Mri scan of labral tear

Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan of labral tear

mri-scan

Avatar f tn If you are having second MRI, surely the first one showed something. I dont know what the symptoms of a Labral Tear is, but if it is a tear, it will show up on the MRI. Make sure the radiologist takes more than 5 minutes to read all 36 images.
Avatar m tn I just got back from seeing my orthopedic surgeon, and he said that there are not that many differences between the symptoms of a hip labral tear and a hip flexor strain, and only a MRI is definitive. Because an MRI is expensive, I would like to make sure this is true. I originally hurt my hip flexor from reaching for a ball while lifting my leg in soccer in early May 08.
Avatar n tn I have had a catscan which showed some back problems but pointed to the hip as the possible cause of pain. The MRI of my hip showed mild arthritis and some deterioration of the labrum. After lots of research I strongly suspect I may have a labral tear.
Avatar n tn Hello dbvf, The other name is Acetabular Labral Tear. Labral tears frequently take place in the front and top segments of the labrum. Hip labral (labrum) tear is a medical condition within the hip where a sort of cartilage takes place. Injury is a damage caused by an outsidepressure/factor/source to a specific body part. All do all otherinjuries, hip labral tear injury causes a mild to severe pain withinthe hip area. Hip labral tear (acetabular labral tear ) are more common among women.
Avatar m tn Ya that's not alot of fun is it? I have had a labral tear since Dec 2006, and the biceps tendon sheath is torn as well. It's been dislocated fully 19 more times since then. I am currently waiting for the appointment with the 4th surgeon, which is not till May. I think full recovery will be impossible at this point. Hope you get it fixed up soon. Did they put the die in your arm for the MRI? That shows the tear better, if there is one.
Avatar m tn In this syndrome, the rotator cuff and labrum are pinched together in the back of the shoulder, but you are lucky you have a posterior labral tear but your rotator cuff is intact. The treatment of a torn labrum depends on the type of tear that has occurred, yours it is posterior. Most labral tears do not require surgery; however, in patients who have persistent symptoms despite more conservative treatments, surgery may be necessary.
Avatar m tn I started having classic symptoms (groin pain, clicking, giving way, etc) back in August 2014 and had MRI w/Contrast. MRI report was negative (specifically no evidence of labral tear, rest unremarkable) and 2 different Orthos brushed me off saying the MRI report is negative so nothing they can do. One actually did a hip injection and said if this doesn't work it is defiantly not the hip (it didn't work).
Avatar f tn The doctors were completely wrong because out of all of them 1 said hmmm maybe we should get you an mri. It came back and I had stress fractures. There are so many things it could be because I was misdiagnosed about 15 times before the mri. Good luck and I hope you feel better.
Avatar f tn There is loss of the normal concavity at the superior and anterior femoral head neck junction, but there is no dysplastic hump. There is an undisplaced labral tear at the labral acetabular interface in the posterior superior quadrant between 11 o'clock and 9 o'clock locations. The remainder of the labrum is intact. There is marrow edema in the superior and lateral aspect of the femoral head.
Avatar f tn Hello Jacki - Are there any other findings on your MRI? (such as a rotator cuff tear?) Have you had improvement of your range of motion or the severity of your symptoms (for example, after the cortisone injections)? Have you seen a surgeon yet? What are they recommending for you? Based on the MRI findings that you describe, conservative management (physical therapy - range of motion + strengthening exercises) will likely be the best solution. ~•~ Dr.
Avatar f tn 1. Suggestion of a recurrent anterosuperior labral tear, of indeterminate significance in relation to the patient's pain. 2. Mild hip synovitis. 3. No demonstrated fracture or other bone lesion. 4. Mild anterosuperior acetabular chondral thinning without demonstrated progression.
Avatar m tn Also the MRI said, "There is a "Redemonstrated" posterior superior labral tear? Does that mean the tear has come back?
Avatar m tn My son has posterior labral tear. It primarily involves the postereosuperior quadrant. What do you think is necessary to fix it. Surgery? Rehab? No Rotator tear. Nine O'clock position This discussion is related to MRI results for my shoulder MRI.
Avatar n tn During the surgery, however, they discovered there WAS NO labral tear, but the area where the tear should have been had an area of cartilage that was calloused much thicker than normally, and was very bruised and "squishy." My iliopsoas tendon was also lengthened during surgery. By April of 2009, I was absolutely no better off than I was before surgery.
Avatar n tn Probable labral tear. No complete detachment. Impression: 1. Heterogeneous marrow signal, indeterminate. Edema and concavity greater tuberosity, perhaps impaction injury. Correlate with history and symptomatology. 2. Joint effusion, inferior intra-articular body and probable labral tear. Osseous glenoid not well assessed. 3. Supraspinatus split tear. Infraspinatus and subscapularis tendinosis or partial intrasubstance tear.
Avatar n tn Thank you so much! The description of the labral tear symptoms matches a lot of what I'm feeling, but my MRI didn't mention the labrum? My old PT's theory was that everything started with my pinched nerve years ago, and everything else has been secondary to that. I've done PT, I'm icing my shoulder and wrist when I can, I was taking NSAIDs at pretty high dosages for six months. My right shoulder, wrist, and fingers just constantly burn and ache.
Avatar f tn MRI of hip shows benign appearing single cyst about 8mm in size of the the femoral head, no evidence of labral tear, fracture and no specific findings of avascular nevrosis, recommend bone scan. Wondering what the cause of the cyst might be and could it have been there for years without detection? What can be done to relieve the pain?
Avatar n tn What kind of pain are you experiencing? This might sound odd, but you might want to see an orthopedist to see if you have a labral tear in your left hip. You said you're a runner and the impact can cause your labrum to tear. I don't know that the tear would explain your stomach issues, but the pelvic pain radiating to your back sounds similar to what I've experienced and I had a labral tear.
Avatar n tn I am 65,, and finally was diagnosed with Hip Labru tear.. He said from my xrays 2 years ago, that I have no arthritis, and great bones,, and he was treating me for Bursisits,, I had an MRI, and I was there while he was looking at the images,, and he said,, I see nothing... I later was reading the report from the Radiologist,, and spotted, Hip Labrum Tear,, and tell him,, and he now tells me that the only way to get relief is Hip Surgery...
649905 tn?1223940508 With all the research that I have tried to do on my own, I have not thought of the possiblility of a labral tear. So I will try to find more information about that. Also, I still suspect that the throbbing is caused from a hernia. As with your experience, I have read about many cases where inguinal hernias have been overlooked. Since the ultrasound showed nothing abnormal, I'm not sure if any further tests will show anything either.
Avatar f tn Had a hip labral debridement/repair, bone spur removed. 14 weeks still having severe groin pain. MRI report reads re-tear of labrum. Dr. says it's a post surgical appearance. Ultrasound injection of steroid for pain. Radiologists report states re-tear. Dr. says no. How could such a strange thing happen when the pain is the same? How would one know if it was actually a re-tear?
Avatar n tn The labrum helps to support the hip joint. When a labral tear of the hip occurs, a piece of this tissue can become pinched in the joint causing pain and catching sensations. This surgery can be accompalished by arthroscopy. The benefit of hip arthroscopy is that the recovery is much simpler. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Thank you advance for any advice. I have had this problem for months and have been treated in a variety of ways with no relief. The left side of my hip locks several times a day. I don't experience pain while walking, but if I have been sitting, squatting, or bending at the waist, and then stand, the entire joint just locks right up. I end up literally suspended for about 10 seconds until the joint releases. This has been happening for about 6 months.
