Avatar f tn HI i went for a ultra scan on my womb thinking i was going through the change, but they found a shadow in my right kidney, sent me for a ct scan it was inconclusive but know calling it a tumour. Is it cancer? Know i have to go for a mri scan and another ultra scan,im worried as my mum had renal failure and cancer in her kidneys, plus her mum died when my mum was 4 of kidney problems, why do results take so long when you waiting and worried.I havnt lost weight, not over tired no blood in urine.
Avatar f tn MRI is done to defferentiate between benign and malignant conditions, in your case to differentiate between cyst and neoplasm. MRI with contrast needs a proper functioning of the kidney, beacuse contrast is a foreign material which in injected so that it will help in proper visualization of the organs and needs to be excreted by the kidneys. Kindneys will do so only if their function is not disturbed grossly. Visit your urologist with the MRI contrast report. Take care.
Avatar f tn If you start having problems, your doctor might want you to have a CT or MRI scan of your kidney to see if the cyst is growing. Remember that most people with kidney cysts never have problems and never need extra CT scans. Most kidney cysts are harmless and don't need to be removed. ref:http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/common/kidney/653.html.
Avatar f tn I have been having pain in my right lower stomach and the left too but not as bad for over a week. I went to my doctor and had to see a new doctor cause mine was off that day she said she believe it could be ovarian cysts so she order an ultra sound they couldn't get me in till the next week. I was hurting so bad I went to the er the doctor did a ct scan and said he seen nothing on it except a spot on my kidney i should have an mri on.
Avatar n tn I have had a CT scan, then a sonogram and then my urologist after being away for a week sends me out for an MRI and a kidney function BUN Creatine blood test ( Which came back normal) If they found a cyst on my kidney, why is he sending me out for another MRI? Are they not telling me something? I feel like my doctors are holding back on something yet my GP and the radiologist have looked and said it was a cyst.
Avatar m tn 1-) ct scan of urinary tract (1.5 months ago): everything was normal, except 5 mm stone in the left kidney. the radiologist had an impression of a little bladder wall thickening but was not sure if this is due to an incompletely filled bladder (i went to toilet before ct scan) or due to an organic reason. He was suggesting cystoscopy to be done. 2-) cystoscopy (1.5 months ago): normal 3-) urine cytology (1.5 months ago): negative 4-) MRI of back (1.
Avatar f tn I have a question regarding the accuracy of MRI results versus Ultrasound when it comes to kidneys. I have a bit of a situation and am wondering if I should obtain a second opinion. I experienced kidney pain at the beginning of December and went to the doctor for some antibiotics (I have a history of UTI's which go quickly to kidney infections and had been advised many years ago to take care of UTI's quickly).
Avatar n tn My PD forgot that I was using metformin till I told him and told me to stop the medication for 2 weeks before the scan. If my kidney results comes with normal level of creatinine is it safe to do the contrast? Can a MRI without the contrast reveal any more than just a CT scan. I would rather pay for the MRI than CT scan with contrast. I do not have insurance but I am paying out my pocket all procedures. Thank you for your answer.
Avatar f tn I had another MRI done. All the Dr. said was - thru his nurse not him - "he THINKS it is not cancer. The wall of the kidney is very thick which he does not like, but he wants to monitor it so I don't need to come back in until Jan. of 09 for another MRI. First of all, him possibly "thinking" it is not cancer says there is a possibility that it could be. 2nd, what does the wall of the kidney being very think and he doesn't like that actually mean?

Avatar m tn i had ct scan of kidney and bladder and had cystoscopy. i had mri for my back-pain. results: ct scan: very small kidney stone and urologist said it is very small and hence does not require treatment with antibiotics. the radiologist was suspicious about the thickness of bladder and hence urologist said he will do a cystoscopy. cystoscopy: normal findings mri for back-pain: minimal bulging in L5S1. urologist told the problem is prosratitis.
