Mri scan of wrist

Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan of wrist

mri-scan

Avatar m tn Thank you Kurizu. No I didn't have an MRI scan. I was first sent to a physio who said I would need an MRI scan and an operation, but when I was referred to the consultant, he just got me an Xray. On the report he sent to my GP he mentions impingement symptoms and that my ulna is slightly longer then my radius.
10256164 tn?1408981241 If its not urget then wait in emergencies they do either mri or cat scan I can't remember which again only emergency. Your wrist can wait :) I've to have an ankle removed hoping I don't get appointment until baby is here!
Avatar n tn I know I can't get a real answer without proper diagnosis and I am going to see a recommended Surgeon on Friday. He did my wife's carpal tunnel surgery, with success, so I am hopeful. I have been dealing with Right Wrist pain (right dominant individual) for over a decade. I have had two surgeries for tendon release, with temporary success. I moved about 7 years ago and sought out a new Orthopedic in 2005.
Avatar n tn It may be Lyme disease, Multiple sclerosis or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Please go for a full body scan, MRI of spine, arms and hand and consult a neurologist for complete examination. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
Avatar f tn t know for sure without doing a scope or opening my wrist up. Thus he is in favor of the Wrist Denervation and Styloidectomy. They gave my wrist pain nerve a lidocaine injection to simulate the effect for me to see. They had me test it by squeezing a dynamometer for hand strength. With the lidocaine shot the strength in my affected wrist ended up matching my healthy wrist strength.
Avatar f tn About one year later I was taken for an x-ray, but it turned up negative for broken bones. I have been having sever wrist pain around the left side of my right wrist ever sense. It hurts most when pressure is applied or with over use (such as to much writing which is not good because every day I go to school and spend at least 3 hour straight writing) but a lot of the time it just hurts.
Avatar m tn While hitting a golf shot (Driver), I experienced severe pain on the outside and underside of my left wrist on impact. I was rolling my wrists through impact as is normal but the contact I made was awkward, painful and sounded strange. The wrist is sore and feels like the tendonds have been strained. No sense that a bone has broken but wrist continues to be very tender. I iced it for 48 hrs and have tried to hit balls but the pain is bad. Any advice on treatment?
Avatar m tn The wrist was taped and I also used a splint. after another 4 weeks of this it was still not getting better still painful to flex and weight bear. After this amount of time it was evident that it was more than a simple sprain. I saw a sports doctor who sent me for more X-Rays and a bone scan. The x-rays again confirmed no break but the bone scan had a high uptake on the distal radius. The sports Doc said you need to see a hand specialist and sent me with a note to ER.
Avatar n tn I had a wrist problem about 12 years ago, had every scan known and the surgeon saw nothing.Had my wrist scoped-the Dr. said my wrist looked like the wrist of an 80 year old-he cleaned it out & has been about 90% ever since.Everyone is different with different outcomes. Good luck to you!
Avatar n tn i had a injury when i was abt 10 yrs old. both wrist give me constant sharp pain at times after i over exert my hands. i did a MRI scan, and nerve test on both wrists but doctor says everything is ok. but the problem is gradually increasing every year. my wrist has some crumbling sound of bones when i rotate my wrists, sharp pain, some numbness occasionally in morning and night usually. when pain or numbness occurs i cannot even hold a cup. any form of advice for me is appreciated.
Avatar f tn I was given a wrist brace and dont go back until the end of Feb. I am still having a lot of pain and limited range of motion. I also cant lift anything the least bit heavy with my palm up. You had mentioned such things as a TFCC tear or a disruption in the radial-ulnar joint. I was just wondering if these symptoms suggest some of these things and what would be the next step in diagnosing what is going on when I go back to the Hand surgeon.
Avatar f tn The accuracy of an MRI is primarily a factor of the person administering it, and more so the Doctor interpreting it. It is not common for MRI's to miss anything, that can be seen on one, even with someone who is not an expert in reading them.
Avatar f tn There is apparently good results with this procedure, which is used to treat several types of issues. There is also fusion of the wrist, which I think is avoided for younger, more active patients because it gives very limited mobility. There are certainly more than 1 treatment option out there for you, so at your age, I would take a cautious approach, and get another opinion from someone who has seen and treated Preiser's before.
