Mri scan of the brain

Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan of the brain

mri-scan

Avatar f tn My recent brain-spine MRI was just over an hour. The power of the unit is important. You can study the types on the net. Most hospitals claim state-of-the-art for all their equipment, leaving patients pretty much in the dark. Even well-known centers can be weak in some areas. If you aren't satisfied with your improvement, learn more and keep looking for better treatment.
Avatar f tn a few tiny scattered foci of hyperintensity involving the cerebral white matter. the aetiology of these is uncertain. i note most of these lesions appear subcortical in nature rather than periventricular and normal brain stem and cerebellum. i am thought to have ms and have ms symptoms but do not understand these results, my doctor has suggested to request more tests." http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn Does it scan the brain only or other parts of the head under the brain?? As in does it scan the areas above the neck inside the head below the brain.... Appreciate advice from someone who has done an MRI scan before....
17490356 tn?1457283801 There is asymetric perfusion involving the basil ganglia specifically hypoperfusion of the left putamen. Perfusion to the head of the bilateral caudate nuclei appears normal.
2699259 tn?1344210945 I finally got an MRI of my brain (that was pure tourcher btw)! Now my appt is 3 weeks away, so here I am looking over the scans and wondering. If there was something 'wrong' I assume it would be obvious? I don't see any gray or white spots or areas or large dark masses. I did see one tiny white spec, but it doesn't show on all the scans and one vein thats very squiggly looking, other then that it seems normal to me (comparing pictures of a normal scan). Any thoughts on this?
Avatar f tn Hi fellow Ozzie, welcome to our little MS community, Please keep in mind that we are lay people, not professionally trained in reading MRI's, opinions are generally from personal experience, acquired knowledge and interest, my two cents......
Avatar m tn Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum, Not all radiologists will report on something they were not asked to look for, in my case they did....I was sent to rule out lymes, and MS when the radiologist saw my Chiari....and they stopped and called my Dr and scheduled more MRI's for the next day. That does not always happen and we suggest everyone having testing and MRI's to request copies of the test and the reports this way u have it and can easily get other opinions.
Avatar n tn I indeed have suffered from auras and migraine and now feel a lot less worried about the presence of plaques on the mri scan of my brain. Thank you for being very helpful.
Avatar f tn Headaches after a brain injury can also be due to concussion, and normally CT and MRI are normal. However, yes, MRI should be done to rule out brain injury as the cause. Stress due to concussion and brain injury can also be the cause. Also get your blood pressure checked. Take care!
Avatar f tn This headache could be due to raised intracranial pressure and lowering of temporal lobes on MRI due to brain herniation, which is a consequence of very high intracranial pressure. Herniation could result from many factors causing mass effect and increase intracranial pressure including traumatic brain injury, stroke and brain tumor. You need to consult a neurologist immediately with this concern, as this can be fatal. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar f tn The Neuro said my last MRI was the weirdest and unusual MRI of the brain that she had ever seen. The report said something about Vertebral Basilar Insufficiency and something about an enlarged vessel or something. My brainstem has moderate damage (Chronic Gliosis) and it didn't sound like it was damaged from the MS. Only one MS lesion was present in the right temporal lobe and it hasn't changed in the last 5 years. Nothing new going on with me other than this.
Avatar n tn The possibility of brain tumor seems very less although it can only be ruled out completely by a MRI or CT scan of brain. I suggest you get these done at the earliest.
Avatar f tn I had a cat scan and blood test that showed a lesion on my brain. My doctor the had me get an MRI brain scan which his nurse said came back normal. Then why do I still feel like my brain has been scrambled ,and I just don't feel good overall?
Avatar m tn Here is another 2 MRI view of the Brain and upper neck taken http://postimg.org/image/6dnfktv45/ http://postimg.
Avatar m tn Hi I had a MR scan of my brain a couple of weeks ago as I had vertigo’s episodes some times . According to my doctor the MR results shows some unspecified gliosis. He said this is not a major problem, as it can be associated to some sleeping disorders and nothing with the vertigo. Do you agree with this opinion or I should check with a neurologist?
Avatar f tn A CT scan and MRI are pretty much the tests that will find a tumor- if you've had 3 scans that have been normal I would think everything is okay.
Avatar f tn Five years ago I was treated for optic neuritis, but was told to have a wait and see before a final diagnosis of MS. I tolerated the symptoms until the last year and the have gotten worse, again The MRI scans I have show no brain lesions. Again I get lets wait and see. I am getting to old and to tired of these answers, can someone please tell me what my next step should be?
Avatar n tn on the white matter of her brain and suggested we follow up with an MRI. The MRI was performed this morning with the results being the same...... The largest of the "spots" was about 2cm and the others were smaller. Our familty doctor mentioned that due to the location of the "spots", they are not typically located in the areas that my wife has them, and of course didn't seem to alarmed of what had been found.
Avatar m tn During my 10 day hospital stay the did another CT scan, MRI of the entire spinal column, every possible blood test and a repeat spinal tap. MRI showed that the swelling of the meninges was the same as the first MRI and even across the brain. All other tests came back normal or negative. By this point the Dr's have no idea what it could be or how to treat it. The last test that was done was a biopsy of the meninges.
Avatar n tn What do the results of MRI mean?Impression: there are a few nonspecific foci of T2 prolongation in the subcortcal white matter in the left frontal and parietal lobes. The differential includes demyelination, sequels of chronic small vessel ischemic change, vasculitis and lime disease.
Avatar m tn m looking into include food intolerences, b12, lyme disease, metal toxicity and chronic anxiety/stress. Also getting an MRI of the rest of my spine as I have only done the head and neck. Let me know if you find out any more info.
