Mri scan of cervical spine

Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan of cervical spine

mri-scan

Avatar f tn I knew something was wrong considering the fact that the Neuro only did a brain and cervical MRI....no spinal mri. My cervical cord already showed a small syrinx and I had lesions in the brain. He definately dropped the ball with this and I felt like he brushed me off. Neurosurgions are hard to get an appointment with, but maybe it won't be too long.
Avatar n tn Is this true? Is an MRI of the brain good enough, or do I need an MRI of the skull? also, would an MRI of the cervical spine show if the brain goes into the cerbellum?
Avatar m tn He gave his diagnosis and then I had a MRI scan. I was young at the time so didn’t really see the seriousness of it and my parents couldn’t afford a follow up scan. I took medication (cataflam mostly for the pain if it was serious) and I stopped Ballet lessons and then stopped basketball as well. The problems with my back stopped then and has been ok for the past few years. Now however, it has started up again and won’t seem to go away even with rest and cataflam.
Avatar f tn Thanks Sumanadevii, Can you (or anyone else) explain to me how the whole MRI works re which part of the spine is looked at? ie which part of the spine is responsible for intercostal symptoms; arm symptoms etc?? Thanks, Zel.
Avatar n tn i have been having pain my back for about 4 years and have always thought that it was do to my chronic abdomen pain due to multiple surgreys i have been seeking help for a lond time and have not got any results it seems like everyone wants to treat the pain not fix the problem due to my age so over the past three months my right arm has been going numb, burning and i more pain in neck and back it hurts to be on my feet i went to my doctor he sent me to another doctor for carpal tunnel he found a
Avatar n tn Did the MRI include cervical spine? If not then a repeat MRI should be done including cervical spine. An injury or compression at upper cervical level can cause headache, nausea and numbness of one half of body. Other than that possibility of a subdural hematoma should be considered. Please discuss with your daughter’s neurologist. Hope this helps. Wishing her an early recovery! Take care!
Avatar m tn Hi there. Cervical spondylosis is caused by chronic wearing away of the cervical spine. These changes can compress one or more of the nerve roots over time. Advanced cases spinal cord can become involved. Symptoms are neck pain, stiffness, loss of sensation or abnormal sensations in the shoulders, arms or legs. Weakness of arms or legs, headaches particularly in the back of neck. there is limited ability to bend the head toward the shoulder and rotate the head.
Avatar f tn I know that the finding of lesions on a MRI scan of the brain may or may not result in any clinical outcomes. So hypothetically speaking, could lesions in the medulla cause pain in the neck area?
1139665 tn?1382710950 Your cervical spine is the portion of the spine in your neck. I suggested the cervical spine imaging based on your symptoms especially the clicking and "rice crispies" sounds. In my opinion, the problem is coming from your cervical spine based on your complains. The cervical spine MRI would include the back of the head, NOT the front of the head. Thus, it would show any abnormality in the back of the head as well.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your reply Dr. Pillay.
293157 tn?1285873439 hi there...I'm feeling better today,,, had a long cry yesterday and feel much better today...just wondering since I'm heading to have a whole spine MRI...what reasoning would that be...the specialist just went on and on yest...so quickly that I could ask why...and VEP..what exactly will that tell? also a bladder scan...is that a ultra scan type thing.. she is also checking my autoimmune things again...does that sometimes change and show antibodies? I know we are not Dr...
Avatar f tn Yes a full spine MRI so that u have one of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine will help determine if u have disk issues, syringomyelia, tethered cord... And a flow study or CINE MRI is a biggy we all need, Plus finding a Dr well informed and experienced with Chiari may be the way to get these tests.
Avatar f tn I had an MRI of the cervical spine last week. The MRI report reads (among other things) in the body of the report, "There is mild degenerative desiccation and narrowing of the intervertebral discs of the cervical spine.
1645073 tn?1302694588 I am a 40 y. old female, and I had a brain and cervical spine MRI because of tingling in right leg and arm, right arm weakness, right side of face and tongue tingling, eye pain ( not all at the same time). My doctor said that the MRI is normal. I see a couple of things on my cervical MRI, that look like MS lessions. I am not a smoker, I do not have High blood pressure, etc. Shouldn't my MRI be without any spots on it if it would be normal?
Avatar m tn I was just wondering if an MRI would pick that up, because I had an MRI of the Lumbar and Cervical. I should also mention that I sometimes have a tingling sensation. Regardless, I think I should see a neurologist as you suggested.
Avatar n tn I am being evaluated for CIDP (chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy) and recently had an MRI/MRA of the cervical spine. It showed, among other things, hypertrophic changes, of C 3-7, but it didn't say where. Does one assume that the changes are in the nerve roots, which would then point to CIDP, OR are the changes elsewhere and only mean degenerative changes? My appointment with the neuro isn't for about another month.
Avatar n tn I have 2 herniated discs in my neck I know, but I know there is something else going on. I am gonig to see a spine specialist and get a MRI done of my neck and back. I did a lot of research and many migraines come from the neck. I just hope there's an answer soon. Right now I am wearing a cerical collar also which I think is helping...
