Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan of the neck

mri-scan

Avatar m tn During my 10 day hospital stay the did another CT scan, MRI of the entire spinal column, every possible blood test and a repeat spinal tap. MRI showed that the swelling of the meninges was the same as the first MRI and even across the brain. All other tests came back normal or negative. By this point the Dr's have no idea what it could be or how to treat it. The last test that was done was a biopsy of the meninges.
Avatar f tn There is very little in the mroning and as i begin my households and return from office, the pain increases. I was asked to go through MRI scan. The results say that there is dehydration on all the six discs from c2 to c7. My doctor said there was no problem and i have to go through phesiotherepy. I would like to know what exactly is dehydration in the discs and how can i strengthen my neck. I developed this with the mouse usage and improper posture at workplace.
Avatar f tn m claustrophobic and probably going to have an MRI, not looking forward to it but still I find it a better option compared to a CT scan. By the way, each the MRI and CT scan are somewhat different in their function/purpose, so take that into consideration too. Good luck to you!
Avatar n tn As in does it scan the areas above the neck inside the head below the brain.... Appreciate advice from someone who has done an MRI scan before....
2212869 tn?1339201618 MRI OF THE CERVICAL SPINE COMPARISON: None. INDICATIONS: Cervicalgia. FINDINGS: Sagittal T2, T1 inversion recovery and axial T2 images of the cervical spine were obtained along with localizer images. The examination reveals the craniocervical junction is unremarkable. Medial aspect of the posterior fossa of the brain is normal in appearance. Spinal cord is normal in course, caliber, and signal. Vertebral bodies are normal in height and alignment. There is no edema.
Avatar n tn First of all you need an x-ray of the neck, or scan would be better , most doctors only offer x-rays, its usually the consultants at hospital which will authorise the scans. An x-ray may show up your problem, you may have a vertebrae out, or it could be a trapped nerve, or spondylosis, But whatever it is, i would say x-ray before having anyone try to manipulate it back into place. Dont play with the cervical, go and see your GP before attempting manipulation.
Avatar n tn I was sent for nerve conservation tests because of deadness in some of my fingers, this showed up a problem in my neck. I was told today that the scan show significant changes in my neck, also i was told I have a very narrow canal which I was born with. The ortho said he is now referring me to a nuerologist (consultant) to see if he can offer any treatment. I had a car accident about 15 yrs ago which left me with spinal problems but he said this is not through the accident.
Avatar f tn Pain at the back of head or neck that iIntensifies on movement may be caused by inflammation of the blood vessels of the head or bony changes in the structures of the neck. The cause of pain is unknown but anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants may help provide relief. If it persists, you may need to have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Further tests like x-ray of the neck or T scan may be indicated to determine the cause. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn The possibility of brain tumor seems very less although it can only be ruled out completely by a MRI or CT scan of brain. I suggest you get these done at the earliest.
Avatar m tn No fractures,Bone spurs multilevel neural foraminal narrowing.. Then prescribed low dose valium to help with headaches. It helps. Then the MRI and it says Reversal of lordosis AP diameter is only11mm at C2-3 with moderate narrowing of CFS space around cord and mod. left foramina stenosis. At 3-4 diameter of 11-12 mm small amount of CSF around cord. mild narrowing of foramina At 4-5 mild canal narrowing w/AP diameter of 9mm and mild flattening of cord bilateral foramina narrowing here too.
Avatar n tn I understand these should be avoided while pregnant, but what if they are medically necessary? Has anyone gotten an MRI or Cat Scan while pregnant? What was the outcome, did it have an affect on your baby? Was it worth it? I have been experiencing agonizing pain in my left shoulder, neck, and arm, that sometimes radiates to my chest, making it hard to breathe. I am having a really hard time sleeping, and even functioning, and my quality of life has gone down because of it.
Avatar f tn Xrays do not shwo everything and are not always reliable. The MRI and CT scan can show if it is a muscle, bone, tendon or ligament. Hope this helps.
4163447 tn?1351260845 First of all thank you so much for your reply, I do appreciate it. Secondly, I WAS diagnosed of Cervical Spondylosis and I was told to do the exercises and was also given a number of muscle relaxants and anti-inflammatory drugs, but most unfortunately none of them worked. The exercises did not have an effect, and neither did the drugs.

Avatar f tn I usually take a shower and then lay down with the towel wrapped around my head to keep my neck at a slight angle which eventually lets me fall back asleep.. After the neck pain has finally subsided (when i wake up in the AM the neck pain is usually pretty much gone), i have a dull lurking pain not only in my neck, but now in my head overall. I do neck stretches every day. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?? My doctor has no idea what the reason for such intense pain is. ..
Avatar f tn Anti-biotiocs do not have any effect. All the required tests have been done, at the end he had a PET scan of his whole body. Everything is normal but he still has horrible pain. The reason for this is unknown. HE ALSO HAS CERVICAL SPONDOLISIS. I would really like to know what kind of disease he's facing. If there's a treatment please suggest it.....
Avatar n tn The report read "cyst formation". deep white matter changes around the periventricular region" Final Impression: Bilateral medial and occipital chronic changes with deep white matter changes and volume loss. Is this serious. Thanks a lot.
Avatar f tn I have had a total of 6 MRIs since the operation. The last MRI of my neck showed prominent level II nodes larger on the right side. They show homogeneous contrast enhancement and are no greater than 15mm in diameter along their anterior superior axis.THey were also present on my first cervical Mri but werent on the report. My surgeon says they were there preop. My question to you is, could it be possible it could be an infection? My sed rate on 2 different occasions was 27 and 35.
Avatar n tn She just came back from the ER today and the doctor prescribed her a pill for Vertigo. Let's see if that works. Yes, she has done a MRI of the head and neck already. And they have also checked her blood pressure. There is nothing according to the doctors she has seen.