3498544 tn?1347495291 Two wks later I woke to not being able to move either arm for a whole minute, they felt so heavy, then both forearms from wrists to elbows felt numb, hardly any sensation that it was being squeezed. Had a MRI of both wrists, said Ganglion Cysts. Right wrist 1cm*4mm fluid equivalent signal along volar aspect of distal radius. Left wrist mild fluid in the prestyloid recess, then 1.5cm*1cm area of fluid along the dorsolateral aspect of scaphoid consistent with ganglion or synovial cyst.
Avatar n tn See an orthopedist, and have an MRI or a bone scan, either ine will be definitive for a scaphoid injury that is a month old. Treatment for non-displaced injuries is usually casting for up to twelve weeks. Displace injuries are usually treated surgically. Either way, treatment is best now because it is important to avoid further injury to the tenuous blood supply for the scaphoid.
Avatar n tn I work with a specific massage technique for the treatment of advanced lymphoedema, It is gentle but requires a lot of flexion, extension and abduction of the wrist, also a lot of traction when bandaging the limb after treatment. I developed a chronic pain on my right wrist which was now diagnosed after MRI scan as a hidden scapholunate ganglion cyst. It was said by the specialist that it is not work related but could have been aggravated by my work.
Avatar n tn You may need to have more imaging (x-ray, MRI, ct scan) done to update your injury. How long has it been since you have had any imaging done?
Avatar n tn = On the palmar side of your wrist , there is a small fluid filled cavity. Scaphoid and Triquetrum are the small bones of hand which make the wrist joint with radius and ulna along with other hand bones. So this fluid filled cavity is arising from , nearby your wrist joint.
Avatar f tn I have a healed pelvic fracture from December 2015 but my recent MRI shows more weakening/thinning of the pelvic bone in a different area and he says another fracture may be likely. I do not drink excessively or smoke. I have been vegetarian for 8 years but I take Calcium and vit D supplements daily. Does anyone know why this could happen?
Avatar n tn my 17 yr old daughter had a wrist injury 6 weeks ago - all radiographs are coming up negative for fracture (bone scan showed hot spots and MRI was inconclusive so was referred to have a CT scan - no results for CT received as yet). Originally was diagnosed as possible scaphoid fracture but now as these tests are coming back negative the doctor thinks it is likely just a soft tissue injury and she needs to work through the pain at physio and try harder.
Avatar n tn I got a wrist pain when pushing something with my hand, for example when doing push up. I went for MRI scan and the result was there was moderate strain without overt tear at the dorsal and volar components of the right scapholunate ligament. My doctor also advised me to wear wrist brace. But it has been more than one month that I wear the wrist brace (the injury itself has been more than 3 months), I am wondering how long does it usually take for the ligament to heal?
Avatar n tn This never awakes me in the middle of the night. I also have notice that my left wrist had the same feeling, though could be from my computer job at work. The wrist numbness is only on my palm side in a very small area where the arm meets the hands, by the veins. It’s on and off. Do not know if it is related. DO not have TMJ. I have had a sinus CT scan, fine. I have had a brain MRI, and MRA with the dye, which came out normal.
Avatar n tn They thought I had a TIA but the CT Scan showed nothing so they are sending me to a neurologist for more testing. My question is does the CT Scan always show the CT Scan or does it sometimes not?
Avatar m tn The possibility of a return of the carpal tunnel problem was also suggested by a physiotherapist just a couple of days ago. The lady spent about an hour feeling every part of my wife's right hand and wrist and offered advice that there seemed to be as much or more pain reaction to her inspection of the wrist as there was in the hand bones. Thank you again. I've printed off your message.
571524 tn?1217620204 In May of this year they removed his middle finger, bone and all up to his wrist. Now, here it is end of July and a week ago he started having severe numbness in his entire arm. Phantom pains get worse and he is in severe pain. The numbness will last anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes. Is there a possibility of nerve damage that was caused during surgery? He has seen a military doctor who keeps putting off taking an MRI..he's waiting on a referral...
Avatar f tn They are thern rexrayed. If the xrays are still negative, but the patient still has pain, an MRI or CT scan can be definitive.
