Mri scan of lipoma

Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan of lipoma

mri-scan

Avatar f tn Several months ago I had a CT Scan of my brain, due to having bumped my head. All was fine upon review of the scan as far as that was concerned. However they located a VERY small lipoma within the the Pineal Recess area. The lipoma is only 2 mm, so very tiny at this point. I would not have known it was there if not for the other incident. Lipomas are fatty growths, not cancer, benign( thank god ). They can grow, not grow, very slowly if they do.
Avatar f tn be diagnosed via ultrasound or CT scan... the reason I say usually is because I just had a Lipoma that was misdiagnosed as a hernia. It showed up as a bulge right beside my navel. An ultrasound failed to indicate what it was, so a CT scan was recommended. Even that was "hazy" since the bulge didn't correlate with either a hernia or a Lipoma; it only indicated that the bulge was not a solid mass so most likely not cancer.
Avatar m tn My blood work, cT scan, and carotid artery ultrasound are all normal. I had an MRI the other day- not contrast. The results appear to be normal except for " Incidental note is amde of an extra-axial appox. 3 mm T1 hyperintense focus in the posterior left occipital region consistant with lipoma". What does that mean and where do I go from here.
Avatar n tn A friend of mine got an MRI done today... showed a 1-inch lesion. They suspect an intraosseous lipoma lesion at the anterior of clivus in the left IAC (Internal Auditory Canal?)... he will be getting an CAT scan for confirmation. He has been getting dizzy on and off for the last 6 months and finally went to get a check-up. EENT thought, it was a viral infection of the his inner ear. (Olive leaf extract had helped him get rid of the dizziness, how did this help his vertigo?
Avatar f tn Without the ability to examine you and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the best strategy of management of your lipoma is. However I will try to provide you with some useful information. The spinal cord is lined with a tissue called dura (and some other tissues) and is contained within a column of bones called the spinal column.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had an MRI about 18m ago for right SIJ pain and what turned out to be neurogenic claudication - it showed severe lateral recess stenosis at l5/s1 but also a small intraosseous lipoma on the sacral side of my right SIJ joint. No one seemed bothered about it and there's no follow up (i had an epidural steroid injection for the nerve root with good effect).
Avatar f tn I have a painful growth on the front of my knee. In 2012 I had a lipoma removed from the area. Within 2-3 years a new type of lump developed that was very different. It’s jelly like to the touch, very soft and painful to press on and it jiggles when I walk/run. It hurts worse at night and causes pain with some activity. I have a hard lump just beside it that feels like a knob on my bone. I’ve had an MRI and an Ultrasound on the area and the doctors state they do not see anything on the scans.
Avatar f tn t wait another 6 weeks for us to find out what this is (and that seems to be how long it takes to get an MRI/CT scan/or Ultrasound down here - had to have an MRI of my neck and it was ordered the end of December yet I just had it done March 14th because that was the earliest they could get me in!
3649884 tn?1347843742 After several months and tests, an Orthopedic Surgeon looked at my MRI and said that it looked like a lipoma (possibly pushing on my nerves, that is what is causing me the pain), and I needed a plastic surgeon to remove it. I am morbidly obese, and I assumed that this was the reason it was difficult for my GP to find a plastic surgeon to see me. I am in constant pain and treating it with a variety of pain killers. I am currently on Percosets.
4338916 tn?1353028729 i really think u need to demand a ct scan or mri scan and see what the results show up then take it from there . i cant say what the lump is but you need to really get it checked .
1595158 tn?1297709493 One was just above the incision (back of head, center) and was seen using a mirror it was the size of a quarter...they took snips of that and lipoma and sent it to pathology and waited for results before closing me...because they weren't sure if they were cancer or not since nothing was shown on prior MRI's...they were found to be congenital. Why wouldn't they show up on MRI's?? and my question is....is it possible for the lipoma to grow back??
Avatar n tn They need a CT scan or MRI. I hope it is benign. It is possible it is a lipoma (benign fatty lump) that is putting pressure on a sensitive area. I hope that is all it is but you need to see a doctor right away.
