mri-scan

Avatar n tn I have heard that most bone metastasis from breast cancer are osteolytic and might not show up well on a bone scan. Is this true? I have been having pain in my pelvis and my family doctor ordered an MRI of my lower spine which was normal, but told me that an MRI of my pelvis was overkill. The pain has has not gone away and I cannot get in to see my oncologist for another month. I feel like I have "cried wolf" so many times with aches and pains that the doctors brush me off now.

Avatar n tn Is this true? Is an MRI of the brain good enough, or do I need an MRI of the skull? also, would an MRI of the cervical spine show if the brain goes into the cerbellum?
Avatar f tn Hi, Had you had an MRI or CAT scan, as these are the tests that will show up any problems with your back. You need your doctor to find out what is wrong so it can be treated. Chronic back pain is hell, I suffer badly myself. Finding out what is wrong and if something can be done is your number one right now. It is the only way you will know what's wrong and how to treat it. I hope they get a scan sorted for you soon. Keep posting.
Avatar n tn m getting the same run around on my spine cyst that i had on my kidney ..my last mri showed the spine cyst has grown about i cm in the last year it is now 2.6x1.6x1.6 there is scalloping and enlargmentof the spinal canal also nerve root compromise cannot be excluded. Would you think my back pain could be caused by this cyst also with the history of cancer do you think it could also contain cancer cells as my kidney cyst showed no signs until it was removed, tested..

Avatar f tn I have just had my appt through for a MRI with contrast of the head and spine. I am feeling very anxious as I am very clausaphobic and will be in the scanner for about an hour. If I get sedated my appt will be longer. How small is the tube?
Avatar m tn He gave his diagnosis and then I had a MRI scan. I was young at the time so didn’t really see the seriousness of it and my parents couldn’t afford a follow up scan. I took medication (cataflam mostly for the pain if it was serious) and I stopped Ballet lessons and then stopped basketball as well. The problems with my back stopped then and has been ok for the past few years. Now however, it has started up again and won’t seem to go away even with rest and cataflam.
Avatar m tn At 3-4 the canal Diameter is11-12mm w/small amount of CSF around the cord. At 4-5AP diameter of 9mm and mild flattening of the cord. At 5-6 canal is only 10 mm with only a trace of CSF anterior to the cord and none to the posterior. At 6-7thereis mild central narrowing of the canal and Diameter is 11 mm. I get a crunchy type sound when I move my head/neck in any direction. I was having unbearable headaches until prescribed2.5mg Valium twice daily.
Avatar f tn Hello, I suggest seeing your GP, he/she will probably order either a CT scan or MRI to determine what is going on and then prescribe the correct treatments.
Avatar m tn I do have a copy of my MRI. I also had a CT scan done, both of which I have copies of (the CT scan was because the drs thought I had a blocked sinus cavity). I have yet to have any type of scan of my spine though, just brain.
Avatar f tn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_resonance_imaging The above link tells you pretty much everything you didn't want to know about MRIs. I had a brain MRI one time, I had to be sedated because I was afraid of it, they even have a little mirror in there so you can see out of it, sort of claustrophobic in the machine, and they had a microphone and radio in there so I could talk to the techs. When the machine started up, it was VERY loud, surprised me, kind of made a bumping racket.
Avatar f tn The spine is made up of segments of bone or vertebrae, which are divided by cushioning disks, which the disks keep the bones separated and allow for easy movement. On an X-ray or scan, the bone is round and more solid in color and larger, and then comes the smaller, less solid-appearing round disks. It's sort of like cartilage in a bone joint, it keeps the bones from rubbing against each other.
Avatar f tn I had my MRI results sent to me first too also a bone scan result. The doctor wrote a couple of days later.
