Avatar n tn I have heard that most bone metastasis from breast cancer are osteolytic and might not show up well on a bone scan. Is this true? I have been having pain in my pelvis and my family doctor ordered an MRI of my lower spine which was normal, but told me that an MRI of my pelvis was overkill. The pain has has not gone away and I cannot get in to see my oncologist for another month. I feel like I have "cried wolf" so many times with aches and pains that the doctors brush me off now.
Avatar f tn Even when scanning a pelvis, we refer to it as a bony pelvis or female pelvis depending on the history of the patient. Of course, there could be an incidental finding that would require additional imaging. However, for MRI to look at your pelvic floor strength you would need what is referred to as a functional MRI. Most often this would be MRI defecography exam.
Avatar f tn Went to neurosurgeon who told me to come back in 4weeks and if pain is still there he will send me to a pain specialist. I had x rays of pelvis but not CT scan or MRI. My whole back is hurting now. From mid back down it feels as if everything is being pulled to the left. Pain is now affecting my left clavicle. Its been 4 weeks since the accident.
Avatar f tn I have a healed pelvic fracture from December 2015 but my recent MRI shows more weakening/thinning of the pelvic bone in a different area and he says another fracture may be likely. I do not drink excessively or smoke. I have been vegetarian for 8 years but I take Calcium and vit D supplements daily. Does anyone know why this could happen?
7015927 tn?1387078560 incidental finding in the right pelvis shows a moderate amount of free fluid. the tip of the conus is seen at the L1-L2 level and appears normal. L3-L4 shows some broad based buldge or protrusion causing some deformity of the anterior portion of the thecal sac. but no canal or foraminal stenosis. L4-L5 shows posterior element thickening causing mild canal narrowing but no neural forminal stenosis .
Avatar m tn s age is ( unfortunately ) often a sign of uterine cancer. They may be performing the MRI scan to see if there is any spread of cancer outside of the uterus, for example, to the lymph nodes in the pelvis. Sometimes the extent of the disease can determine what type of therapy is best--for example--radiation therapy instead of surgery. I don't mean to worry you unnecessarily, but I do think you should prepare yourself and your mom for this possibility. Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn Good luck. We can help many more people with these problems now than say 10 years ago.
Avatar f tn From experience I would be asking for an MRI of the abdomen/pelvis which should be read by a Radiologist that specializes in GYN/ONC they can be pretty precise. My wife went to a radiology practice that does all types of MRI's and the Radiologist read her MRI as a fibroid. I then took her to Sloan Kettering in NYC to see a GYN/ONC surgeon Dr Carol Brown who had the MRI repeated by a GYN/ONC Radiologist who called her DX to the tee which was confirmed after surgery.
Avatar m tn The reason I asked is that they don’t typically require follow up imaging for HCV treatment unless the patient relapses, or if late stage disease is present; in that case, ongoing monitoring for HCC (liver cancer) is often recommended. I’d go with the scan, as JD suggested; the benefits generally outweigh any risks.
Avatar f tn I am sorry you have to go threw this it is very stressfull to have this hanging over your head. Keep in mind most cysts are benign!! Since your transvaginal sonogram(TV) showed a complex cysts on your ovaries warrants a very thourough work up to rule out any other potential issues. My wife was recently Dx with granulosa Cell cancer( GCT) Jan 2010 and I know what it feels like to not know what the next step is. Here is a quick overview.
Avatar m tn I can lie on my left side as long as I have a pillow between my legs, and even then I need to move my legs every few seconds/minutes (depending on the severity of the pain). I have had CT scan of back, MRI of back, xrays of hip, knee, foot, ultrasound of groin.. all came back normal. This started when I was masturbating and felt a dull pain in my right groin.
Avatar f tn I am a 58 year old female and a recent MRI indicated Bone marrow signal is diffusely heterogenous specifically in my spine and pelvis. Could this finding be due to osteoporosis ? My recent blood values are all within the normal range. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis 12 years ago and 2 years ago my DEXA scan results showed a T score in lumbar spine as -3.6.