543171 tn?1215331582 It would be difficult for me to tell you a definite diagnosis with out physical examination and a copy of the MRI plates. What you can do is to bring the MRI plates and all other tests done (IVP, blood and urine tests) to the nephrologist for proper evaluation. Take care always and God bless. Do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn When she went to the nephrologist (kidney doctor), he ordered an MRI. The MRI showed there was absolutely nothing on her kidney. It was just an error or a misreading of the ultrasound. An ultrasound is not as accurate as an MRI. Just to ease your mind, talk to your doctor, explain your concerns and ask whether you should go to a specialist to have it checked out or maybe get another (more accurate) test like a CT scan or MRI. Good luck!
Avatar f tn 1 or 2 foci T2 FLAIR hyprtintensity in the left frontal lobe white mater, corona radiata. Significance is questionable. Mild general atrophy, greater than expected for age. incidental mega cisterna magna. My story is very long and my life is not easy. Not much support from the doctors until recently. They would always say 'anxiety'.
Avatar f tn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_resonance_imaging The above link tells you pretty much everything you didn't want to know about MRIs. I had a brain MRI one time, I had to be sedated because I was afraid of it, they even have a little mirror in there so you can see out of it, sort of claustrophobic in the machine, and they had a microphone and radio in there so I could talk to the techs. When the machine started up, it was VERY loud, surprised me, kind of made a bumping racket.
974371 tn?1424653129 Due to gastro problems I was having, MRI and CT scan were done. Those tests detected a lesion on my left kidney. Was eventually referred to a Urologist who ordered an ultrasound. She was NOT happy with the way the test was done or the radiology report. She wanted another one done in 3 mos. She has since left that group. I made an appt myself with a urologist I had seen years ago. He ordered another ultrasound to be done in 3 mos, which I had done today.
Avatar n tn What do the results of MRI mean?Impression: there are a few nonspecific foci of T2 prolongation in the subcortcal white matter in the left frontal and parietal lobes. The differential includes demyelination, sequels of chronic small vessel ischemic change, vasculitis and lime disease.
Avatar m tn It makes no difference whether it is closed bore or not. The imaging principle remains the same. It is the contrast agent that enhances the images. While not all MRIs require contrast, it can be very beneficial in certain cases to show certain anatomy more clearly. It improves diagnostic accuracy, especially in cases of certain tumors, blood vessels, inflammation or infection. MRI contrast agents do not contain iodine and rarely cause allergic reactions or other problems.
Avatar m tn I fully appreciate some of these systems could just be the result of tension/trauma due to worry about the MRI results. However, a couple of years ago I began to wonder if it was anything to do with the Gadolinium and I had a scan without it. I felt completely different - not so tired, seizures at normal level etc. I recently met with a new consultant who ask me to have an MRI with Gadolinium.
Avatar m tn On my last CT scan of abdomen (liver/kidney) the doctor writing the report states, "Slight contour abnormality within the right kidney corresponds to an area of irregular enhancement, measuring 2.2cm in size. (6 month prior scan by another doctor read 16mm). Impression: "Ill defined hypodensity in the posterior right kidney as above, also stable in size. Appearance remains indeterminate.
Avatar m tn on the contrary, if we see any increased uptake, then we would go for localized MRI scan of the area, where there is an increased uptake of the scaning dye. Also bone scaning is much cheaper than the localized MRI scan. SO please do it and let me know about the result. All the best.
974371 tn?1424653129 In the meantime they discovered a cyst on my kidney and a tumor on the inside of my third rib they claim neither of these have any connection with the symptoms that I have been complaining about all along. Dont be too alarmed especially about the stone and as far as the lesion is concerned if it is an issue now they you will get the help you need.
Avatar n tn Diagnosis is made with the help of CT scan or MRI. If the cyst is small and asymptomatic, then no treatment is required, your doctor will suggest to repeat the CT scan after 6-12 months to see if it is increasing in size. If it is increasing in size causing pain, fever, frequent urination or if the cyst is filled with dense tissue or calcifications then open surgery is required. Consult a urologist for further assistance. Best.
Avatar n tn Approximately 25% of people who are 40 years or older and approximately 50% of people who are 50 years or older have simple kidney cysts. Solitary renal cysts are usually incidentally discovered and are typically asymptomatic. The Bosniak classification system of renal cystic masses divides renal cysts into 5 categories based on imaging characteristics (e.g.
