Mri scan of the breast

Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan of the breast

mri-scan

Avatar m tn The human body can really be asymmetrical and it is indeed normal for some parts of the body to look different from its counterpart on the other side of the body. If you really want a negative test to rule out breast lesion, then you may talk with your doctor regarding the breast MRI, though it will be really very hard to have the test justified. Regards and God bless.
Avatar n tn Depending upon which part of the spine was included in the MRI, some of the pelvic bones may be in the image. You may benefit from another discussion with your doctor regarding the type of pain you are having as not all pain represents bone pain. You could also call your oncologist’s office and discuss the situation to see if he/she would be able to see you sooner since you are worried.
768754 tn?1373918737 ) My last mammogram required a second set of x-rays as my breast tissue is dense. Since the MRI is more sensitive in detecting early breast cancer (but also known to result in more false positives), I'd think a breast MRI could be useful. I also have had cysts on my uterus and know that an elevated alpha fetoprotein could also be indicative of tumors on the reproductive organs. Would it be crazy to ask my doc if they can scan other areas of my body as well, as long as I'm there?
Avatar f tn t know if they could tell by the biopsy if it had the same characteristics of the cancer in the right breast. My mom has also had uncontrollable shaking in her left arm on occasions. They did a brain MRI and it came out clean. Could this just be stress or should they be checking for spinal mets? Would the PET scan have shown something on spine if it was there? (Scan was from bottom of skull to mid thighs).
Avatar f tn They did a mammogram, ultrasound and mri. The mammo showed 1 lump, which has the characteristics of a lymph node, the ultrasound showed 2 lumps (above the nipple toward the armpit), which also has the characteristics of lymph nodes, then they did the mri, but they gave me no information at all. I see my doctor 6/12. My problem is my Type A persoanlity! I like all my info and then act. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Yes, it should light up all lymph nodes involved. Very different tests here and I'm sorry you couldn't do the MRI. I get a PET scan every year and it's not scary. They put in an IV, inject the radioactive material and leave you to sit perfectly still for an hour. Then they lay you on a table and you go through the machine (not claustrophobic like MRI's). I had a CT done right before my PET. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn When menopause occurs there is a reduction in the amount of hormones that the ovaries produce and this may lessen the size or occurence of cysts. Regards ....
Avatar f tn TI had the Invasive Lobular and the metastatic area was on the right side of my breast (arm pit side) and in the lymph nodes.
395182 tn?1204909299 How many of you have actually heard of Pagets disease of the breast? Until I discovered I had it along with grade three idc and grade 2 dcis.I had never heard of it, Because I didn't associate an itchy nipple (excema type rash) with cancer I left it for a couple of months before going to my GP, resulting in my not having any 'normal' breast tissue. Thankfully it hadn't invaded any nodes.
Avatar f tn In 2016 I had a mastectomy of the left breast for invasive breast cancer. Was never sent to have a pet scan or MRI after either procedure. Did not have the Braca gene and I scored low on the Onco test. Was told my chances of reoccurence was lower than the average woman. Because my chances were so low I didn’t take the femara cause it made me sick. Today I learned I have a mass in the right breast. Was told tissue had been left behind from my first mastectomy in 2008.
Avatar f tn it is sometimes used to improve the visibility of a tumor. Additional breast MRI images are then taken. The entire breast MRI session takes about 45 minutes.
Avatar f tn My recent brain-spine MRI was just over an hour. The power of the unit is important. You can study the types on the net. Most hospitals claim state-of-the-art for all their equipment, leaving patients pretty much in the dark. Even well-known centers can be weak in some areas. If you aren't satisfied with your improvement, learn more and keep looking for better treatment.
Avatar n tn I went to the oncologist and she had me do a CT scan and did some blood work. The CT scan looked good she said except I had some fatty liver tissue. She said there is an 8mm lymph node behind my breast bone and she wants to do another CT scan in 3 months to make sure the lymph node has not grown. I also have to get my implants replaced due to the bilateral rupture.