Avatar f tn I had a bone scan of my entire body and a CAT scan of my cervical, lumbar, thoracic and pelvis. All areas have multiple lesions. My pelvis had 8 alone. No bulging disks or tethered cords. MRI of brain was fine. Complete spine and pelvis was fine other than lesions. Physician said its not a yeast infection. She origionally diagnosed it as bacterial vaginosis but is stumped why the meds are not treating it. I have taken Flagyl and Cleocin and the antibiotic for this.
Avatar f tn My mum started noticing her lower pelvis was bloating early August. Her periods are regular and thicker than normal. Went to Gp and was referred to have scans and bloods within a week. She had bloods, came back abnormal. Waiting to have scan follow week and my mum felt jolting pain in pelvis and she collapsed. I rang ambulance and she was admitted for 3 days in Qa hospital. She had 2x CA125s one was 100 and second one even higher (wasn't told result) Ct scan showed mass on ovary of 8cm.
Avatar n tn He is currently scheduled for a CT of the abdomen and pelvis. Would an MRI be better imaging? Please help. What does this mean?
Avatar n tn Back is usually very sore by the end of the day. Neuro wants to do another brand and C spine MRI....Its quite depressing that no diagnosis can be made....what could be causing this? I've seen urologist, neurosurgeon and neurologist in addition to my PCP.........who's left to see?
Avatar n tn t do a PET scan in conjunction with the MRI, the PET scan gives a full three dimensional view of an organ and the location of cancer within that organ. This website is good for explaining about the PET scan. http://www.wvm.petctmobile.com/zportal/portals/pat/ You should also post this question on the doctors forum, they could steer you in the right direction. Have you had a red blood cell count done?, my mother found out she had ovarian cancer when she became anaemic/low red blood cell count.
Avatar m tn For past few years every month a time comes when i suffer from inappetance, nausea followed by breast tenderness and swollen lymph node around my breast, subscapula and right inguinal area. Finally there is a dull pain in area just above right side of my pelvis , frequent urination and a thick mucus discharge comes out of my genitalia in large volume with some abdominal discomfort. Its like pseudopregnancy except for that im a virgin. I happend to run so many test like ultrasound and fnac etc.
Avatar f tn Hello~Very generally speaking, fluid in the pelvis on an MRI scan is a very nonspecific finding. Anything that causes inflammation of the organs in the pelvis can be associated with fluid there. For example, endometriosis, in which tissue from the uterus escapes into the abdominal cavity, could cause this. They probably thought it was a little unusual because ladies of our age (I am 60) usually don't have endometriosis.
Avatar n tn I recently had a CT scan of my pelvis and abdomen due to unexplained swelling of my left leg and foot. Here are my results. I could really use some answers. Here are the areas of concern. Everything else was fine. **Liver appears normal in size and contour. Prominence of intrahepatic ductal system is visualized of unknown etiology. **Heterogeneous enhancing left adrenal mass measuring 1.7 x 2.7cm is identified. **A 2.8 x 3.4cm cystic lesion visualized in the left adnexa.
Avatar n tn I had an injury in my abdominal area under the rib in which It felt like the area underneath it was poked. I was thinking muscles or ligaments or possibly organs were hurt. It felt like liquid was seeping from it internally. The whole abdominal/pelvic area hurt. I had a CT of abdomen and pelvis which came back normal. Ultrasound of abdomen was normal as well. But I'm afraid those tests just show organs, not muscle/ligament or tissue damage.
Avatar m tn the CT findings of HCC are often quite typical on CT scan. An MRI with Eovist can also be done. the size of the lesions would qualify for priority on a liver transplant list so I think getting referred to one of the VA transplant centers is important to do ASAP. You do not lose anything by being referred. Find out what your AFP level is. its very easy to miss these lesions with biopsies, which we rarely have to resort to.
Avatar f tn On Jan 7,2010 i was in a very traumatic car wreck, broke my pelvis on left side near hip bone, the doctor said the way it fractured was rare & unusual, since the pelvis usually cracks in 2-3 places, but it fractured in one place,i also fractured my tailbone & my c7 of the neck bone was fractured.I bruised my kidney & spleen,& torn a small slit in my liver.
