back pain, regular fatigue. I am still very concerned about the prospect of having ovarian cancer.
Avatar n tn As the CT scan report was normal and since there was no MRI scan facility in the hospital the patient was not shifted immediately to another one. The doctor of the hospital to which he was later admitted mentioned about the delay. that is why i felt so. Do you think that the CT scan report which mentioned "brain-stem normal" was correct?
Avatar n tn When i had it out my surgeon told me there was a ton of scar tissue (which never showed on MRI, CT scan or ultrasound) so cant hurt to have the HIDA scan done.

Avatar n tn Then I consulted gastroenterologists and endoscopy was done but everything was normal. CT scan of brain was taken but normal. MRI scan of abdomen and pelvis taken but still it was normal. Blood and urine tests were performed but the results were normal. The problem has now increased severely. People around me can literally feel the stink emanating from my nose. I also think that people can feel the stink even when i'm talking to them over phone or any other communication device.
Avatar n tn I had a brain mri scan for recurrent 'auras' thought to be due to migraine. The result of the scan came back normal except for a few spots of plaques. I am 50, is this normal? I am concerned that it is indicative of early degeneration associated with dementia.
Avatar n tn They can however, detect mental illness such as scitzophreneia which i know because i was diagnosed through an MRI. The only mental illness an MRI scan able detect is an actually different brain connections than that of a normal brain. Ive had one done for mental illess! Can you describe some of your symptoms, what you feel and how often yolou feel it? I know your question is based on needing to know where to get a private MRI scan, which i am unsure of!!
