Mri scan of gallbladder

Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan of gallbladder

mri-scan

Avatar f tn This may inhibit the forceful contraction of the bile into the small intestine. A HIDA scan creates pictures of your liver, gallbladder, bile ducts and small intestine and is quite useful in diagnosing gall bladder problems. You have already had number if tests which have all not diagnosed gall bladder disease. It seems unlikely that you have gall bladder problem. It could be possible that you have gastro esophageal reflux disease which causes heartburn, nausea, difficulty in swallowing etc.
Avatar m tn Yes you can go back to regular routine, although if you are having a HIDA scan becasue of gallbladder issues, alcohol is one of the worst things you can consume.
Avatar m tn Should I ask for a MRI or CT scan to further investigate my pain? I also had a Hida Scan of my gallbladder with the results being 90% ejection fraction rate at 30 minutes, and I am 43 years old. Thanks in advance...
Avatar f tn I HAVE HAD FULLNESS PRESSURE AND LIKE A BLOWN UP BALLOON FEELING ON MY LEFT SIDE FOR 3 MONTHS ITS DRIVING ME INSANE I HAD BREAST CANCER 2 YEARS AGO SO OF COURSE I THIN CANCER MY DOCTOR DOESNT WANT TO SEE ME ANYMORE SHE SAYS THERES NOTHING WRONG BUTTTT I DISAGREE I HAVE HAD AN XRAY OF MY STOMACH CHEST CT SCAN WITH AND WITHOUT CONTRAST COLONOSCOPY ENDOSCOPY 3 SETS OF BLOOD WORK AND THEY TOLD ME I HAVE A HYITAL NERNIA AND GALLSTONE BUT THATS NOT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS THERE IS NO PAIN JUST DISCOMFORT
Avatar n tn In May 08, I had an ultrasound and an ERCP and there was nothing abnormal. Blood tests are also normal. My Gastro has recommended that I have a CT Scan of my abdomen to rule out Diverticulosis and then thinks we should stop there as it doesn't seem to be bowel related. My worry is that I had RAI Uptake Scan and RAI 131 for Graves Disease in 2005. X-rays for gallbladder in 2001, a mammogram in 2007 and two other CT Scans over 10yrs ago.
Avatar f tn I am just thinking if its in the function of gallbladder will this MRI really show anything, My GI is sending me to another GI that speacializes in ERCP and manomentry but takes forever here in Canada so dont go until January. Will they still do an ERCP if MRI is clear... I really just want to feel normal again..its taken away from me playing sports and really just living my normal life. Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn Had 3 ultrasounds, Hida Scan and MRI - no stones or sludge showing up and all results normal. Gastroscopy showed only mild gastritis, everything else normal. Several blood tests for liver function have been done with elevated GGT each time. Pain in right side, just off center and going under ribs to the side and also the back (between shoulder blades). Pain every day (some days mild with more pain as the day goes on, and some days a lot of pain all day).
1069644 tn?1276928863 I have had removal of gallbladder, endoscopy and ultrasound x 3, Hida scan x2, cat scan and MRI of abdomen, chest ct and MRI, stress test, blood tests 2x month checking liver, pancreas, cbc and h pylori. Everything has come back normal except the liver enzymes when I was in the hospital and the Hida scan. There are two types of Hida that I know of, the one for the gallbladder and the one I just had which does the test in reverse order and checks the sphincter.
Avatar m tn The symptoms I am experiencing is trouble digesting my food and at times a aftertaste of fat. My GI said my gallbladder should be removed because of the inactivity. I have recently spoke with a couple of alternative medicine contacts and they say I should hang in there and take some supplements and watch my diet (low fat) and try to jump start my Gallbladder. Obviously the gallbladder serves a purpose and if you have it removed the pancreas and liver have to work harder.

