Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan pancreas

mri-scan

Avatar f tn Three years ago I also had a scan and it said I had mild pancreatitus, but this scan says something about the head of the pancreas. Tonight I am going for an MRI to rule out any lesions. I had some slight bleching last week that is almost gone, my stools seem fine, just the back/tummy pain exists. I have also had some slight fluctiations in my temperature. Anybody elose gone thru this? I'd like to know your story.
Avatar n tn i had a us scan @ hospital and they found a lump 20/28inches in my pancreas what could it be ?
Avatar n tn Put some pressure on him or her to follow up with you health. I personally think that a follow up MRI or CT scan is warranted. Check it out with your physician. Keep me posted.
Avatar m tn I did a CT Scan and MRI in my pancreas and the results were inflamation but my blood test 19-9 came to 133. What does this mean? Cancer or infammation of the pancreas? .
Avatar f tn If the metal you have in your body is not close to the pancreas, they can do a CAT scan, which is radiation like X-rays rather than a magnetic field of MRI, so metal doesn't goof the whole thing up. They can also do a needle biopsy, too, the CAT scan guides the surgeon to the correct place, but the amount of tissue that needle can take is sometimes too small to be sure if the mass is benign, but if it shows up as a cancer, well, they will likely want to do surgery and so forth.
89592 tn?1391274422 i think that you need a good MRI or CT scan as there is a lot of operator-dependency with ultrasonography
Avatar f tn I have had a ct, mri and yesterday a EUS. I was under the impression from my PC Dr. that it "could be cancer" and I had blockages in common bile and pancreatic ducts and they didn't know why. When I spoke with the Gastroenterologist yesterday before the EUS he said he doesn't see anything suspicious in the ct and mri done elsewhere.
Avatar f tn CT scan, MRI, MRCP, EUS and another EUS 6 months later- all 100% clear. Its also important to note that 6 months prior to my ab pain I started to get muscle twitching all over my body, stabbing/burning migratory joint pains (mainly smaller joints) without the inflammation, muscle cramps. I had an EMG and brain scan but nothing was found. All labs for AI diseases clear.
Avatar n tn Well I'm not a doctor but I had a similar comment on a CT scan. SInce the pancreas is so deep in the body, its not always easy to see the whole organ. I was given an MRI of the pancreas in order to make sure all was OK.
Avatar n tn I would definitely ask for an ultrasound, blood enzyme test, then MRI if these two tests are inconclusive, a hyda scan and last would be a CT scan. Good Luck I was in your shoes once.
Avatar f tn Very worried about my friend who is scheduled for an abdominal MRI and also an endoscopy this week. She has had reflux issues for several months, has lost weight over the last six months but has changed her eating habits to very healthy ones plus has upped her exercise regimen. She does feel "full' and a bit nauseous sometimes but not always. Does better with small meals.
Avatar f tn I don't mind the MRI its the cat scan I am scared of
Avatar n tn Its my right ribs and it radiates down and into my back and sometimes my belly. My liver has been tested (blood, MRI and ct scan). Looks fine. Pancreas too. I did have my gallbladder out in 2006. I noticed that when I get an MRI or ct scan done that they state there are surgical clips. Could the the clips cause pain? Also I have a red blotchiness on my tummy. Is it okay?
Avatar n tn I recently went to the ER for severe pain in my left side, they found, following a CT scan, a ~10cm cyst at the tail of my pancreas I believe. They have put in a drain and have sent the fluid away for testing. I am no longer in any pain from the cyst. Here's the info I have, what do you think? - I also had the same pain while heavily pregnant a year ago. It lasted about 3 months and went away suddenly.
Avatar m tn All lesions are suspicious. The follow up Contrasted CT Scan and/or MRI is to see if the lesions is benign. Growth would indicate malignancy. Did the doctor order an AFP [alpha feta protein] lab? This is used as marker for liver cancer.
Avatar f tn How long ago was the ERCP and stents placed? You stated the physician was not able to get the brushings. Are they planning on doing an US guided biopsy of the pancreas to rule out cancer? The itching is from the build up of bile salts related to your occluded ducts/inflammation. Bile salts are produced by the liver. Secondly, I think you probably should be hospitalized until they get your pain controlled, address nutritional issues, etc.
363243 tn?1331033850 It showed no abnormalities, but the radiologist said that viewing of the pancreas was incomplete because the scan was done without contrast. I had a CT scan 4 years ago with contrast and the radiologist mentioned the possible appearance of sludge, but an ultrasound ruled that out. I know no one's a doctor here, but does this sound more like a pancreatic problem than a gallbladder problem? I should mention that I have Hashimoto's and I take hydrocortisone for weak adrenal glands.
Avatar f tn Got urgent appt 2 weeks ago with gastro, prescribed domperidone for nausea, doubled omeprazole.CT scan 6/26 pancreas, liver abdomen, pelvis. Upper GI endoscopy 7/99 July.Appt in clinic for results 7/23. He was quite shocked at my weight loss and general appearance as I have seen him regularly for the past 5 yrs.I had an MRI of my abdomen in Nov 2007, asymptomatic, just general Crohn's monitoring. This showed 2 strictures in my small intestines. No meds or surgery.
Avatar f tn I have had MRCP, colonoscopy, upper GI, CT scan, MRI, gastric emptying scan and they all come back normal. The only thing my doctor said he could complain about is my stomach is emptying faster than most people. My doctor refuses to do anymore amalayse or lipase blood work because he said he knows they will be elevated and there is nothing he can do. I get so sick sometimes that I can not even get off the couch and take care of my one-year old.
Avatar m tn but I still experience bloating issues. since MRI MRCP report and blood work related to pancreas was normal, not sure what could be the reason for the slight elevated amylase/lipase. and if the abdominal bloating/swelling is something related. appreciate if someone can please share views if they have gone through the same.
Avatar m tn Is it normal to have that much bowel gas that the abdominal aorta cannot be seen. I still have pains in my abdomen. Should I ask for a MRI or CT scan to further investigate my pain? I also had a Hida Scan of my gallbladder with the results being 90% ejection fraction rate at 30 minutes, and I am 43 years old. Thanks in advance...
Avatar m tn Hello My dad of 73 years old did a CT scan with Contrast and it showed a mass on the pancreas with 3 lesions on the liver, and radiologist suspected cancer. Biopsy was performed on the liver and results came back yetsreday and they were all clean. Pathology had enough tissue so he assure reslts. It is good news but not clear to us.