Avatar n tn 2) Does breast cancer metastasize to the ischial tuberosities? I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer 5 years ago and have been cancer free since treatment.
Avatar n tn I recently had a second MRI of my left shoulder following a car accident this past August. The first MRI showed enlarged axillary lymph nodes. My doctor couldn't feel anything and all my blood work was fine so we just let it go. Well after continuing shoulder pain I just had a second MRI which still showed enlarged lymph nodes. Now my doctor is concerned that I might have breast cancer! I'm only 29years old and otherwise healthy...just a sore shoulder.
17490356 tn?1457283801 There is asymetric perfusion involving the basil ganglia specifically hypoperfusion of the left putamen. Perfusion to the head of the bilateral caudate nuclei appears normal.
Avatar f tn The radiologist of the breast clinic, who performed the biopsies and also a MRI told me that she would not remove anything now because it's benign and want to follow me with a MRI in 4-6 months. She does not see an indication for surgery. My surgeon proposed me a surgery. After he had the opinion of the radiologist, he agreed to wait, but told me that if it progresses, he wants to remove my breast (and even talked to me about removing the two breasts!). They have very different opinions!!..
587083 tn?1327120262 Mammograms are not able to visualise the breast tissue if it is dense as is the case in females less than 40 years of age. Then an ultrasound and MRI is done. You should go ahead with the MRI if your treating physician advises you to do so. Let us know what your doctor advises and also post us if you have any doubts. Regards.
Avatar f tn Went to the doctors got a mamogram that day they did a biopsy. When to the doctors and she said it is breast cancer in my limnode and the right brest and the size is 8 cm. When I went to the cancer doctor he could't give me anything postive or neg. He took blood work and said I had to get pet ct scan and a bone scan. And he wants me to get a port in me. Because I have no veins in my arms. I am so scared, I have 3 childern One 18, The other one just turn 8 and the little boy is 3.
Avatar m tn During my 10 day hospital stay the did another CT scan, MRI of the entire spinal column, every possible blood test and a repeat spinal tap. MRI showed that the swelling of the meninges was the same as the first MRI and even across the brain. All other tests came back normal or negative. By this point the Dr's have no idea what it could be or how to treat it. The last test that was done was a biopsy of the meninges.
1617139 tn?1298659552 I have already put a call into my doctor to have me tested for the BRCA mutation, and to schedule me for a PET scan, plus request a trans-vaginal ultrasound. I can't have an MRI though, since I have hardware in my back that can't be MRI'd. I'll ask and see what he says. I've been given no blood tests, and I'm beginning to worry that I'm not getting thorough care. I am going through the VA, as I am a disabled (now) veteran.
Avatar n tn MRI showed torn biceps tendon and other small bursal tears and tendonitis, and a rotator cuff tear. Would a bone metastases have been revealed on the MRI of my arm and shoulder? Should I ask for a bone scan? I am 57 years old and have been cancer free since a stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis 8 years ago. I am worried that the pain does not go away.
Avatar n tn Hi I attended for my MRI scan of the Breasts the results from this showed Sclerosing Adenosis. There is no further areas of concern and I will be reviewed in 6 Months time. What will the review consist of and with my History do you think they will follow me up for a while.
Avatar n tn At that time, my bone scans and ct scans showed nodules on my lungs and a spot on my spine. The chemo took care of the lungs, but none of my doctors ordered another bone scan. But they sure ordered the PET scans (for my lungs, I smoke). The PETS have always been good. Then this past October, I had severe pain in my back (thoracic). My oncologist ordered plain old xrays and they concluded it was osteoarthritis.
497186 tn?1214852838 If so, tell the nuclear medicine department before your radio scan because the radiation from the CT contrast will inhibit the uptake of the radioactive iodine and give you false readings. It does sound like you are getting some good quality care and much quicker than most do. Let your doctors know of your family history of cancer - especially the breast cancer. Breast cancer, ovarian cancer, thyroid cancer are all "hormone fed" cancers.