Avatar f tn Ask your doctor for a hidascan to check the functionality of your gallbladder. pretty painless and it looks at the function of your gallbladder.... Good luck!!
2076644 tn?1331837159 I have had a few health issues & found out that I have3 spots on my liver. Specalist said one looks beign, but the 2 other spots they couldn't see well enough from the ulrta- sound or CT scan, was scheduled for MRI of liver but couldn't do it due to fear of small area, , I have pain that stays under my ribs & goes threw to my lower back same side, I am afraid of Liver cancer please reply & help me figure out if it could be something different then that.
Avatar n tn I did have my gallbladder out in 2006. I noticed that when I get an MRI or ct scan done that they state there are surgical clips. Could the the clips cause pain? Also I have a red blotchiness on my tummy. Is it okay? This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/228381'>Lower right quadrant discomfort</a>.
Avatar f tn So far I have had an ultrasound (no stones), endoscopy (no problems), celiac test (negative) and a HIDA scan (GEF of 92%). My GI wants to do a MRI next. Last weekend I ran into an old acquaintance who had the exact same symptoms and test results. She suffered a year before she found a doctor who helped her. He diagnosed her with overactive gallbladder due to her high GEF (95%). She had her gallbladder removed three weeks ago and her symptoms are gone.
Avatar n tn Is your pain located mainly on your right side? If so have you had your gallbladder checked?? Sometimes when you are having symptoms such as yours, and all of the tests(CT scans, Ultrasounds, MRI) come back normal, it could be a condition called biliary dyskinesia or Acalculous cholecystopathy(gallbladder disease). Which is in essence gallbladder disease without stones. I'm having my gallbladder removed soon because of it. Ask your doctor for a HIDA Scan.
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm not sure where to begin. For the past few months I have been having horrible upper right sided abdominal pain. I've had a gallbladder ultrasound and HIDA scan done, both showing everything to be normal. My gallbladder was said to be slightly enlarged but no gallstones are present. During the HIDA scan, I was in horrible pain during the second hour of the test, after they injected me with the hormone to stimulate & "squeeze" my gallbladder.
Avatar n tn I am scheduled for a HIDA scan on Sept. 4 and it will test the function of my gallbladder. Do you have any gastro issues with it? Have you had another transvaginal ultrasound to ensure the ovarian cyst is gone? It can also cause this kind of pain.
Avatar f tn Docs nurse this morning, with the results of the MRI of my liver. Abnormalities of the liver; so I am scheduled for an Ultra-Sound tomorrow afternoon. When the liver lesions were first discovered on my CT Scan last June, and again when the Tech did my Brain, Thoracic & Cervical Spine MRI's and noted enhancement in the left lobe of the liver, my G.I.
Avatar n tn the liver and spleen abnormal in size. Normal ranges vary depending on gender, body habitus, etc. 1% of the general population has such liver nodules that could be cysts or hemangiomas. U/S is extremely operator-dependent, meaning that the experience of the technician affects the sensitivity of the scan. I think you should have an MRi of the liver to look at this 'lesion'. gallbladder polyps should be followed expectantly as they rarely can become liver cancer.
Avatar f tn m curious why your doctors decided to do an MRI instead of a CT scan? Often times, especially in the abdomen, a CT scan will show things that an MRI cannot.
Avatar n tn I am surprised they didnt do an ultrasound, CT scan or MRI before the HIDA? Usually they wont een do a HIDA scan til then...
Avatar f tn I recently got out of the hospital for an attack of acute pancreatitis. They did a cat scan, MRI and EDG and couldn't find the cause of my attack. The cat scan and MRI showed that I had multiple lymph nodes in my retroperitoneum. They were under 10mm on the cat scan but as large as 17mm on the MRI. I'm a 41 year old female and I don't have a history of alcohol abuse. I smoked for 25 years but I quit after having this attack.
Avatar f tn I then had an upper GI, which showed GERD, so I was referred to a gastroenterologist. He has since ordered an EGD, a CT scan, and an MRI, all of which were negative for everything except a small cyst on my liver, which he said is not what is causing my pain. I asked about a HIDA scan, but he said that he is "not a fan" of them because if it comes back abnormal it doesn't really mean anything. Also, my lipase level is slightly elevated at 421.
Avatar f tn MRI scan report is possibility of ca gallbladder with liver invasion and porta hepatis extension with vascular encasement should be considered.
Avatar f tn I have been bloated with a lot of burping for the last 7 months. My Dr thought this was from acid reflux but I had an EGD that was normal and meds did not help at all. Tbe symptoms are now worse. Daily bloating and burping with occasional nausea and mild abdominal pain. Dr said he didn't think these were gallbladder symptoms but ordered a hida scan that showed a 44 % ejection fraction. Which I believe is low normal.
Avatar f tn I am 43 year old female with bad pain on right side under my ribs, alot of burping!!!! I have been scheduled for a HIDA scan on Nov. 12th. I am very nervous about everything but the thought of radioactive meds. injected into my body really bothers me. I have tried to find info but it's not very helpful. If anyone has been through this can yu tell me if there were any side affects to the radiation? Alos my mother has Graves diesease so I am concerned this could hurt my thyroid.
1458115 tn?1287616056 do u think it could be that even though my liver pancreas and gallbladder showed no signs of inflammation in either the ct scan and the mri scan? im not sure the way in which the dilated common bile duct relates to the raise in amylase levels?