1947762 tn?1424554829 My ribs on rt side hurts all the time, my gastrin sirum test are 283 and now 375 it just keeps going up too. the Ct scan showed a pancreas cyst and a sudo cyst too , this man said no , who is telling the truth. the scan or the Dr? Time is one thing thats always tells the truth, it never lies! My mom, her sister ,their mom & my sister craped them selves till death, I do know this for a fact. I don't even eat beef, Ive been eating a lot of smoothies with fruits, it seems to help some.
Avatar n tn I have been having discomfort in my stomach area, especially the right side, and back ache that moves up and down, since January. I have had ultra sound, upper GI, Endoscopy, CT scan, MRI, MRCP. Hida Scan, back xrays, and all the lab work, that includes blood test for pancreas and liver. They did find two side branch lesions about 1 cm each in the pancreas. The radiologist and my pancreatic specialist said they need to be monitored and no real concern at this time.
Avatar f tn It is possible that a small stone, either from the gallbladder or from the pancreas has lodged within the bile duct. Or pancreas itself presses on the bile duct. This would cause colic pain under the right rib. It is HIDA scan, which shows your bile ducts. They inject a contrast substance into your vein, and after a while they monitor (special scan) distribution of this substance in the liver, bile duct and pancreatic duct.
Avatar m tn chest xrays (normal), ekg, cbc, liver and pancreas enzyme blood tests (all normal), upper gi series (showed some thickening of rugal folds), upper endoscopy with biopsy (mild gastritis and gerd, negative on celiac and h pylori), gallbladder ultrasound (normal), ct scan of abdomen and pelvis with contrast (normal), colonoscopy (normal), stool tests for fecal fat (not the 72hr one), parasites and infections (normal) and hida scan with cck (normal).
Avatar m tn Have they done a HIDA scan yet? Also, a MRCP to accompany the standard MRI sequencing might provide some information. Just a couple of ideas.