4649534 tn?1357626382 So, all I can do is tell yot the two kinds of benig tumors I think the young lady, both visible on an MRI, which are either LIPOMA or FIBROUS sort of tumor that gets caught up in the nerves.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern. For persistent headaches, possibilities like migrainous, cluster, tension and refractive errors that need to be evaluated thoroughly with the help of a neurologist here.
Avatar n tn The doctor who ordered that MRI stated it was a chest wall lipoma and sent me to a general surgeon who does some thoracic. He thought it was a chest wall change from the thoracic scoliosis in my spine. So I went to a spine orthopedic doctor who told me that he thought it was the rib cartilage sticking up beneath my skin. after this X-ray was taken the doctor who ordered the MRI said he thought there was a mass there.
Avatar m tn me too, only to the right. a recent ct scan of my spine showed an 8th rib fracture. not acute but it feels bad now. sounds like you need an xray or ct.
Avatar n tn The lump in your abdomen may be attributed to hernia, hematoma, lymph nodes, lipoma or collection of fatty tissue under the skin and even tumor of the skin or muscles. For proper diagnosis, it is important that direct clinical examiantion and diagnostic tests be done. Imaging studies such as CT scan or MRI may also help. Take care and do keep us posted.
685806 tn?1226957900 It too was surrounded by blood and classified as agiolipoma (which means a lipoma with alot of blood vessels) and had alot of connective tissue. Now, some people only develop one or two. On the other hand others, like myself that to date, have had over 83 lipoma removed, I stopped having them removed because 2-3 regrow in place of them. Not to say that this can or will happen to you. As previously stated, you may only have those two and that will be it!
Avatar f tn Constant dry mouth/throat. My primary care physician ordered a CT Scan. Those results prompted an MRI. The MRI indicated an adrenal lesion 19 millimeters in size. The test also revealed a renal anuerysm 3.2 centimeters in size. I was told nothing would be done with the anuerysm until it reached 5 centimeters. I had the MRI on 02/05/14. My doctor has ordered another MRI in 4 months. I was told that the lesion didn't appear to be cancerous.
568185 tn?1216754031 If it is a lipoma you can have one of two types, a regular lipoma subcutaneous (under the skin) or a lipoma that has grown into the nerves or tissues containing nerves. and is called a fibroma. As expected the Fibroma is more of a serious problem because it has to be seperated from the nerve tract as the simple lipoma is not attached to the nerve but does impinge and crush on nerves in close proximity to the lipoma.
Avatar f tn If this doctor is not listening, then consult another. At least a CT scan or a MRI of the lump should be done. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn My daughter is 18 years old and recently had a MRI of her right thigh. The MRI showed that she has a large right thigh lipoma. When we spoke to the orthopedist he stated that nothing could be done because the lipoma is intertwined in muscle. We had mentioned to the orthopedist that she has numbnes in her toes. Not to mention it is very hard for her to put on jeans or pants on that leg, due to the size of the tigh the Jean leg on the right is much tighter then the left.
502693 tn?1249151446 I went back to the hospital to day for my ultrasound scan for this large lump on my neck, the lady who took the ultrasound said she could not see anythin and that i might need further tests done such as an mri scan, I wonder what this could be, could it be curvture of the spine a dowagers hump does that show up on an ultrasound?
Avatar n tn this could be a lipoma, ganglion, fibroma, or other cyst. i would have this aspirated and sent to pathology to make sure it is benign. sometimes, an MRI can also help evaluate the contents of the cyst and evaluate for invasion into the surrounding tissue. then, go from there as to wether or not it needs to be removed.
Avatar f tn My daughter was born premature and her doctors were concerned about her head circumference. They ordered a sedated CT scan to determine if she had premature bone fusing or any brain calcifications. She did not but they found a 4mm lesion in the left ventricle of her brain. They're calling it a "Lipoma". What is this? They have ordered a sedated MRI to get a better image of the tumor. Has anybody else had this experience and what was the outcome?
Avatar f tn Well, you can't do much but wait for the MRI scan. Also be very careful that you don't get so lightheaded that you fall and hit your head. How is your breathing when you breathe deep?
